If you're starting now (or starting over), we have four real estate investing strategies that still work in 2025 (and most likely will in 2026) for beginner-friendly budgets and solid returns. This week, Scott sat down with co-hosts emeritus Benjamin Wittes and Alan Rozenshtein, and Senior Editor Kate Klonick, to talk through the week's big national security news stories, including:“Cracks in the Foundation.” The conservative Heritage Foundation—and the broader conservative movement it plays a central role in—has been going through a very public crisis over the past week after its president, Kevin Roberts, came to the defense of right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson after Carlson chose to host white nationalist Nick Fuentes on his podcast. This has led to resignations at the Heritage Foundation, condemnation by certain figures on the right, and a pseudo apology by Roberts. It has also led to a little bit of a reckoning over how some on the right, and to some extent Americans more broadly, have dealt with accusations of anti-Semitism, its relationship to various policy questions, as well as hate speech and other political perspectives. What should we be making of this crisis and what does it tell us about the different policy aspects that intersect with this question of anti-Semitism?“Turning Back the Clock.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent promised that President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping would “consummate” a TikTok deal at their face-to-face last week. But no details have emerged to date. What should we make of this apparent hold-up—and of the TikTok saga altogether? “A Foe By Any Other Name.” As the Trump administration has continued its military campaign against narcotics traffickers in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, U.S. officials have continued to draw parallels between current policies and the Global War on Terrorism, calling detainees “unlawful enemy combatants” and the groups being targeted “designated terrorist organizations.” “If you are a narco-terrorist…,” Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently tweeted in relation to one of the strikes, “we will treat you like we treat Al-Qaeda.” But how accurate are these parallels, and why is the Trump administration deploying them in this way?In object lessons, Ben brings you a little announcement that is shorter than this sentence—you're just going to have to listen to find out. Alan, hungry for more genre fiction, is diving into The Divine Cities trilogy, starting with “City of Stairs,” by Robert Jackson Bennett. Scott is going out of this world with what he calls “the nerdiest object lesson” he's ever brought to RatSec: Pioneer, a tabletop role-playing game that has “launched” on Kickstarter. And Kate, not to be outdone in nerdom, displays maybe the mathiest vegetable: the beautiful romanesco. To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare. A new survey finds that moderately religious Americans are the most likely to say that they see dead people. Which raises a question—why are the non-religious and the very religious less likely to report encounters with the departed? New York Times columnist Ezra Klein says that by over-emphasizing inclusivity, the Democratic Party has ironically become less inclusive. And Ryan Burge looks at the numbers behind the party's growing "God problem." Will the Democrats ever figure out how to compete against MAGA? New Testament scholar N.T. Wright is back to discuss his latest book, "The Vision of Ephesians." He tells Skye that the modern church has overemphasized the gospel importance of going to heaven and underemphasized the gospel importance of church unity. In this episode Jimmy seeks to dispel misinformation about he SNAP program, which provides food assistance to low income Americans. He points out that nearly one-third of Americans are low-income and two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled individuals.  He also points out that the U.S., despite being the richest nation in history, prioritizes foreign spending—such as aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Argentina—over feeding its own citizens. This, he says, is evidence of a declining empire manipulated by billionaire and corporate interests that have captured both major political parties. He concludes that the growing wealth gap, rising inflation, and political distraction over culture wars reflect a system that serves elites while ordinary Americans struggle to survive. Plus segments on the surprising outcome of Trump's tariff trade war with China and FBI head Kash Patel's reaction to being caught using a government jet to attend a pro wrestling event with his girlfriend. Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this episode of The Wright Report, Bryan covers Democrats' sweeping election victories, Trump's call to end the Senate filibuster, the possibility of an end to the historic government shutdown, cartel violence in Mexico, and Trump's warning about nuclear weapons testing. Democrats Sweep Elections Nationwide: It was a strong night for Democrats across the country. In Virginia, they won the governor's mansion, attorney general, and 13 new House seats — a political "bloodbath," as local analysts called it. Former CIA officer Abigail Spanberger became governor, while Jay Jones — who once joked about killing a Republican lawmaker and his children — was elected attorney general. Bryan warns these results reveal a growing radicalism within the Left that Americans can't afford to ignore. New York