(4:00) Gary was at one time silenced for speaking out against standardized treatment for people with diabetes by giving nutritional advice. She gives a backstory of everything she and Gary were challenged with, including battling the cereal industry. Belinda has done a deep dive on the concepts of The Blue Zones and longevity. (20:00) There were more factors than just certain foods. There have been misconceptions about how much meat was being eaten. Okinawa had a specific series of historical events that affected their diets and lifestyles; namely, war. (33:00) Religious beliefs also affect outcomes because of practices like fasting. (39:00) Belinda gives the history behind Loma Linda and Ellen G. White. Loma Linda is home to a food factory for processed foods. Since the McGovern committee, the American people have become increasingly unhealthy. (1:05:00) Crete is also an example of how history affected their lifestyle and diet. (1:07:00) When investigating dietary guidelines, it's important to look at history, religion, and culture. (16:00) He shares a skiing story that is a reminder to keep getting up after failing. (20:00) Vinnie gives an update on getting creatine into Pure Vitamin Club's product line. (34:00) Benefits of CCTA Scans Vinnie is interested in learning more about reversal of plaque in the arteries. (37:00) For many years, medicine has stated that once plaque build-up happened, it could not be reversed. Chris summarizes an article from Cardiovascular Business Journal. (40:00) CCTA scans appear to show progression of disease in stages now, which was unavailable before. However, using the test should be limited since it uses contrast radiation. A CAC score tells you if you have plaque or not. The CCTA (Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography) examines how much plaque, where it's located, and its progression. (50:00) Doctors and Big Pharma have been pushing Repatha. (52:00) It came out in 2016 and did basically nothing. And then, it's jumped 37% year over year. The company made $953 million in sales in the second quarter this year of Repatha alone. Many people are on multiple drugs. Many times some of the drugs are addressing symptoms caused by other drugs they are taking. (56:00) Never be passive about your health when consulting with your medical professional. David Forshee is the jewelry and lapidary artist behind David Forshee Jewelry. In this episode, David and I talk about the early years of learning a craft and the many small decisions, experiments, tools, and mistakes that slowly shape a maker's path. David works with mixed metals, opals, and gemstones, and much of his work begins with the stone itself.David shares how jewelry making first found him after he and his wife began looking for a handmade engagement ring, and how that experience opened his eyes to the beauty and presence of handmade jewelry. From there, he started with a simple torch and a few basic tools, learning to set rose-cut stones and slowly building his skills one piece at a time.We talk about working in a small garage studio, the reality of making jewelry without a large or perfect workspace, and the way tools slowly enter our lives as the work asks for them. David shares what led him into lapidary, from adjusting wonky cabochons to cutting opals, and we talk about the heartbreak and wonder that can come with working such delicate, beautiful stones. Our conversation also moves into family, memory, and the tools we inherit. David shares how some of the tools he uses came from his father and grandfather, and how making has become a way of carrying those connections forward. We also talk about the fullness of family life, raising a young child, and finding creative time in the in-between moments. This is a warm conversation about learning as you go, making do with the space you have, honoring the slow parts of the process, and allowing the craft to keep opening new doors.Follow David...David on Instagram: @davidforsheejewelryDavid's Website: davidforsheejewelry.comLove the Podcast?Support an episode: Click here to learn more!Without your support I couldn't continue the Slowmade Podcast. What Is It Like to Be a Sun?

