After nearly 60 years, Van Buskirk Park Golf Course closed for good on Saturday, Aug. 31. San Joaquin County District 1 Supervisor Miguel Villapudua, his brother Andy Villapudua, and friends Ray Romo and Chris Rouppet and Jose Santiago, the former golf pro at Van Buskirk, share their thoughts and memories of the course.
After a two-year hiatus, the Lodi Musical Theater Performing Arts company presents the Broadway hit musical "Mama Mia!" from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1 at San Joaquin Delta College's Tillie Lewis Theater. The company's owner and creative director Nicole Howton and cast members Kirsten Lerner, who plays Sophie Sheridan, and Johanna Scott, who plays her mother, Donna Sheridan, talk about the musical and the return of the Lodi Musical Theater. Lodi native Mike Millerick started StocktonCon because of his deep appreciation of pop culture and comic book artistry. His event has become an annual highlight on the area's social calendar and is similar to Comic Con in San Diego. StocktonCon attracts fans from throughout California. One of the Stockton's most exclusive neighborhoods is in the midst of making a decision that will impact its future for years. Residents of the Brookside neighborhood are at odds over a proposal that would require all homeowners who live behind the gates to pay a $50 monthly fee that would go directly to Brookside Country Club.
