Interview by Kris Peters. It seems inconceivable that a major international band could be on the world touring circuit for over three decades and never played a note in anger in Australia.Almost criminal in fact, but when that band is Powerman 5000 it doesn't take long to move on and forget the thirty year snub and merely rejoice in the fact that they are finally coming.Very soon in fact.Powerman 5000 land in this country in around two weeks time, starting the nationwide trek in Brisbane at The Zoo on January 12.Not only will the pioneering industrial/nu-metal heavyweights be armed with a plethora of awesome hits up their collective sleeves, they are also celebrating the recent 21st anniversary of their breakthrough debut album Tonight The Stars Revolt!, spearheaded by the song that changed the landscape of metal as we know it, When Worlds Collide.HEAVY sat down for an enlightening chat with frontman Spider One, starting by emphasising the point that Australian fans have been neglected by the band for far too long."It is kind of amazing," he smiled. "We've been touring since 1996 or 97 and for some reason we've either eluded Australia or Australia's eluded us, but we are finally getting there, which is kinda cool. I mean, it's not that common after being in a band for thirty years or so that you can say you're gonna do something for the first time. We've toured the States so much, and I can pretty much tell you exactly what a night in Dallas, Texas is gonna be like. Or a night in Los Angeles is gonna be like. But I don't know what a night in Sydney's gonna be like, I have no idea. So it's gonna be exciting."In the full interview, Spider talks us through the 21st Anniversary of Tonight The Stars Revolt!, why he thinks that album resonated like it did in the metal community, their role in bridging the gap between industrial metal and nu-metal, the early days of Powerman 5000 and how they shaped their sound, lessons learnt from his older brother Rob Zombie that helped Powerman 5000 in their formative years, blending his love of sci-fi and horror into their music, appearing on Beverley Hills 90210, coming back from being dropped by Dreamworks Records in 1996, revitalising the band, his side gig directing films, what we can expect from Powerman 5000 on tour and more.

On Episode 39, Dr. Stephanie talks to Monica Wisdom about how she embraces the "woo woo" as a professed Christian. As we highlight the importance of mental health, we are reminded that faith and spirituality are key when it comes to supporting our mental health. But, sometimes Christians are hesitant to embrace things that seem too spiritual. Let's talk about that. Let's talk about how we can be open to all things that support our well being and expansion without guilt. We will even get into a discussion of the divine feminine. So, on this episode are talking all about how "Christians Can Embrace the Woo Woo too! - Thoughts on Spirituality.”   Monica's adventurous spirit has taken her in many directions, including cosmetology, writing, and the music industry. After graduating cosmetology school with honors, she ascended to and studied with innovators such as Vivienne Mackinder, Geri Cosenza, Irvine Rusk, and many more! Monica has worked with celebrities and companies including The Isley Brothers, Loretta Divine, Atlantic Records, DreamWorks Records, and the list goes on. She's also been featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX networks. In the midst of it all, Monica was called to go on a spiritual sojourn and she knew it was time to excavate and heal her traumatic childhood and generational wounds. You will learn SO much from her and we will dig deep into the conversation on spirituality. Other highlights of Monica's transcendent career, includes her time as Director of Operations for ‘In Magazine' and ‘Today in Church Magazine'. She and magazine publisher David Holmon worked to create the monthly publications that inspired its readers and reached critical acclaim. In that role, Monica interviewed celebrities about their spiritual life and personal journeys. She interviewed such notables as Kirk Whalum, Princess Zulu, Eric Roberson, Vonnetta Flowers, Evander Holyfield and Isaac Bruce to name a few. Her features stood strong next to other contributors that included Joyce Meyers, TD Jakes, and Joel Olsten. Monica's most rewarding work was with the global music label Yoruba Records, working alongside Osunlade building a global brand and movement. In the midst of it all, Monica was called to go on a spiritual sojourn and she knew it was time to excavate and heal her traumatic childhood and generational wounds. Sharing her shadows was the next step to enable her to be all that she was born to be. Through the coaching program of Phoenix 2000, Monica learned that her pain could be used to heal others which led her into a deep spiritual examination and study of the Divine Feminine with her teachers Dr. Caroline ‘Isis' Fuqua and Bettie Spruill. She is also a student of Transcendental Meditation and is a student of Yogini Nithyananda. In this episode, I'll be discussing the album "Bleed American" by the band Jimmy Eat World. I do a deep dive on the history surrounding the album. Bleed American is the fourth studio album by American rock band Jimmy Eat World, released on July 24, 2001, by DreamWorks Records. Originally released as Bleed American, it was re-released as Jimmy Eat World following the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., which took place seven weeks after its initial release. The Jimmy Eat World title stayed until 2008 upon its re-release with its original title returned. Following a lack of recognition for their third studio album Clarity (1999) from Capitol Records, the band departed from the label in late 1999. Aside from working odd jobs, the band toured to raise money for their next album. It was recorded with Mark Trombino and the band as producers in Los Angeles in October and November 2000 at the Cherokee and Harddrive studios. The musical style was more direct and accessible than its predecessor, with simpler chord structures. "Bleed American" was released to radio on June 5, 2001 as the album's lead single, coinciding with tours of Australia and Japan (the latter supporting Eastern Youth). After appearing on the East Coast dates of the Warped Tour, the band supported Blink-182 and Weezer. "The Middle" was released as a single on November 19, 2001. The band went on a headlining European tour in early 2002, followed by a Japanese tour, leading up to a two-month support slot for Blink-182 and Green Day on their Pop Disaster Tour. "Sweetness" was released as the third single on June 3, 2002. The band supported Incubus in Australia, before embarking on headlining tours of the UK and the US. "A Praise Chorus" was released as a promotional single during 2002. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com