    The Building 4th Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 12, 2026 52:25

If there is still light outside your window, that light is coming from a being. This episode asks a question we usually skip: not what it is like for us to evolve in third density, but what it is like to evolve as a Solar Logos. The lifetime under discussion is the sun's lifetime — and we are inside it. Part two of a conversation begun two weeks earlier, opening with a short recap and then moving into new territory: vertical concrescence, the Logos as a person with biases, and the difference between an inter-personal and an intra-personal relationship with God. The back half is open discussion, including sustained disagreement from two members that goes unresolved on purpose. Topics Opening attunement — three breaths, and the recognition that the light we receive is also light we give back. The many become one and are increased by one — Whitehead's definition of concrescence. Two hydrogens and an oxygen. Two prokaryotes becoming one eukaryotic cell. Why the pattern cannot be confined to the horizontal. Larger does not mean more advanced — the assumption that the sun must be a completed being, further along than we are, and why that may be a paradigm we import rather than something the Ra material teaches. Transcendent in the sense that Troy is transcendent in relation to his own cells. Two logjams and a horseshoe — the pre-veil stalemate (Ra's divinely happy entities; why study when you can enjoy recess), the innovation of the veil, and whether the far side of that arc brings us back around to a logjam of a different kind. What the sun cannot do — 54.17 on catalyst through the first triad only, and the question it raises: is the Solar Logos free not to love? A Person with biases — session 90 on the bias toward kindness. Kindness from kin. Family ties and bonds. The bipedal form and the opposable thumb as deliberate intensifications of the veil. Beauty, per Whitehead — the most diversity that can be packed into a moment of unity without the unity breaking. Intra-personal, not inter-personal — Terra as one person (Ra's planetary entity, Teilhard's noosphere, the Jewish Adam Kadmon), the Solar Logos as another, and why the relationship between them is a being coming face to face with itself rather than two entities meeting. Venus, Maldek, Mars — harmony at one pole, self-destruction at the other, and the guardianship in the middle where the oneing begins. Then Earth, and a Solar Logos eventually experiencing what is otherwise impossible for it: death. The discussion Two members pushed back, and the disagreement is the second half of the episode. On free will at the Logoic level — whether the sub-Logoi possess complete freedom of choice in structuring their creations, and whether 54.17 is better read as describing early third density, before an entity becomes conscious of the incarnational process and begins choosing its own catalyst. On whether a Logos can be personal at all — the case that a sub-Logos is a class of being beyond personal form, which creates and then experiences through its creation rather than entering it. On this reading, Jesus emptied himself and the Logos experienced third-density Earth in the first person through him, without acting through him. The acorn response — containing all the octaves is not the same as having them activated. Every being is under process, because process is the nature of the development of love. On the archetypes — why some Logoi apparently lack Experience or Transformation altogether, and whether Solar Logoi choose their archetypal system or inherit the most articulated version discovered so far and refine it. Ra's own phrasing at 81.33: the sub-Logoi have been refining the discoveries of earlier sub-Logoi. The AI parallel — builders who construct an architecture, watch it think on its own, and then study what it did in order to find structure they neither knew about nor put there. Teilhard at the Omega Point, and AI as the human collective brain becoming a physical thing. The surprise of creation: put the third element in, and something arrives that no one predicted. Deism, or the dance — the Creator who sets the stage and observes, versus the Creator radically participating in its own creativity. Both readings are on the table. Neither gets forced. Midrash — why multiple interpretations are the point, and not a problem to be solved. Ra citations referenced 54.17 · 81.33 · session 90 (bias toward kindness; bipedal form and opposable thumb) · 78.22 A tilde (~) before "Ra says" marks a paraphrase rather than a direct quotation. Also mentioned Alfred North Whitehead, Process and Reality — concrescence, and beauty as maximal diversity within unity Pierre Teilhard de Chardin — the noosphere and the Omega Point Richard Rohr Adam Kadmon in the Jewish mystical tradition Midrash as interpretive practice About Building 4th is a contemplative community that meets Tuesday nights. Ra Contact Night is a recurring format. Doug Scott is a psychospiritual therapist and pastoral minister, the founder of Building 4th, and the author of Raian Process Metaphysics: A Cosmic Christology for Our Times — available as a free download at cosmicchrist.net.

