In this final episode with Jennifer Shepherd, we explore several elements covered in “Drawn Together Through Visual Practice” a book she contributed to and co-edited. One particular piece we explore is the paradox of how icons provide for quick, efficient communication but can unintentionally appear to represent a dominant group and therefore be exclusionary. Welcome to Learning Paradigms, a podcast for learning facilitators. In this first episode I briefly describe how I want this podcast to serve as a learning experience. First, we learn about what is interesting and new about how the guests think about their work. Second, we can hold up a metaphorical mirror and ask how is the guest’s paradigm similar or different from our own. I personally found this process very powerful in reinforcing or bringing clarity to some thoughts while at the same time helping me see the unique value I bring (we all bring), to the table.Thank you to the four guests who participated in season one of Learning Paradigms: Phil LeNir (CoachingOurselves), Jennifer Shepherd (Living Tapestries), Brie Barker (Connected Conversations), and Carolynne Fletcher Wintrip (Luminus Learning).Thank you to all my family and friends for their support. Special thanks to Katie LeBlanc for the introduction narration and Vani Jane, Irshash Osman, Danika Corbeil-Owens, Zareena Osman, and Fabrizio Del Savio for the Arabic, English, French, Italian and Sinhala background. Lastly, thank you to Phil Lizotte @Philatomic, for the show logo. All of your input kicked off this project with creativity, collaboration and co-creation.You can follow me here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/davideelliott/https://twitter.com/DavidEElliott
