SURF NAZIS MUST DIE & SURF NINJAS are HORRIBLE movies, but they have some WISDOM hidden inside. We take these two movies and their scripts and perform some Lectio Divina and unpack the parts of the movie that challenge us to CHANGE OUR LIVES. In this episode, we tackle the heavy word GRIEF. Every single person has struggled with questioning their faith, especially when experiencing grief. Grief is unavoidable, dealing with it is often where we have the most hangups. In this episdoe we break out and get really honest about some of the stuff we have gone through and how we have learned to process it better using the scripts from two horrible surfing movies made in the early 90's.      LAMENTATIONS 3:16-22 (referenced towards end of the episode)  He ground my face into the gravel.     He pounded me into the mud. I gave up on life altogether.     I've forgotten what the good life is like. I said to myself, “This is it. I'm finished.     God is a lost cause. 19-21 I'll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness,     the taste of ashes, the poison I've swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember—     the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there's one other thing I remember,     and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: 22-24 God's loyal love couldn't have run out,     his merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning.     How great your faithfulness! I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over).     He's all I've got left.

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE & DOLITTLE (2020) are HORRIBLE movies, but they have some surprising WISDOM hidden inside. We take these two movies and their scripts and perform some Lectio Divina and unpack the parts of the movie that challenge us to CHANGE OUR LIVES. In this episode, the team tackles the concept of butterfly moments and how that correlates to interacting with the Holy Spirit. Sometimes what we are called to do is terrifying, but it could change the course of not just our life, but it could be the change needed in someone else's life.  IF you want to follow along with us we talk about the story in Acts 3 1:11   "One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, at three o'clock in the afternoon. And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for alms from those entering the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, ‘Look at us.' And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, ‘I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,* stand-up and walk.' And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God, and they recognized him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. While he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's Portico, utterly astonished." -NRSV