City Elects Its First Socialist Mayor: Zohran Mamdani won handily with foreign-born voters and young progressives, promising free housing, gun bans, and state control over industries. Bryan compares his victory to a "virus of humanity" spreading nationwide, warning that socialism's false promise of "free for all" could gain traction if Republicans fail to deliver economic results. Trump Pushes to End the Filibuster: President Trump renewed his call to eliminate the Senate filibuster after the Democratic sweep, urging Republicans to "terminate it" to pass voter reform and economic bills. Bryan argues that fears of Democrats abusing power later are misplaced — "that horse has already left the barn." Shutdown Nearing Resolution: Ten Democrat senators are now willing to negotiate a deal to reopen the government, marking the longest shutdown in U.S. history. A short-term plan could fund the military while delaying fights over Obamacare subsidies until December. Mexico's Cartel War and Trump's Dilemma: After the murder of Michoacán's mayor by the Jalisco cartel, Trump is weighing covert CIA and special forces operations inside Mexico. Bryan says the President is torn between patience and decisive action — and both paths carry enormous risk. Nuclear Testing and Rising Tensions: The U.S. will restart nuclear weapons testing for the first time since the 1990s, citing proof that Russia and China are secretly conducting their own tests. Bryan explains how new nuclear-powered cruise missiles and underwater drones are reshaping the global threat landscape.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: 2025 election results Democrats sweep, Abigail Spanberger governor Virginia, Jay Jones attorney general threat scandal, Zohran Mamdani socialist NYC mayor, Trump filibuster termination call, U.S. government shutdown negotiations, Michoacán mayor cartel murder, Trump CIA operations Mexico, U.S. nuclear testing restart, Russia China cruise missile Poseidon drone

Fortunately, he and his team still ran well, but Des coaches Kara up on how she can be a better specator next year ;). We also get an update on Des's knee and whether or not she will be racing the 50-miler this weekend after running 26.2 in NYC. Then, it's all about New York where Des and Kara mix together Des's run with Anthony Ramos (to an impressive 4:44) with the excitement in the elite races, especially on the women's side. Did Des really experience what it's like to run with the masses in the main field, or is she still a little bit elitist?! How are her legs feeling after 26.2 miles in what might have been her longest run ever by time on her feet? How about that exciting women's race where so many Americans were in the mix and then Obiri, Lokedi, and Chepkirui fended off the challenges from Hassan who just wouldn't go away?! Plus, what about the men's near-photo finish and amazing races for all of the top Americans? What a day in NYC which never disappoints! Special thanks to new sponsor Celcius for sponsoring this episode's top 5 to close the episode. Yes, Celcius is an energy drink but did you know they have electrolyte-based hydration powders with no caffeine as well? Kara and Des are both fans so check them out!

In this special episode of American Thought Leaders, I visited the Food Independence Summit, an annual event dedicated to homesteading, sustainable living, and reclaiming food autonomy, in Walnut Creek, Ohio. The 2025 summit, with a theme of “Seed to Spoon,” took place in mid-June earlier this year in the heart of Ohio's Amish country.Homesteaders, farmers, gardeners, educators, and healthy food advocates spent two days together participating in hands-on workshops, listening to keynote presentations, and networking with like-minded people. For many Americans, the COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of supply chains, including the food supply chain. The summit's focus was on learning how to grow, preserve, and prepare homegrown food. While at the summit, I spoke with organizer John Miller to learn about the philosophy behind this growing homesteading and self-sufficiency movement. I also spoke with renowned farmer Joel Salatin about what new trends he's seeing.I even got some hands-on practice pressure-canning beef tacos with the help of Sarah Thrush, a canning expert and social media influencer.“There's a lot of reasons people can, but one of them is so they can decide what goes in the jar, like if you have health concerns, or if you want to know what your food is sourced from, or you just like your chili recipe and you want it in bulk,” Thrush said. “It's like the ultimate meal prep.”I also spoke to physician Julian Douwes, who flew to Ohio all the way from Germany. Dr. Douwes is the director at Clinicum St. Georg in Bad Aibling, Germany, where they developed the first known cure for Lyme disease. Many people in the Ohio Amish community suffer from Lyme disease. Miller himself was cured from an awful case of the disease through this therapy, called whole-body hyperthermia.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Sami and Paul also focus on the historic victories by two Democrat women vets for Governor: Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia, the failures of Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, the impact of independent voters, and two things that are really good to end a chaotic time.  