Send us Fan MailChaz Giles, founder of Alida Labs and former head of external innovation at Estee Lauder, returns to Skin Anarchy to cut through the AI hype: where it creates real value in beauty and wellness, why midsize brands are outpacing the giants, how to get your data ready, and what AI means for executives and their careers.Who is Chaz Giles? Two decades across Procter & Gamble, venture capital, and Estee Lauder, then founder of Revea and now Alida Labs. "How do you turn technology into things that consumers love and are good for business?"Where does AI actually fit in beauty right now? Unevenly. "We had a custom GPT... that's why it didn't really help, because it wasn't the use case that was right." Real value lives in data, formulation, product development, and DTC analytics.Where should a brand start with AI? With its existing strengths. "Think of AI as a superpower... where do you want to create a superpower?" Guest Nick Parish is a writer, angler, and educator in Portland, Oregon. He's the editorial voice behind Current Flow State, a publication and member community aimed at helping people make fly fishing a bigger part of their life. Summary Fly fishing instructor, writer, and educator Nick Parrish joins me for a conversation that quickly moves beyond techniques and equipment into the philosophy of fly fishing and what it can teach about living well. Drawing inspiration from the writings of John Gierach, Nick argues that fly fishing is less about catching fish than cultivating attentiveness, curiosity, creativity, and meaningful relationships—with rivers, wildlife, fellow anglers, and oneself. Nick explains how his own teaching emphasizes observation before action, encouraging students to slow down, study the water, and immerse themselves in the environment rather than rushing to make the first cast. He advocates a minimalist approach to gear, believing that skill, versatility, and creative problem-solving matter far more than accumulating expensive equipment. Throughout the conversation, Nick and I reflect on several memorable John Gierach quotations, using them as springboards to discuss mindfulness, companionship, conservation, and the restorative power of time spent outdoors. The discussion also explores the ethical tension inherent in catch-and-release fishing. Nick acknowledges the paradox of loving fish while pursuing them, arguing that responsible anglers must balance that tension through conservation, habitat restoration, and sound fisheries management. He describes experiments such as fishing without hooks and emphasizes that the future of fly fishing depends on protecting the ecosystems that sustain it. Ultimately, Nick and I conclude that fly fishing is best understood as a creative, deeply attentive way of engaging with the natural world—one in which the journey, the place, and the experience matter far more than the number of fish caught. A key takeaway Fly fishing is a practice of attention. When we slow down, observe deeply, and engage creatively with the natural world, the fish become only one part of a much richer experience of connection, learning, and stewardship. In this episode, Ian Morgan Cron and I talk about Chasing Francis, the novel he wrote twenty years ago (before anyone called it deconstruction) about a megachurch pastor who loses his faith mid-sermon and goes looking for St. Francis in Italy. We get into a 13th-century church that looks a lot like ours, beauty as a doorway back to God, why Francis walked across a battlefield to meet a sultan, the difference between spotlight attention and lantern attention, and why the sermon on the mount should be read as instructions.Ian Morgan Cron is a bestselling author, Episcopal priest, trained psychotherapist, Enneagram teacher, Dove Award-winning songwriter, and one of the most sought-after voices in American spirituality today. His Enneagram primer The Road Back to You has sold over one million copies and launched a global conversation about self-knowledge and spiritual formation. But Chasing Francis is where it all started — and where it still leads. Ian's work spans psychology, theology, the arts, and pastoral care. He speaks from lived experience: he has sat with the burned out, the doubting, the spiritually shipwrecked — and he has been all three himself. He is the host of the widely popular podcast Typology and has appeared on media across the country.Ian's Book:Chasing FrancisIan's RecommendationsThe Master and His EmissaryThe Myth of NormalConnect with Joshua: jjohnson@shiftingculturepodcast.comGo to www.shiftingculturepodcast.com to interact and donate. After a couple of weeks off, James and Robert are back with a brand new episode of The Double Cleanse… and this episode has a LOT of call outs. We kick off by calling out magazine awards (which publication's “Best of Beauty” awards might actually be a paid sponsorship?) plus Robert has some insight into when he won one of these “prestigious” awards. The real conversation gets messy when James and Robert tackle the elephant in the room: expensive beauty trends and the "clean girl aesthetic" that's really just code for "looking rich". They discuss how modern beauty trends - minimalism, old money vibes, clean makeup - are all designed to make you look like you have disposable income, don't need to work hard, and probably own a horse. The twins get passionate about people's right to buy nice things regardless of their financial situation, sharing personal stories about choosing between eating and buying foundation when they first moved to London. They're also calling out influencers who are hypocritical: reviewing drugstore products for "relatable content" in one video, then unboxing their first Birkin in the next. The key question? Are these beauty trends actually about self-care, or are they just about looking rich? Don't forget to subscribe and catch new episodes of The Double Cleanse every Monday! What happens when you stop outsourcing your health and start learning how to think for yourself? In this powerful conversation, Dr. Stephanie Rimka challenges the way we've been taught to approach health, healing, and even our own bodies. We dive into medical gaslighting, health sovereignty, nervous system regulation, autism spectrum, biohacking, and why the right intervention at the wrong time can sometimes do more harm than good. We also explore the deeper biology of safety, femininity, intimacy, relationships, and what it takes to reconnect with yourself after years of overriding your own signals. Dr. Rimka offers a radically different perspective on health: one that asks us to stop blindly following protocols, understand our own physiology, and learn how to think rather than simply being told what to do. If you've ever felt dismissed by the medical system, disconnected from your body, stuck in survival mode, or overwhelmed by conflicting health advice, this conversation will challenge you to rethink what it really means to take your health back.Dr. Stephanie Rimka is a clinician, educator, and speaker specializing in mitochondrial function, nervous system regulation, and the biological foundations of brain health, mental health, and human performance. With nearly three decades of clinical experience working with conditions such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and complex neurodevelopmental challenges, her work focuses on helping practitioners and audiences understand why conventional protocols often fail and how to think in systems rather than isolated interventions. She is a founding faculty member of Peptide University, where she teaches clinicians worldwide how to apply advanced therapies through the lens of mitochondrial physiology, signaling, and clinical sequencing. Her approach integrates bioenergetics, trauma physiology, and metabolic health to create a more precise and effective model for restoring energy, cognitive function, and emotional resilience.Dr. Rimka is also the author of Receive: The Dance of Feminine Power, and the creator of multiple educational programs exploring the intersection of biology, identity, and human potential. Her work challenges reductionist approaches to health and emphasizes the importance of sequence, structure, and system-wide coherence, particularly in the treatment of chronic mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.SHOW NOTES:0:38 Welcome to the show!2:33 About Dr. Stephanie Rimka3:21 Welcome to the podcast!4:01 How she defines health5:28 How we lose our sovereignty10:26 Medical gaslighting12:45 Renee's story16:20 Learning how to think18:35 Nervous system & decision-making20:53 The problem with biohacking25:30 Burning man28:13 Parenting children with autism spectrum disorder33:14 Restoring intimacy & sex37:56 Balancing masculine & feminine in relationships39:58 Strategies to decrease dissociation & increase creativity46:45 Bioenergetics & nature somatics51:49 Permission to be lazy56:47 Brain wave support1:00:49 When to use biohacking tech1:06:30 Creating a healthier home1:11:15 Beauty is safety1:13:05 Botox issues1:20:20 How she learned to think1:22:43 How to find her1:31:30 Thanks for tuning in!RESOURCES:Website: www.drrimka.comIG: @dr_rimkaLinkedIn: @drstephanierimkaSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/biohacker-babes-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Conner explores what it means to surrender our desire for recognition, success, and achievement so that Jesus can become greater in our lives. Our culture often celebrates bigger, better, and more, but John the Baptist modeled a different path: humility, surrender, and a life centered completely on Christ. This devotional explores how true joy is not found in being noticed or praised by others, but in making room for Jesus to receive the glory. When we let go of the need to be seen, we discover the freedom and peace that come from knowing