We are all social distancing, sheltered in, and self-quarantining.  Time for a new podcast episode!  Griffin tells the story of his grandfather, WWII Veteran George Foster Griffin, who inspired the song "I Remember."  Some background on the character who inspired this song, and how the song came about.  A respectful memorial for those who have bravely served our country and some bigger questions about war and America's role in the future as a leader on the world stage.

Because of the content of the song, Griffin is forced to talk about a topic he was trying to avoid, religion. We'll get the inside scoop what was going on in Griffin's mind when he went away to college, and how that shaped his views of spirituality and affected his life and his songwriting.

Griffin nerds out on songwriting, tells a crazy story about touring with John Mellencamp and embarrassing himself accidentally one summer at a youth group camp.

Griffin addresses the meaning of "Liberty Line," and talks about why is ok and maybe even necessary to stay "uncool."

Griffin talks about early adventures opening for bands such as Over the Rhine and Patti Scialfa.  Meeting Bruce Springsteen, and his national television debut on CBS Sunday Morning.

Griffin moves to Nashville in 2003.  Has a meeting with destiny in an Episcopalian Church Service, finds recording partners Justin and Ian, and records his first song in Nashville, "Waste Another Day."  Gets a call from Island/Def Jam Records in New York City, and goes to Los Angeles for the first time to play for Dreamworks Records.  Some unlucky events lead to unexpected doors opening.

Griffin responds to a letter from a fan, addresses some questions and concerns about his personal faith and spiritual journey and then segues into his move to Nashville in 2003, where he got his start in music and met some cohorts who would be pivotal in getting his career off the ground.

Griffin tells the story behind track 2 of Lost and Found, and talks about why you have to be careful not only what you wish for, but what you write about.
