We're back and bringing some Connection during Quarantine! Today's episode with Coach Frankie was pulled out of the vault, and we're super excited to share it with you! Frankie is one of NCFIT's most senior coaches and is the brains behind the NCX (previously NC45) programming. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
Today I got the opportunity to sit down with NCFIT Mountain View coach Ryan Blackwell and chat about life. For those of you athletes that know Ryan, you've got to agree with me that he's a super interesting dude. We talk about how Ryan got his start at NCFIT and how he was able to transition into a full time coaching position. More importantly we talk about the impact Ryan has made on the NCFIT community through rapport building and community involvement. Spoiler alert: we also talk about this year's Super Bowl and halftime show. You don't want to miss it!
Today we are sitting down with Adam Saucedo to talk, you guessed it, mindset. Adam first got his start with NCFIT while helping Jason Khalipa prepare for the CrossFit Games. Since then, Adam has transitioned and grown with the NCFIT Family, and now supports our entire coaching staff. Adam approaches the New Year with a different take, and I couldn't be more into it. Instead of focusing on ALL of the things we could change in 2020 and all of the resolutions we could make, Adam chooses to focus on what we did well in 2019 and use 2020 as a time to capitalize on this strength. This subtle reframe paired with other exercises outlined in this episode can help you tackle 2020 like the champion you are! Enjoy the show! To connect with Adam, be sure to follow him on Instagram at @adamsportpsych or on his website: http://www.adamsportpsych.com/
We’ve made it to 2020! And, with resolutions at the forefront of our minds, we figured what better topic to tackle than nutrition? Wish crash diets, fads, and preconceived notions of what ‘healthy’ eating is, it’s easy to get lost in a sea of nutritional confusion. Today I’m sitting down with NCFIT coach, Arielle Bloom, to chat all things nutrition. Arielle brings a fresh perspective to nutrition and provides actionable steps to take control of your meals and make lasting lifestyle changes. We talk about mindset, mindfulness practices, and reframing as a way to make more conscious decisions when it comes to nutrition, and give listeners tangible guidelines to work with. Outside of NCFIT, Arielle offers nutrition coaching and community resources via West Coast Nutrition Coaching. To get involved with this like-minded community, be sure to check out the private Facebook page! Enjoy the show! Connect with Arielle on the gram: @ariesunshiinee
Shaun is no stranger to hard work. Any of you that have worked out with him or beside him on the competition floor can attest to that! Born and raised in Alaska, Shaun grew up working in the oil and gas industry, and is tough as nails. Now a father of two girls, Shaun has learned how to balance and soften this outlook on life with compassion. Today we dive into topics of fatherhood, competition, nutrition, and the mindset Shaun has adopted to accomplish it all. Shaun shares what it has been like getting into the competitive side of fitness and the changes he’s made to attain such success. He absolutely brings the heat in this show, enjoy!
Today’s episode is AWESOME, and I’m so excited to share it with you! NCFIT athlete, Sam Russo, is on the show and she absolutely brings it! Sam shares what it’s like to be a pediatric nurse and the hurdles that go along with that profession. She explains how CrossFit has become a source of self-care for her, and what she does on a daily basis to take care of her mind and body. Additionally, Sam provides a very practical take on nutrition and shares how she has been able to achieve balance in this area of her life. Sit back, relax, and enjoy another episode of the NCFIT Insider Podcast. Cheers!
I had the pleasure of sitting down with NCFIT Campbell’s own, Colleen Fleming, to chat about her last 7 years at NCFIT. Colleen got her CrossFit start at NCFIT’s teen program in 2012 when she was 15 years old, and has progressed through the ranks of athlete, front desk associate, and now, coach. Colleen’s age is shocking to most, given that many people are not as poised, professional, or passionate at 22, and she’s here today ready to squash any stereotype that states otherwise. Colleen is currently pursuing her degree in Psychology at San Jose State, with hopes to combine both mental and physical health into holistic healing. Colleen is absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait for you to hear today’s show! Enjoy!
In fitness there's talking the talk and then there's walking the walk, Anthony does both! Today we sit down with NCFIT LDAC Manger, Anthony Cabrera, to talk all things fitness. Anthony oversees our corporate fitness location in San Francisco, and brings a lifetime of personal experience to the position. Anthony shares what it was like to lose over 100 pounds, how group fitness classes helped with that feat, and the role nutrition plays in his day-to-day. Throw the trendy diet out the window, because today’s show lends actionable steps to reclaiming your fitness and nutrition.
This episode is near and dear to my heart. Although I may be a bit bias given the fact that Viv was one of the first athletes I coached at NCFIT, this episode is absolute fire! Viviana started as one of our gym’s first athletes, and has been with NCFIT for the last 8 years. Viv shares what the last 8 years of training have been like and embodies all that it means to balance life, work, family, and fitness. Viv is real and vulnerable in this episode, sharing exactly what got her into the CrossFit space, what life saving lifestyle changes she’s made because of the knowledge she’s gained in the gym, and how she hopes the NCFIT Community will help shape her toddler’s confidence in the world. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
Today we’re sitting down with NCFIT Coach and Nashville recording artist Ryan Scripps! Being a San Jose native, Ryan’s emergence in the country music scene came as a bit as a surprise, but hasn’t stopped him from absolutely crushing it! Today we talk all about Ryan’s time spent as a contestant on ABC’s hit tv show, The Voice, what it’s like working in the music industry, and how he manages to balance a career in country music and coaching CrossFit. You can find Ryan coaching at our NCFIT Stevens Creek (San Jose) location, so be sure to give his class a go! Enjoy!
Matt Beard is in the house! Many of you may know his beautiful, badass, better half, Coach Emily Beard from NCFIT Mountain View, and it’s only a matter of time until she is on the show, but today we have a man-chat with Matt! Matt splits his time as an NCFIT athlete between the Mountain View and Campbell locations, and is an absolute force in the gym. Today we dive into Matt’s time spent in the military and later his time working with federal investigations units. Since then, Matt has transitioned into working in the commercial construction arena as a Field Engineer. Matt explains what the transition into civilian life was like and what self-care practices he utilizes in this process. If you see him around the gym, be sure to say hey and strike up a conversation about stand-up comedy—you won’t be disappointed!
You may recognize Shereen from the athlete spotlight we did a while back—turns out the spotlight left us with more questions for Shereen and inspired today’s episode. Between absolutely crushing NC60 workouts, Shereen is a new mommy and clinical Psychologist (can someone say, “busy bee?”). In today’s show we discuss the connection between physical fitness and mental health. We also dive into what resources and lifestyle choices Shereen made to accommodate high intensity training throughout her pregnancy. I hope you’re as fired up about this episode as I am and enjoy meeting a member of the NCFIT Community! Cheers!
Coach Rachel has been coaching at the NCFIT Redwood City for the last 2 years. She first got her start with NCFIT through our internship program and has done nothing but enhance the community since her arrival. In today’s episode Lindsey and Rachel talk about Rachel’s launch into fitness, her incredible weight loss journey, and what daily routines/habits she has incorporated to continue the upward momentum. Odds are if you’re an athlete at our Redwood City location you already know Rachel (she’s hard to miss, and will most likely immediately greet you with a high five if she doesn’t know you already), but if you don’t, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself—and, if you’re really feeling it, challenge her to a dance off! Enjoy!