we are already fully known and loved by God. Highlights: Discover why the pursuit of “more” often leaves us feeling empty and exhausted. Learn from John the Baptist’s example of humility and surrender. Understand why true joy comes from making Christ greater, not ourselves. Explore how pride and the desire for recognition can distract us from reflecting Jesus. Find practical ways to surrender selfish desires through prayer and dependence on God. Be encouraged to seek God’s validation above the approval of others. Conner Bible Reading:“He must become greater; I must become less.” - John 3:30 (NIV) How many of us have felt trapped by the demands of “more?” More accomplishments, more accolades, more money, more security, more doing, more going, more belonging, more pursuing, more achieving… More, more, more… with no end in sight. The mantra bigger is better reigns king in many of our lives and incessantly clamors for attention. So, we work our fingers to the bone while fraying our nerves and destroying our peace. More often than not, even if we are able to acquire the elusive pot of gold at the end of our desired rainbows, the emptiness we are attempting to fill remains void. Why is it that we are so drawn to the pursuit of more? Simply explained, it is part of our human nature. Without the Lord, we are naturally selfish and long for praise and exaltation. We want to be seen as important. We want to be “known.” But the truth is, we are known and deeply loved by our Heavenly Father, and His validation is the only one that will truly satisfy. John the Baptist understood this when he declared, “He (Jesus) must become greater, I must become less,” (John 3:30, NIV). John the Baptist was the beloved cousin of Christ and lived for the sole purpose of preparing the way for the Lord’s coming. John was the first messenger to proclaim that the kingdom of heaven was at hand. He called people to repentance and cleansing through baptism. He reminded listeners that all are in need of a savior; that all have fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). He was bold in his preaching and refuted the religious who refused to acknowledge their own sin. Because of the impact John had on the region, his actions earned him notoriety, even fame. So much so that his followers were upset when they felt like John was being upstaged by Jesus and His disciples. “They came to John and said to him, ‘Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.’ To this John replied, ‘A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.” - John 3:26-30 (NIV). John’s joy was not found in greatness; it was found in Jesus. His joy was complete in less. John understood that the more he diminished, the more others saw Christ. The same is true for us. When we pursue our own attention and accolades, we are beckoning to others - see me… recognize me, pay attention to me. For those of us who consider ourselves disciples and ambassadors for Christ, these efforts actually steal the spotlight from the true source of light and hope for a hurting world. It is through humility, not celebrity, that love shines the brightest. If decrease rather than increase is the goal, how then can we practically walk that out? First, we must lean into prayer. As shared earlier, we are naturally selfish. So, any attempt to force meekness upon ourselves to accomplish our gospel mission will likely result in false humility. This is why we must ask for God’s help through prayer and genuine surrender. Only then can we, like John the Baptist, truly declare, “He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:30 (NIV). Intersecting Faith & Life: Are you someone who feels weighed down by the demands of more? Are you seeking the affirmation and acceptance of others to fill a void in your heart? Do you struggle to remain still when opportunities are present for you to gain recognition? If you answered yes to any of these, first, please know – you are not alone. We all wrestle with the allure of pride. After honestly confessing your inner battle, may I encourage you to take some time today to be still before the Lord? Ask Him to show you the motivation behind your desire for attention. Then, ask Him to help you surrender those desires as you look to become less so that He can become greater in your life. A writer's room where creators cross-edit each other's scripts. Hair, makeup, and wardrobe walkthroughs before anyone hits record. This is what organic content looks like at Kiyoko Beauty (kiyoko.ca), the curated Asian beauty retailer that hit 8 figures in 5 years, bootstrapped, while all three co-founders kept their full-time jobs.Gillian Liu walks through the whole machine, from a part-time student's 3M-view TikTok to a production calendar planned a month out.If you run content, growth, or a retail business on thin margins, this episode is worth a notebook. What's inside:The full production process: concepts and formats planned a month