John Sadler's coming up 72 next birthday and can look back on a fascinating  career. He's possibly more content currently than he's ever been, working a team of just thirty horses at the widely lauded Pakenham training centre. Half the team are pre-trainers for good friends, the other half racehorses owned by valued clients old and new. It hasn't been all beer and skittles for the Terang born trainer with recurring bouts of depression and one unfortunate run in with a senior steward during the infamous Aquanita Racing scandal that came to light in 2017. That misdemeanour cost John six weeks on the sidelines. You'll hear his side of the story on the upcoming podcast. John begins by acknowledging the merits of the state of the art Pakenham training precinct. He talks about his team of thirty horses and the pre-training support given him by fellow trainers. The veteran horseman talks of life on the farm at Terang in the 1950's. John talks of Terang's history in both thoroughbred and harness racing. He pays tribute to his remarkable parents Lindsay and Mary. His father died in 1993 at 95 years of age. His mother stayed around for much longer. John remembers friendships formed in schooldays that would introduce him to the racing game. He talks of the modest start he made as a trainer on the small property he'd purchased at Colac. John reflects on his very first win as a trainer and the unforgettable thrill of his maiden metropolitan win. You'll enjoy the trainer's reminiscences about the ageless Pressman's Choice and the betting plunge he landed with the horse in the 1991 Hamilton Cup. Few knew what dire financial straits he was in at the time. John fondly remembers his very first Gr 1 win with Jolly Old Mac. The trainer acknowledges the talents of Kenvain and Lady Jakeo, a star two year old filly of the early 90's. He hasn't forgotten the surprise phone call from jockey Greg Hall which led to an exciting overseas training stint. On returning to Melbourne after his 4 year Dubai experience, John received an unexpected offer from leviathan owner Lloyd Williams. He became private trainer for Williams from Flemington to begin with, and later from the owners' lavish Macedon Lodge training operation. John has one small regret about the Macedon Lodge experience revolving around Melbourne Cup winner Efficient. When his arrangement with Macedon Lodge ran its course, John opted to team up with young trainer Troy Corstens at Flemington under the Malua Racing banner. The four year partnership was both successful and harmonious.  John relates the amazing story of a new Swedish owner and the acquisition of Linton, a horse he knew well from the Macedon Lodge days. A Gr 1 success would follow. He was more than happy to talk about his recurring battles with depression. He was able to bounce back from several low periods. Today, with the right advice and continued treatment he's on top of the problem. John looks back on the infamous Aquanita Racing scandal which resulted in multiple disqualifications. His horses were stabled in the same barn which would later bring him unwanted “fall-out”.  It all came to a head when a senior steward scratched one of John's horses from a Gr 3 race. His subsequent outburst resulted in a six week suspension. He talks of two marriages and seven children, two of whom are heavily involved in racing- Tom as a jockey and trainer, Edward as race caller and TV presenter. We conclude the podcast by pressuring John to nominate a horse or two from his current team likely to visit the winner's circle in the near future. He suggests two mares who are already multiple winners, but far from finished yet. An enjoyable chat with one of Victoria's most respected horsemen. John Sadler tells it as it is.

