In my thirteenth episode, I shared the story of 10-month-old Marion Jester-Montoya, an adorable and joyful little girl with a head full of dark hair and an ever-present smile. Marion died on January 7, 2020, after her mother's boyfriend, Trevor Rowe, decided that instead of leaving Marion with his mother for the day like he usually did, he would stuff the baby into a backpack and leave her in the trunk of his car all day.Now, I'm re-telling Marion's story from start to finish, including every update I've come across since the original episode. C4RP00L is compromised of three friends Renzo Starr, Michael the Villain, and Kent Danger, originally all from North Carolina. Their journey started when they met at NC State as college students, and they quickly became acquainted one another and realized their synergy musically. Since, they have toured the country performing together, and also released three full length albums as a part of their ‘CREATURE MODE' trilogy: “Vulnerable”, “Velocity”, and “Vicious”, each one representative of a member of the group. Research has long shown that child abuse and neglect can and often do lead to a wide range of negative effects on a person's life, including mental, physical, and behavioral problems. This kind of treatment during childhood causes stress that alters the way the child's brain develops, affects gene expression, and changes the body's stress response system. Kate Russell is the author of three memoirs about her life, describing her painful experiences in detail, from living with a schizoaffective sister to suffering addiction and subsequently recovering. This Saturday August 30 is also Play Music on the Porch Day. The idea behind the international event is what if everybody took one day and stopped and we all just listened to music. Over the last two episodes, I've told you the story of five-year-old Dennis Vaughan Jr., known affectionately as “Boo,” who died in his grandmother's house on Christmas Eve, 2019. Boo's mom, Danielle Vaughan, fought to regain custody of her five kids, all of whom were under the guardianship of Danielle's mother, Sherry Conner. Lawrence Swift Noxon was born in March 1943. At five months old, he was diagnosed with what we now call Down syndrome. Three weeks later, on September 22, 1943, baby Lawrence died from electrocution under highly suspicious circumstances. "High In My Balloon" When it comes to the Grammy-nominated musician and composer Willie Aron, he's worked with so many people, it might be faster just to list the people he hasn't worked with. Born in Southern California, Aron studied classical piano before falling in love with the Beatles and new wave and teaching himself guitar. He co-founded The Balancing Act who signed to I.R.S., put out three excellent albums, toured with 10,000 Maniacs and They Might Be Giants before calling it a day in 1989. After the band broke up, Aron became an in-demand session musician and over the years he's collaborated with Leonard Cohen, The Dream Syndicate, Rickie Lee Jones, Milo Binder, Susanna Hoffs, Brian Wilson, Michael Penn and Peter Himmelman. Speaking of Brian Wilson, yes, that's Wilie in Love & Mercy and he was also a consultant for the Beatles doc Eight Days A Week. Willie also has worked as a film and television composer, a producer of children's music and a composer for commercials and music libraries. Additionally, he helped develop the curriculum and write original songs for a Los Angeles-based children's music space and company called Play Music (play-losangeles.com) and he also earned a a Master's Degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles. As for the bands he plays in currently, the list is long, but let's just start with Moremen/Bonebrake with Matthew Sweet guitarist John Moremen and X drummer DJ Bonebrake, an improvisation outfit called Mushroom, The Vince Melouney Sect featuring original Bee Gees guitarist Vince Melouney, and the all-star musical collective known as The Wild Honey Orchestra that raises money for autism. Back in 2021, both episode 49 and minisode #3 featured the story of 20-month-old Quortney Kley. On February 25, 1997, Quortney was sexually abused and murdered by her mom's boyfriend, Cayce Williams. It took nine years for the legal case to end with Williams accepting a plea agreement in 2006, and he was released in 2021 after spending only 24 years behind bars for the violent sexual assault and murder of a toddler. In this episode, you'll hear my recent conversation with Quortney's mom, Gretta Morgan, who has some disturbing updates for us about Quortney's killer and some shocking revelations about Illinois' sex offender registry.
