In Part 3 of our 3 Part parenting series with child behavioral specialist Jamie Waldvogel, we discuss "What to teach when the switch is on". The switch being the topic we discussed in Part 1. When your child exhibits unwanted behavior, do you know what you want your child to be doing instead of that behavior? You don't? That's ok, I didn't either!! Never really gave it a thought! Until I met Jamie. In this episode, we talk with Jamie about the skills that many children are missing, and the reason why those missing skills are preventing them from exhibiting wanted behavior. This is Part 2 of our 3 Part parenting series with child behavioral specialist Jamie Waldvogel. In this episode we discuss, "Why ignoring isn't enough". Many well meaning people will tell you to ignore your child's unwanted behavior because giving that behavior attention will only encourage your child to do it again and again. Right? And that theory makes sense, but is there a better way? Yes, yes there is! In this episode, Jamie provides us with a better way. She teaches us how to capitalize on the power of our attention, which Jamie refers to as "Doses of Attention". Learn this technique and start using it in your day to day parenting life to create a more joyful experience with your children. This is Part 1 of our 3 Part parenting series with child behavioral specialist Jamie Waldvogel. In this episode we discuss, "Why your consequences aren't enough". Consequences may work in the short-term; however, they do not teach your child new behaviors or skills. Because of this, that unwanted behavior is going to continue. In this episode, we learn from Jamie why we need more than consequences to help our children develop. And how using these new skills can create a happier and healthier home environment for both you and your child. Being a Chief Holistic Officer is about exploring ways to improve your life as a whole. Holistically looking at your life. Because focusing on only 1 area, say work, doesn’t do enough. Everything is intertwined. As much as we all want to say we can shut off work when we are at home or we can shut off home when we are at work, the reality is, we can’t. What happens in one place effects the other. So, we need to work on them simultaneously. Being your main CHO, I will bring you topics and introduce you to experts who will help you, and me, explore new ways of doing things. And then it is your job to put your CHO hat on, take ownership and take that 1st step towards a better life. And I will be taking those steps with you, because don’t think for a second, just because I'm the one behind this microphone, that I have all this shit figured out!! I do not and that is the reason I created this podcast, so I can also learn!
