This week I talked to Rachel and Griffin! They met ten years ago through work, and instantly their relationship moved fast, with them moving in together just a few months later. They quickly learned that though Rachel does want to get married, Griffin wasn't as keen on the idea. Together they agreed to focus on buying a house first and then talk about getting married. Ten years later, they were able to buy a house together, and they got engaged days later! This week I talk to Pix. Pix and Artie met through work and started hanging out as friends, before it turned into casual dating. Even once their relationship had evolved into serious dating, both Pix and Artie wanted to keep a form of independence by living separately for a few years. They moved in together just before the pandemic hit, throwing their relationship for quite a loop! Though they had known each other for a few years in high school, it wasn't until Cienna was in college and Ethan was in his senior year of high school that they decided to start dating. This week I talked to Sarah. Sarah and Coleman have been together for 5 years. Initially, Sarah was dating someone else. She entered into a roommate situation with this boyfriend, a friend, and Coleman. After her boyfriend left her, Sarah turned to Coleman for support, but they no longer lived together. A few months later, she realised she loved him. After dating for a while, they agreed to move in together, finding a slight change in dynamics from when they were college roommates. This week I interview Max and Lorna Holmes on site at the Bolton Clarke aged care facility centre. Max and Lorna take us through their story, which begins when they were 16 years old. They were forced to go long distance when Max joined the Navy. They had a small, simple wedding, with only close family and friends present. This week I interview Casey and Valerie Winters, hosts of the podcast "Hello from Elsewhere". Casey and Valerie met in university, and had a cosy first date consisting of a pillow fort and watching Disney's "The Lion King" during a blizzard. Seven months later, Casey proposed in a park on the mountain, which a handmade journal of his favourite memories of their relationship so far. They chose to have a small wedding in a temple. Their honeymoon mirrored their first date, as they got snowed in after the first day! This week I interview Hanna and Lauric. Though they both currently live in South Africa, they have both moved around a lot throughout their lives, one of the many things they have in common. Having met at university, the two were friends for a while, before they started dating, by which point Hanna was already seeing her forever with Lauric. Lauric faced a moment of self doubt, feeling that Hanna was too good for him, but the couple stayed strong. Lauric decided to make a ring box for Hanna, and proposed to her in a garden shop. Today I interview Hudson and Grace. They met as children through their parents' church. However, though Grace developed a crush on Hudson, Hudson needed more time to see her as a partner and not just his little brother's friend. Once in college, they started dating. Today I interview Disha, who is a part of the Jain culture in India, and who is based in Mumbai. She takes us through how her and her husband met, thanks to their astrological charts and some patience. Today I interview Surila, who takes us through how she met her husband through the help of a matchmaker (known as a shadchan).
