Paolo is trying to draft a new map of the outskirts. This is where those new to the city try to stake their claim on a new life. However, they are not fully accepted or perhaps don't have the money to live in the city itself. So they build their homes just outside of the city in an area called the Outskirts. This is where ht orcs, kobolds, goblins, the teilfings, or anyone else who want to join society all start. And he is asked to make a map. Something he finds boring, so he asks you to do it for him. Lorenka is sure that she is making progress on her life. She has gotten a rejection from the Sorcerer's College. Not the right direction, but she feels this is a step in the right direction because now they recognize her. Before, she was just an orc, for all the negative that came with it. She has been doing a lot of reading, and lately she has found out that some of the early artificers in the city used the Amber Pustules in their early illumination projects. After searching for months on the best way to get into the Festerwood and unlock its secrets, you meet Elliana Surewood. She claims to know all the secrets to the Festerwood, but many others have made this claim. You however, have been tricked before. Guides have robbed their marks, intentionally leaving the people they were supposed to see to safety, lost and abandoned, and left to the mercy of the Savage Hand Orcs, the Kobolds, or whatever other monsters lie in the Festerwood. However Elliana seems different. For one, those who she has guided have lived to tell the tale. People you do know and trust. Elliana, however, does not seem to trust you. To get to know you, she offers to meet you at her favorite place, Joe’s Tavern, and you all can discuss the particulars of the deal. And, if she likes you, she will guide you into the forest and try to teach you a thing or two. Join Melissa, Dylan, Eli, and Ava as they try to get Elliana's help.
The Savage Hand orcs are known for many things: raids in and out of the Festerwood, ambushing mining carts coming from the Great Red Mountain, experimenting with black powder in the countryside, blowing up bridges. They are the dominant orc tribe in the area. The Savage Hand Orcs are not known for wanting to do anything with society. They are not known for magic. They are not known for being polite, wanting to listen to music, have a gentle discussion. But these are the things Lorenka wants. She is a Savage Hand by birth, but there the similarities lie. Her father is the chief, and no one knows why he allows her to come to the city to learn to read, to learn magic. Needless to say, people are skeptical, everyone including the Sorcerer’s Guild, who has thus far denied admission to the Guild to Lorenka. You met Lorenka through Medon, and today, outside of the Sorcerers Guild you find her sitting, eating a cake, staring at the doors of the guild with a wistful look on her face.
A light breeze carries with it a sweet song from up ahead. As you slow down your steps, the song becomes more clear. It is a soulful dirge sung to guide the dead into the afterlife. Through the trees, a hundred feet up the trail you spy the source of the song. A girl of maybe 10 is standing atop a cart piled high with cabbages. She stands just out of reach of some gruesome kobolds surrounding the cart. Her father stands with her. Both are weeping. They stand just out of reach of the gruesome kobolds surrounding the cart. A donkey lies dead on the ground along with a number of cabbages that were thrown to the kobolds. They have attached their own horse to the cart and are not moving too quickly for their next action. The girl looks weary and her voice is beginning to falter. The song, which appears to have placated the kobolds is losing its effect..
Jiorva needs to find a different route to one of the smaller communities to trade his goods. He has enlisted you, the Daredevils, to help him find a shortcut that isn’t on the map that will allow him to move the goods quicker. He got ahead of you all, and you struggle to catch up. The City’s Watch is in a tough place with the emergence of the Night Wolf, someone who comes in and has been doing their work. On one hand, they have been really helpful, taking out some of the crime they were not able to stop. On another hand, it’s making them look bad. One person, it is only one, by all accounts, doing the job of the whole city’s watch. It’s dangerous, but inspiring. The city has contacted you, each guild, to see if you can get to the bottom of it. The kid thinks Darvin did it all.’ ‘He did,’ Sanca said. ‘Where’s my baby?’ At the mine, Jayce runs off ahead. The kobolds that Darvin and Zea took out originally lie this way and that. He climbs down into the crevice he and his team were mining. He was down for just a moment before pulling up a metallic case. Inside were carved a number of runes and symbols, very few are Zea was familiar with. ‘What’s that?’ Darvin asks Zea. ‘We’ll have to ask Eli,’ she says. ### Well now, it looks like our heroes have no idea what is going on.
