In Galatians 6:2, Paul wrote “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” As Christians, we are ready and waiting to provide prayer and assistance to one another, but we sometimes forget that there are two active parties in this verse. Hi! I'm Valerie Riese, and I recently went through a hurtful situation that left me mentally and emotionally frozen. I needed help, but I knew we're all struggling with different things, and I didn't want to burden anyone with my issues. But Paul's instructions to the Galatians assumes that we'll reach out when we're overwhelmed. As my Dad always said, we can't fix what we don't know is broken. My problem was mine to fix, but it's also my responsibility to recognize when I need help and to be humble enough to ask. I did reach out for help that day. And my friends and family provided prayer, comfort, and wisdom so I got back on my feet much faster than I would have alone. Are you overwhelmed today? I invite you to ask someone for comfort and prayer and give them the opportunity to fulfill the law of Christ. I'm Valerie Riese and this has been a Candid Moment, for when you just need a little bit of Jesus. You can find even more encouragement by visiting us online at https://CandidlyChristian.com
The other day I saw a graphic on Facebook of Jesus standing on the water during dark and stormy seas. In the background, the caption said “Focus on Me” When you're in the storm, are you focused on Jesus? Hi! I'm Valerie Riese, and the Bible says that when Peter focused on Jesus, Jesus gave him both peace and dominance over the storm that were beyond understanding. Until Peter again focused on the storm and then his capabilities were just like everyone else - terrified and helpless to do anything. The storm is going to rage matter what. Are you going to sit in the boat paralyzed with fear? Or are you going to focus on Jesus so that He can give you His peace and ability to handle the storm in a better way? I need to remember this when my storms rage and I hope it encourages you. I'm Valerie Riese and this has been a Candid Moment, for when you just need a little bit of Jesus.
