Sabbath Sessions are live, improvised vocal-looping meditations performed by composer/singer Craig Wedren (Shudder To Think, Wet Hot American Summer, The School of Rock, New Amsterdam) in various spots around the globe. This unique, ambient choral music provides a time-out from the bustle of everyday life, allowing the listener to relax and connect with their imagination and dreams. I believe the questions we ask today determine our future, so lately I've been paying closer attention/intention to what I'm asking and what's being asked of me. Here, then, are some atonal tunes to help your atunement leading into the Day of Atonement. Just ask the question. Love, Craig

Today's episode lands square in the midst of strange back-to-school transition. Heat, murder, love, election, health and politics. Of course, Sabbath Sessions has little to do with any of these, at least not directly. But perhaps a time out in the sonic temple can help provide some relief and clarification, should you need, or enhance the colors if you're already feeling switched ON. Touchstones for this episode (in the loosest possible way) are composer Alfred Schnittke and Roland S. Howard, guitarrorista del 'The Birthday Party'. As always, this session was improvised and recorded on the spot, in real time, with love. Thank you.

It's my birthday! Or at least it was the other day, when I put this episode together; but Covid-times being what they are, things move a little more slowly than ‘before', plus it's Summer -you know. So here, then, is a belated birthday gift from me to you, sent with love in hopes that you'll listen and share. What else have we got, after all?

Today's Sabbath Session was recorded during Shiva, the week of mourning following a loved one's death in the Jewish tradition. My father died on May 31, 2020 following a slow physical and mental decline over the last decade or so. Nonetheless he remained an extraordinary, beloved character to the very last, and his absence has hit me and my family hard. I'd been performing daily Sabbath Sessions live online (you can find them archived on YouTube and Facebook) since the beginning of quarantine, and for me this one was a welcome -and much needed- harmonic break in the clouds. I love you, dad. From you, for you, always. https://www.geraldwedrenmemorial.com

Episode 6 is the first in a series of Sabbath Sessions recorded at home during Covid sequestration. Since everything went all funny and strange, I've been doing daily performances online; this is one of my favorites, presented in a clearer, less cluttered context. Hope it helps XO

Episode 5 is Part 1 of a 2 episode celebration of my pal Phil Hay AND the year 2020, who happen to share a birthday. One, Phil, is aging extremely well, with wisdom, grace, and inspiration positively flying off his badself. The other (2020) is a wildcat, all fire and colors and tantrums and drama and beauty and remains-to-be-scene-i-ness that feel both legitimately freaky and awesome. You decide. Lay back and listen. Take care of yourself and others. Love, Craig

Part 3 of a 3-part performance that took place in Idlewild, Ca. where my son's school was having it's annual campout.  A whole lotta parents were sprawled on the grass, staring at the sky or at the back of their eyelids, while our children zoomed through the woods on bicycles.  We were all in dire need of a deep dive -some dreamtime to ourselves, untethered from responsibility and relieved of gadgets/fidgets.  On a splendid Saturday in October, we had the chance to unwind and briefly ride the mind's wild waters.  Hopefully you can do the same.
