Islam Makhachev broke the UFC record for most consecutive victories on Saturday night in Philadelphia, but he had to work a lot harder than most thought he would. In the end, it wasn't a thrilling battle, but Makhachev did enough to defeat a game Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 to retain the welterweight title. Following the event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew react to UFC 330, Makhachev's win over Machado Garry, discuss the big takeaways, and potential struggles Makhachev could find himself in against Carlos Prates and Michael Morales. Additionally, topics include Mackenzie Dern's lopsided win over Gillian Robertson in her successful co-main event title defense, Zhang Weili potentially returning to challenge Dern, other standout moments, the shocking upsets that happened, and much more. Lorenzo Fiori describes a "disaster" situation in Europe caused by severe drought and record heat, with water restrictions implemented in Swiss towns and critically low levels in northern Italy's Po River. The drought has turned the normally green Alps brown and disrupted lake navigation. Simultaneously, Sicily's Mount Etna has entered a prolonged eruption phase, spewing ash for seven days and forcing the cancellation of 700 flights at Catania airport during the peak tourist season. Fiori notes the chaos caused by tourists seeking "eruption selfies" in dangerous areas. For a cultural reprieve, he recommends the Bernina Express rail journey, which reaches the highest railway point in Europe. He also shares a traditional recipe for polenta with Gorgonzola cheese, paired with local Valtellina wine, though he expresses concern that the drought may soon impact milk production from Alpine cows. We Fell In Love Thanks To Sobriety w/ Nic And Ant (@nic_n_ant) | The Hopeaholics Podcast #353Nicole and Anthony one of the most recognized and popular sober/recovery couples in social media. They met in a recovery meeting in 2018. She had six years and he was 60 days out of detox. His first year clean was a mess. Lies, cheating, not working a program. Both going through divorces simultaneously, his kids hating Nicole, his ex-wife's family leaving homewrecker comments in the comment section for years. They broke up and kept finding their way back. Nicole got clean at 21. Before that: 92 pounds, homeless, sheets over every mirror because she couldn't look at herself, months in the same blue dress without showering. Five arrests starting at 19 — selling drugs on felony probation, assault with a deadly weapon, possession. Stealing painkillers off a dying aunt on hospice and still not stopping. Anthony's path started with a work injury and a prescription. Heroin, then speed, then the needle. He took his son to baseball practice, dropped him off, and sat in the car getting high. He left his family mid-vacation in Montauk, drove four hours home to pawn the Rolex his wife had saved up to buy him, and went on a two-day run. When he came back, she told him: get help or you'll never see these kids again. In this episode of the Brain & Life Podcast, co-host Dr. Daniel Correa is joined by actress, comedian, playwright, and storyteller Lauren Weedman. Lauren discusses her diagnosis of Bell's palsy after developing a sudden facial paralysis while filming in 2024 and how it changed her outlooks on work, motherhood, and mental health. Dr. Correa is then joined by Dr. Gary Gronseth, Professor and Chair of Neurology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Gronseth explains what Bell's palsy is, why it happens, what recovery typically looks like, and why some people—like Lauren Weedman—continue to experience lasting symptoms long after the initial diagnosis.