Because every episode of Independent Americans with Paul Rieckhoff breaks down the most important news stories--and offers light to contrast the heat of other politics and news shows. The media wants you to believe last night’s election results were some kind of setback for President Trump and the Republican Party. But that’s just another lie from the left-wing echo chamber. The truth is, these results exposed exactly what the Democrat Party has become — the party of socialists, communists, and radicals who are completely out of touch with real Americans. Grant explains why Winsome Sears lost in Virginia and why Mamdani won in New York. The assessment doesn't bode well for Democrats. Grant Stinchfield breaks down the numbers, the messaging, and the media spin — showing how the results actually reveal a growing embrace of a far-left agenda. But that embrace is NOT happening everywhere. From open borders to anti-police policies, voters are waking up to the reality that Democrats no longer stand for anything, much less, the working man. This isn’t a loss for America First — it’s proof the socialist machine has hijacked the Democrat Party. https://GrantLovesGold.com Https://Get20Now.com www.EnergizedHealth.com/Grant www.PatriotMobile.com/Grant Https://Twc.Health/Grant Use "Grant" for 10% Off See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, we need to rid the Republican Party, the movement, and constitutional conservatism of bigots, racists, anti-Semites, and anti-Americans. These low lives, like Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon and Nick Fuentes, dishonor the greatest generation that defeated Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini. It's a time for choosing between the good guys and the bad guys, America or the Third Reich/Soviet Union. Republicans must stand up and confront the spread unlike Democrats who allowed it.  Later, electing Zohran Mamdani in New York City would lead to its downfall, causing investors, businesses and residents to flee and the city's capitalist core will be destroyed, just like London and Paris. Mamdani and his supporters like Linda Sarsour refuse assimilate and instead aim to conquer, devour, and dismantle the culture, police, communities, private property rights, and economy. This would attract unassimilated individuals from afar, harden electoral battles, and escalate into a cultural war beyond politics, with devastating effects on education, policing, healthcare, and wealth redistribution, driving successful people away.  After, the Democrats in New Jersey caused high electricity bills and property taxes by cutting off traditional energy supplies and relying on ineffective primitive technologies like wind and solar, driven by ideology over practical knowledge. Voters need to reject the Democrat government mismanagement. Voting Democrat means more of the same destruction as seen in California, Finally, Winsome Earle-Sears, a Black women running for Virginia Governor, undermines the Democrat's identity politics and propaganda. Barack Obama campaigned for Abigail Spanberger, a White women running for Virginia Governor, who pretends to be moderate but votes radically left. This election is about ideology from the third world and seventh century, not race. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Robert McNamara Thought Enough Data Could Win Any War. Instead, It Led America to the Vietnam Quagmire

Robert S. McNamara, who was Secretary of Defense during JFK and LBJ’s administrations, and one of the chief architects of the Vietnam war, made a shocking confession in his 1995 memoir. He said “We were wrong, terribly wrong.” McNamara believed this as early as 1965, that the Vietnam War was unwinnable. Yet, instead of urging U.S. forces to exit, he continued to preside over the war as President Lyndon B. Johnson’s principal wartime advisor. It would be eight more years until the United States officially withdrew from Vietnam. By then, 58,000 Americans and millions of Vietnamese had lost their lives. Why did McNamara fight so hard to escalate a war that he’d soon realize was beyond winning? Why was he so loyal to LBJ, whom he’d later describe as “crude, mean, vindictive, scheming, and untruthful”? While these questions are personal, the answers are vital to our understanding of the Vietnam War and American foreign policy at large. Today’s guest is Philip Taubman, author of “McNamara Wat War: A New History.” We look at McNamara’s early life and how he epitomized the 20th-century technocratic 'whiz kid' through his Harvard-honed data analysis skills, which he applied to optimize the firebombing of Tokyo during WWII and later revolutionized Ford Motor Company as president, using statistical efficiency to drive innovation. His technocratic approach shaped U.S. strategy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War, where he relied on data-driven decision-making, though with mixed results, notably escalating Vietnam based on flawed metrics like body counts. We look at how ultimately, McNamara’s war was not only in Vietnam. He was also at war with himself—riven by melancholy, guilt, zealous loyalty, and a profound inability to admit his flawed thinking about Vietnam before it was too late.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Pastors plead for intervention as caskets stack like cordwood—62,000 dead since 2000—and the Pentagon drops a stark warning to these faith-killers. Then, in our fiery reaction block, we unleash the ultimate taxpayer revolt: a blistering Fax Blast to Congress exposing Democrats' SNAP scam, where illegals gorge on $2.4M fraud rings and 59% welfare abuse via anchor babies, surging costs 40% under Biden's border betrayal. At the same time, the unemployment rate for white Americans dropped slightly to below 4%.
