Chronicles of the Pure

Today let us remember that often we are faced with the decision to press forward or to stay stagnant. The inward propulsion towards 'destiny' is initiated by intrinsic motivation. That is to say: it must start from the inside of us rather than by the occurrences around us. This motivation comes from the Spirit of God and by His planted word. We must rely on what God has deposited in us to get us where we need to be. Sometimes it feels like we are kicking against a brick wall. Yet even with emotional, situational, physical, financial, and spiritual barriers, we must still choose to push towards God. We must awake with minds focus on victory even if we don't feel it. Setting our minds unswervingly to live in obedience to God. This pursuit does not presume that setbacks won't occur, but it simply means our commitment is sure. Today, let's focus on the thought that what we physically see is (at most) half of the story. Today's notion is one of remembrance: God is Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. The Spirit exists simultaneously and pervasively amidst temporal time. There is an authentic but unseen reality in which God is very powerfully at work, which has a direct impact on our lives. We must be able to recognize the intervention of the unseen in our present experiences. In order to understand the plans of God, we must quiet our hearts to focus our vision on what is unseen rather than seen. Today, let's focus on the essential skill of talking to yourself. It may sound off the cuff, but did you know that the Scripture teaches us to speak to ourselves, to encourage ourselves, and remind ourselves about the truth.  Sometimes we get so caught up in what is occurring around us that we are unaware of the impact of our voices. We can bring our emotions and environments back into alignment by merely talking to ourselves. For the Scripture, indeed does say, that the power of life and death abides in the tongue. It goes further to say that "those who love it will eat the fruit thereof." When we are lost in the sauce, it's prime opportunity to get swept away by the deluge. Through it all, we must take our time to refocus and align with the more significant impact of what we experience. And, in this thought, we must rest:  God is sufficient for everything we face. Today let's focus on the notion that we were created for more. We often get caught in the monotony of life and feel like we will never escape it. We work hard, sleep and do it all over again. But there is another perspective of life, I beg that you seriously consider it. You were put on this earth for a purpose, which has been imprinted on your life - some say even in your mother's womb. Does everyone attain that purpose? Absolutely not but what if you did? How would that make your life different, your children's lives different, even your children's children's lives? We need to live every day remembering that our perspective of ourselves will directly affect our lives in the present and the future. You see, if you are a child of God then you are a joint heir with Christ. This means that all that His is ours. Now Jesus was an extraordinary person. Yes, He was both God and man. Yet, we have the same Spirit leading and directing us today. We, too, are meant to be extraordinary. What this looks like in our lives is to be determined by the Lord. We should be constantly, persistently and insistently searching the Spirit in order to attain the knowledge of who we are to be so that we can walk in faith to this end. If we lived with this perspective - a lot of things would be different. When you know who you are, you don't settle for less. You don't get caught up in the trifles of life. You live on purpose. You walk in your authority given by the Lord. You engage the world on your terms (established by and in God). You were meant to be extraordinary. Today, remember to stay woke! There are many instances in which we can allow in suggestions, temptations, and negative seeds, which will ultimately contaminate our beings. Be aware of those seeds lest they infiltrate your systems and wreak havoc on your spiritual state. When you feel distanced from God, shameful, fearful - a seed has been planted. Keep your eyes and heart pure before the Lord! Today, let's focus on the benefit of confessions. I'm sure many of us pictured the wooden booth with an inward partition separating parishioner and priest, most notably recognized as a practice of the Catholic tradition. However, I'm not specifically referring to the location of confession as much as the posture of openness. No matter where you are or who you are with, confession reaps a benefit for your soul. The act of confession is simply the verbal acknowledgment of what is inwardly felt and experienced. As the adage goes, "Confession is good for the soul." The adage is true. There is a redemptive, cleansing, and refreshing effect of sacred confession. We have our Lord with whom we may confess. We also may have trusted individuals who may serve as willing, open hearts that help to bear our burdens. Remember that, at times, getting it off your chest through confession can be the difference between a state of peace and pain. This morning, let's focus on the fact that our grounding comes from the Word of God. The Logos, or the revealed written Word, is given by God to inspire, develop, correct, and build us up in the faith. Neglecting to read the Word of God is essentially neglecting to feed your spirit. What would happen if you neglect to feed your body? We all know this answer. The same notion happens to your spirit and soul. We can not expect to flourish without nourishment. The Word of God brings grounding and spiritual fortitude no matter the season of life. Its power is not to be underestimated because reading it is not like just reading any ordinary book. For these writings are not just words, but they are living and work the Life of God into your very being. Today, let's focus on planting in the 'small place.' Waiting elicits feelings of smallness, being stifled and stuck.  Yet, even in this place, God is building a foundation of something greater.  Though while we are here, we must be aware that these moments are purposeful; otherwise, we will squander them.  Jon Kabat-Zinn coins the phrase, "Wherever you go,  there you are."  This statement's focus is to be mindful of our present experiences. If I may reach to say,  God's word first provided this method of being present many years before this modern philosophy. The idea that we must be conscious of where we are today. Feel how we feel. See what we see but, most importantly, make the most of the present space. Today, let's focus on our ability to reflect the one who is within us! There is a whole lot that could come out of us in periods of waiting - angst, anger, depression, pain, entitled behavior, self-centeredness - the list could go on and on. Yet, how about centering yourself on this thought: "Greater is He in you." If Jesus Christ is truly your Lord and life, then you have Him and the Holy Spirit. So why not allow Him to shine through you today? Wait for moments in which you can feel His leading. Ask Him to show you His path for today. Be obedient to when you feel His prompting. Be intentionally given over to Him today, allow Him to shine through you. The scriptures are clear: there is an enemy that seeks to divert you from your intended purpose in life. Waiting is one of the most opportune times for this enemy to make suggestions, try to manipulate your thinking and even try to divert you from your God-ordained path. Be alert! Be active and be on guard. Keep yourself grounded in prayer, in worship, and in praise. For it is through your redirection to the light of the Lord Jesus, that your victory will come. Waiting is hard but it becomes even harder when our focus is not intentionally, strategically and habitually set on Jesus. As it is at those times, we give space for great distractions to knock us out of position. Living according to the direction of the Holy Spirit occurs from the inside out. The temperature of our souls affect the actions we choose.  In order to be fit for the service of the Lord, the process we encounter happens from the inside out. An inward awareness of the alerts the Holy Spirit provides about inward inconsistencies will aid us in being fashioned for our purpose. From the busiest to most mundane, momentary dependance (or cooperating with the Holy Spirit) on the Lord is the key to a purposeful life. 