Growth rarely feels comfortable—especially when your business is deeply connected to your purpose, your gifts, and your identity. In this episode of the Money Lighthouse Podcast for Spiritual Entrepreneurs, Michel explores why discomfort is such a natural part of entrepreneurship and why feeling uncertain, nervous, or stretched doesn't necessarily mean you're moving in the wrong direction.Listeners will learn how to distinguish between expansion discomfort, misalignment discomfort, and nervous system discomfort, while exploring the ways spiritual practices can sometimes unintentionally become tools for avoiding the very growth they are meant to support. Rather than pushing through fear with hustle or forcing themselves into action, spiritual entrepreneurs are invited to develop a wiser relationship with discomfort—one rooted in curiosity, discernment, self-trust, and gentle courage.Michel also shares practical and spiritual tools for moving through uncomfortable seasons of business, including taking smaller courageous steps, creating a personal “brave container,” celebrating attempts rather than outcomes, and reframing discomfort as an initiation into the next version of themselves. The invitation is simple but powerful: perhaps discomfort isn't always a stop sign. Sometimes, it is a signal that something meaningful is asking to expand.Action Steps After ListeningIdentify your current discomfort. Choose one area of your business that feels uncomfortable right now—visibility, pricing, selling, launching, technology, reaching out, or something else. Ask yourself whether this feels like expansion discomfort, misalignment discomfort, or nervous system discomfort.Take one small courageous step. Instead of trying to conquer the entire fear, make the step smaller. Send one email. Make one invitation. Raise the price on one offer. Record one video. Let your nervous system gather evidence that you can move through discomfort safely.Create your own “brave container.” Develop a simple ritual that helps you feel grounded before doing something uncomfortable. This might include prayer, meditation, journaling, lighting a candle, taking a few deep breaths, or connecting with a trusted business friend.Celebrate courage instead of measuring only results. At the end of the week, make a list of the uncomfortable things you attempted—regardless of the outcome. Begin building your own “courage library” of evidence that you are capable of growing, stretching, and showing up for your calling.Journaling PromptsWhat discomfort am I currently experiencing in my business, and what might it be trying to tell me?Is this discomfort asking me to change direction—or is it asking me to expand my capacity? If I stopped waiting to feel completely ready, what small courageous step would I take next?If you've been wondering whether the discomfort you're experiencing means you're on the wrong path, this episode may offer a different perspective.Sometimes growth doesn't arrive feeling peaceful, certain, or perfectly aligned. Sometimes it arrives with butterflies, shaky knees, unanswered questions, and an invitation to trust yourself a little more deeply.Listen to this episode of the Money Lighthouse Podcast for Spiritual Entrepreneurs and discover how to meet discomfort with greater curiosity, courage, and spiritual discernment. And if there is another spiritual entrepreneur in your life who is standing at the edge of something new—raising their prices, becoming more visible, launching an offering, or simply trying to trust themselves enough to take the next step—please share this episode with them.Sometimes the reminder we most need is this:Discomfort is not always a stop sign. Sometimes, it is the doorway to expansion.Contact:michel@moneylighthouse.com

Sam Smith burst onto the music scene in 2014 with their début album, “In the Lonely Hour.” It was one of the best-selling albums of the decade and won Smith three Grammys, for Best Pop Vocal Album and both Record and Song of the Year, for the massive hit “Stay With Me.” Smith's early hits were ballads of heartbreak and unrequited love, so their new album marks something of a change: it's an album of love songs, requited in this case. Many were written about Smith's fiancé, the fashion designer Christian Cowan. Smith talked about the writing process that led to their new album “Hazel Eyes,” which comes out August 21st, with New Yorker Radio Hour producer Jeffrey Masters. Today's Headlines: Trump signed an executive order overriding the CDC's vaccine schedule authority, requiring the MMR vaccine to be broken into three separate shots at separate visits — while claiming he broke up his own kids' vaccines into five stops because he's "seen proof" that vaccines cause autism, which he described as a soda bottle poured into a child's body. Trump also admitted there was "some contractor error" with the reflecting pool while continuing to accuse a former Olympian of vandalism even though charges were dropped, and appointed a Project 2025 co-author as inspector general of the department that will review the reflecting pool renovation. On the tech beat, Meta and TikTok lost their attempt to dismiss thousands of lawsuits claiming their platforms are deliberately addictive and harmful to teenagers. Mark Zuckerberg responded to the cultural moment by releasing a 6,500-word AI manifesto arguing everyone's concerns are overblown and America needs to beat China anyway. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders sent a strongly worded letter urging OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta to pause AI development, citing all three companies reporting their own models going rogue in recent weeks and a petition signed by over 1,200 AI employees calling for an international safety framework. In scary weather news, July 2026 was the hottest month ever recorded in the United States going back to 1895, with NOAA forecasting more of the same through August. Finally, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake — the strongest recorded in the 21st century — hit Colombia and Ecuador, killing at least 111 people with many still missing. Joe McConaughy was a college miler who had never raced anything longer than a mile when he Googled "run the Pacific Crest Trail" at 22 years old. 53 days and 2,600 miles later, he held the speed record. Joe De Sena sits down with Joe, a trail runner, coach, race director, and new dad, to break down what actually happens to your body and mind past day 40 of a multi-day speed record, why he spent the final 15 days running on a peg leg after his ankle lost function, and the hallucination at the top of Mount Whitney where an imaginary man named Andre offered to take his watch and finish the record for him. They cover the 50-to-90-percent grind zone where every race is won or lost, how an invisible competitor on a GPS tracker squeezed a stronger finish out of McConaughy than any training block ever could, and why he calls ultra running a silly, selfish sport. Things You Will Learn: Why the middle of every race, from a 5K to a 2,600-mile record attempt, is where performance is decided. Why a D1 college miler with zero ultra experience set a 2,600-mile speed record at 22 and what broke along the way. The differences among short, medium, and long multi-day efforts, and how sleep strategy changes for each. Tools & Frameworks Covered: The 50–90% Grind Zone: Between halfway and 90% of any race distance, you will believe it is impossible or that it will never end. Expect it. Plan for it. Push through it. Internal vs. External Activation" Ninety percent of an ultra is you against yourself. The remaining 10% can unlock performance you cannot access alone. Build external pressure into your race plan. Miles Over Smiles / Smiles Over Miles: The grind is real. The suffering is real. But if the process does not fill your cup on the other side, you will not keep showing up long enough to get good. Revenue growth is the metric every business celebrates. Record quarters become press releases, and the top line becomes a proxy for health. But when the revenue line on a P&L keeps climbing while the profit line doesn't, growth stops being a sign of success and starts functioning as a cover story. Ben Hansen, CEO of Profit Doctor and founder of an 8-figure staffing firm, built a team of over 100 employees in eight years while maintaining profitable growth. He now works with companies earning between $2 and $50 million in annual revenue, and most see meaningful profit improvements within 12 weeks. In this episode, he covers: Why growth often hides profit problems rather than solving them, and the P&L signals that reveal the gap before it gets painful How to align middle management incentives around profitability rather than revenue alone, including real-world examples that work at the rank-and-file level What HR leaders should do before entering cost-cutting conversations, and how to frame the employee value trade-off in a way that gets real buy-in Timestamps [00:00:37] Defining profititis: when top-line revenue is strong but net profitability is weak, declining, or sick [00:01:25] Why growth often hides profit problems rather than solving them, and what owners typically deprioritize in the process [00:03:14] The most common root cause of profititis: serving customers and offering products outside your core sweet spot [00:04:37] A cyclical approach to balancing innovation with staying in your profitable lane [00:05:42] Why people spend hurts profitability at two levels: payroll growth rate and the quality and fit of talent [00:08:28] Why HR should do the cost-benefit analysis on every program before walking into the cost-cutting meeting [00:09:35] Ben's approach with his own 100-person team: asking employees whether they'd rather have higher salary or richer benefits [00:12:19] Why incentivizing managers on revenue while hoping they'll protect profit guarantees misaligned behavior [00:14:05] Translating a financial target into a metric the whole team can act on: the revenue-per-labor-hour example [00:19:27] The construction company that went from break-even for 20 years to 20%+ net profit in nine months by communicating labor budgets Brought to You by Paylocity Paylocity is the fastest growing unified platform for HR, Finance, and IT. Send us Fan MailLong before Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson got credit for starting outlaw country, Johnny Cash was already living it. This episode of Once Around the Country traces how a poor farm boy from Arkansas, born with only initials for a name, became the man behind one of the most legendary live albums ever recorded. The episode covers Johnny's growing outlaw reputation, his arrests, his drug use, and the empathy he developed for the men he met behind bars.
