Catching up with Grotbags Paul Roberts in Huntington Beach for a podcast. We talk about Paul's recovery from his leg injury after crashing in the dark while riding back from @epicbmx—mis-timing a curb and ending up on crutches, unable to ride for months. We then dive into some of the topics we've seen on social media lately—Is BMX dead? With the industry in a downturn, we talk about how things were in the late '80s and early '90s when we were both part of the downtime after the '80s BMX bubble burst. The riders and brands that stuck around during that period ended up in a good place when the industry bounced back in the mid-'90s. We also dip into a bit of politics for the first time, with so much in the news since the election. Other topics include a potential Neal Wood podcast, Paul's days as Vans UK Team Manager, getting Martin and Stephen Murray on Haro UK, and a few old stories from racing in the UK in the '80s and '90s—including my dad not wanting me to get into a car with Paul to go to a race. And more.

We reach the tragic ending of Mary, Queen of Scots in our rewatch of the vlassic BBC drama. Elizabeth R: Episode 4 - Horrible conspiracies. Directed by Roderick Graham. Written by Hugh Whitemore. Starring Glenda Jackson, Stephen Murray and Vivien Pickles.
Stephen Murray is not only an entrepreneur launching a new film rental platform, he's also a musician and filmmaker. So he understands the pain artists feel trying to get their work out to the world. So he's built Bingable.net, where fans of films can watch movies and participate in the revenue generated from their support of those movies. Full disclosure, I'm a working with Bingeable on the release of a film now and I'm hoping it's wildly success (more to come). If you're like me, you spend a lot of time talking to fellow filmmakers about "the market" and with Bingeable I've found a new avenue for getting work out to the world in an ever shrinking distribution landscape. I think you'll enjoy my conversation with Stephen Murray.
Not to dwell on the past but....... Here's a conversation between James and Elisa Lynch

In the words written in 1926 by "Geoffrey West", the pseudonym of Geoffrey H. Wells: "it ["The Door in the Wall"] was often considered Wells's best short story. This short story has been the base for at least three short films: "The Door in the Wall" (1956), an experimental film directed by Glenn H. Alvey Jr., starred Stephen Murray and Ian Hunter. Dver v stene (1990) was a Soviet animation directed by Boris Akulinichev. The Door (2011) was written and directed by Andrew Steggall, and the cast included Charles Dance and Harriet Walter. Therefore "The Door in the Wall" continues influencing writers and attracting avid readers in the 21st century and surely for the "futures" to come. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-kennedy98/message