This podcast explores the differences between ideals and reality in a walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. When the rubber hits the road, we must ask the question is our commitment sound? Life has a way of weeding out our intentions and our undeniable actions. This is no difference in our relationships with God. Are we truly committed to Him or are we ideally committed to Him? At some point our ideals need to become our reality or we will never experience the depth of what it means to live in the Kingdom of God. His Kingdom has come but our commitment must be sure.

We often have to put on our realistic caps and recognize our lives for what they truly contain. As we journey with the Lord, we have to be reminded that the road is never easy. It is one meant to provide polishing to our imperfect beings and to ultimately tell the story of the Lord Jesus Christ through us. The question is, "are we willing?" For the willing, though the road may seem hard, its is impeccably beautiful. There are metaphorical valleys that we reach, which lead us to breath taking views of our trajectories. This podcast is dedicated to realism in our walk with the Lord and restructuring every moment to know that beauty, too, will come out of our stories.

Opening episode introducing 'Chronicles of the Pure' podcast.  There is one virtue that is undeniable for those who have a sincere walk with the Lord Jesus, which is, simply, dedication to Him above all else. Biblically, this principle is called holiness. Simply meaning being set apart in submission to the Lord. This is not an easy journey. Chronicles of the Pure is dedicated to reflecting on the principles of holiness and practicing it daily.