In this episode of the American Dream Factory Podcast, Nick Smoot sits down with Morgan Linton, co-founder and CTO of Bold Metrics, early Sonos employee, AI builder, and one of the most compelling people experimenting at the edge of artificial intelligence.Morgan's path is not linear, which is exactly what makes it valuable. It will belong to people who can see what the world needs, imagine something better, and use machines to help build it.Today, Morgan and his wife Dana lead Bold Metrics, a machine learning company helping major apparel brands reduce returns, improve fit, and design clothing around real human body data. Bold Metrics can predict dozens of body measurements from simple inputs, then map those insights to garment data so brands can recommend better sizes and make better products.Nick and Morgan talk about why that matters in the AI era. As software becomes easier to build, the real moats become harder things: data, momentum, distribution, taste, and trust. Morgan explains why proprietary data is so powerful, why most people underestimate distribution, and why building something useful still requires judgment, creativity, and real-world understanding.The conversation then moves into the new world of AI-powered software development. Morgan shares how he moved his engineering team into agentic coding workflows and why he believes leaders now have a responsibility to use these tools. They discuss Codex, GPT-5.5, Cursor, Droid from Factory AI, Grok Build, Devin, Graphite, Claude Code, model routing, agentic code review, and the difference between a model and a harness.Morgan explains that a model is not the whole product. The model is the intelligence. The harness is the system that tells it how to behave, use tools, execute tasks, and interact with the user. The same model can perform very differently depending on the harness around it. That means the future is not just better AI models. It is better combinations of models, harnesses, workflows, and human judgment.For people just beginning with AI, Morgan's advice is simple: do not start with a book, a course, or a four-hour tutorial. Start by building. Pick one repetitive thing you do every day and ask an AI coding agent to help you automate it. A spreadsheet process. A report. A tax calculation. A file cleanup task. A simple internal tool. Once you build something useful, you cannot unsee what is happening.The deepest part of the conversation is not technical. It is human.Nick frames AI as the next wave of the internet, and Morgan pushes the idea further. This is not just the next wave of the internet. It is the next wave of humanity.Morgan argues that non-creative work can and will be done by machines at scale. That should not terrify us. It should free us. The computers can do the 996. Humans get to return to the work that makes us human: creativity, love, emotion, imagination, risk, beauty, invention, and solving real problems with people we care about.This episode is part founder story, part AI field guide, and part hopeful argument for the future. In this episode of Tinfoil Tales, Brandon speaks with Jason, who shares two unsettling encounters with what he believes were Dogman-type creatures in Indiana. Jason describes the first sighting in 2018 near Linton, Indiana, when he and several family members noticed glowing yellow eyes watching them from the woods behind a fire pit. What they saw appeared to be a large canine creature standing upright on two legs, estimated to be between seven and eight feet tall. When a gunshot was fired toward it, the creature quickly fled the area. Years later, Jason experienced another encounter while driving to work on a rural road near the Wabash River. This time he saw an even larger creature — possibly nine to ten feet tall — with bright yellow eyes and a muscular upper body. The creature calmly walked away into nearby woods as Jason watched from his truck. Focusing on natural textile dyeing on the southern Japanese island of Amami Ōshima, Linton details the complex relationship between preservation practices, resource extraction, and land access in the production of Oshima tsumugi kimono cloth, which uses the indigenous technique of dorozome (or mud-dyeing). As global interest in sustainable fashion grows, textile manufacturers on Amami have expanded from kimono production to dyeing garments and textiles for high-profile designers. While traditional craft may appear at odds with the large-scale global textile industry, Linton reveals how Amamian and global producers face similar social, economic, and environmental pressures. Ethical production in fashion, Linton contends, should focus on understanding local everyday practices that sustain direct relationships between people, place, and environment rather than rely on short-term solutions via new processes or materials. Weaving together ethnography, photography, and illustration, Linton underscores the continued relevance of traditional craft and material cultures amid ongoing climate change and biodiversity loss. After driving back down from Michigan, a letter was waiting for me in the mailbox: I have been called up for jury duty on a capital murder case. I wrote the court and the judge requesting to be excused but have still not heard back. If I have to serve jury duty, that will affect so many plans. I'm also concerned about being able to attend Ashlyn's graduation. Please pray that the judge will excuse me.Pray also for Liam Carr and his family. They are our newest Mission Sending Service long-term missionaries and are awaiting Taiwan's government to issue them a visa so they can move to Taiwan. The Carrs have also been raising support and are not yet to full levels. Pray for their move this year and their adjustment to living in Yilan County and full-time language study.Please pray for K.B. Church while we are away. Pray that God will work in each of those attending the church to become more mature. Pray that more will become Christians.