ahead, scripting against a reference hook library, a writer's room because "sometimes you're in it too much by yourself," script read-throughs with talent, then batch shoot days. "It's not vibes at all."Her comparison for why the pros post consistently: comedians who have joke-writing down to a science. The hiring filter for content roles: "What's your screen time? Show me." Her most recent hire clocks 8 hours a day. Gillian's reaction: "That's it?"Where it started: a student with 1,000 followers, found via Instagram DM, told to post three times a week with no direction. Three months in, one video hit 3M views on a niche product only Kiyoko carried, and site sessions 10x'd overnight.Platform roles: TikTok reaches strangers, Instagram converts them through stories and community, YouTube Shorts reposts overperform, and Red Note gets Gillian recognized on the street by the Chinese Canadian community. The math forcing all of this: retailer margins. A Meta top-of-funnel ad runs ~$10 CPM; organic works out to under a dollar. Paid has been bottom-of-funnel Google only for five years. The curation model itself: pay brand premium on COGS, then harvest demand created by other people's marketing budgets.Merchandising by data: Amazon US/Canada volume, Korea's top sellers, brand heads-ups on strategic SKUs, and Shopify's "search queries with no results" report.Brands as partners: one runs a 50/50 ad split with Kiyoko, others commission content monthly and pay in inventory value. The early jank: a $2,000 first order, a free Shopify theme, shipping from a co-founder's basement, and buying out-of-stock items from the Asian grocery store down the street. Why three co-founders kept their 9 to 5s (cash flow first, risk second), plus two warehouse moves in five months and the new California fulfillment center.Who this is for: content leads and founders doing organic at scale, and any operator whose margins can't support paid top of funnel. What to steal: her writer's room. Gramps is finally clapping back at the haters and losers! Donald James Parker breaks the fourth wall in his newest feature BEAUTY AND THE ATHEIST. It's a shocking turn for a Christian film auteur, the first Christian film we've ever made fun of on our podcast, with a plot about a Christian film being made fun of on a podcast. Does your head hurt yet? It gets even more meta than that: BEAUTY AND THE ATHEIST is a film about a real event in Donald's life, when he felt (to use his words) an "inaudible message" that compelled him to reach out to atheist activist Forrest Valkai to debate him about the idea of evolution. Forrest accepted Donald's invite and hosted Donald on YouTube to the tune of 500k views. In Donald's own estimation, the debate didn't go very well for him, but it did yield creative inspiration. BEAUTY AND THE ATHEIST is the story of a Christian filmmaker (played by Donald himself) who debates an atheist podcaster, whose hatred of God is finally softened by the love of a Christian woman. Donald James Parker's character is called Douglas Connors, an obvious 1:1 fictional version of himself. In BEAUTY AND THE ATHEIST, the titular "beauty" is Douglas's own daughter Jeweli Connors (yes, spelled like that). She's a hardworking nurse and outspoken Christian who finds solace in a local coffee shop called Common Grounds. It is there she meets the atheist: podcaster Trey Crawford, who loves evolution so much he wears a Charles Darwin shirt every single day. The unlikely pair develop a verbal rapport that turns into weekly discussions about spirituality vs. secularism during workouts at the local gym. But their convivial relationship is turned upside down when Jeweli discovers Trey's podcast is one of the many "chuckleheads" who mock her own father's cinematic evangelism. Fortunately, God has a way, and the blossoming relationship in BEAUTY AND THE ATHEIST shows that love is possible on the battlefield. It's fascinating to see Donald James Parker make art in conversation with the ecosystem that gets likes and views at his expense; we're very curious to see where this conversational thread takes Mr. Parker in the near future. Historian Micki McElya's book, ‘Liberation Summer,' revisits September 1968, when three groups of women converged on the Atlantic City boardwalk: feminists protesting the Miss America Pageant, contestants in the first-ever Miss Black America Pageant, and women defending Miss America herself. McElya argues the collision that day created a politics of beauty that runs through the rise of the religious right, the #MeToo era, all the way to today. She spoke with Tonya Mosley. Also, TV critic David Bianculli reviews HBO's ‘Big Bang' spin-off,  ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.' Subscribe to our free weekly newsletter Follow us on Instagram Subscribe to our YouTube channel Check out the Fresh Air ArchivesSupport public media with NPR+ and enjoy perks for over 25 podcasts like this one.
