Award-winning actress, history-making supermodel, staunch philanthropist, conscientious activist, author, and loving mom Patricia Velásquez applies an eternal creative spirit to everything she does-whether it be starring in blockbusters a la The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayúu Tayá Foundation and participating on the UNESCO Board. Regardless, she makes major strides by drawing on instinct and deliberately paving her own path. Patricia's success represented a turning point in fashion as she drew industry attention to South America for the first time. She experienced a big break upon becoming "the first model Karl Lagerfeld ever photographed" and going on to walk in shows, star in editorial spreads, and front ads for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Chloe, Cover Girl, and Victoria's Secret, to name a few. Resonating around the globe, she appeared in Oprah and Ford Models' "Supermodel of the World" contest as well. Not to mention, she graced the covers of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, and many others. She artfully channeled her dance training during shoots. Simultaneously, she ignited an impressive acting career. Not only did she star in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, but she also appeared on The L Word, Arrested Development, CSI: Miami, Ugly Betty, List of a Lifetime, Hawaii 5-0 and Rescue Me. Throughout her career, she capitalized on every opportunity to give back. In 2002, she founded the Wayúu Tayá Foundation. This non-profit preserves the culture of indigenous groups throughout Latin America by way of support and the drastic improvement of living conditions. UNESCO invited her to be a celebrity advocate, and the United Nations granted her the 2009 Women Together Award. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod. (Please Subscribe)
My new mix for May 2025 is titled "Evolution to Rescue." While this name may seem random at first, it has a thoughtful origin. I spent a few days listening to the beautiful track "Evolution" by the Cinematic Orchestra, featuring the soulful singer Fontella Bass, who is known for her hit "Rescue Me." This connection inspired the mix's name. As you can see, it may be a bit random, but it carries significant meaning. We are living in times of change, and evolution can take various paths. I hope that this evolution leads to the rescue of all living beings, including humans and what we are good at—our creativity! The latest selection explores various genres and musical moods. Hope you enjoy listening! Today, we're talking about grief and loss, which isn't just about death. Losing anything significant, like a wallet or a pet, can be just as painful. After my mother passed away in April 2023, I felt immense loneliness and struggled to move forward. Over time, I realized the importance of expressing my feelings and not letting grief consume me. Grief and loss can stem from any major change or disappointment, including breakups or job loss. Everyone grieves differently, and it's crucial to set boundaries and allow yourself time to heal. We live in a society that values immediate gratification, which can make dealing with grief even harder. It's important to give yourself time to heal. How do you cope with grief and loss? Since 2015, I've had my fair share of amazing and also detrimental experiences with dating apps, and I've learned some invaluable lessons about myself and the dark side of dating apps. From a close friend's costly encounter with an escort to my own downward spiral of self-esteem and self love to extreme financial losses, the hidden dangers of online dating need to be talked about. Online dating is an extreme journey through the abyss of human connection. Dating apps can and are a double-edged sword. They offer convenience and connection but also pose risks of deception and emotional turmoil. My journey is a testament to the need for vigilance, realistic expectations, and self-care in digital dating. True connections go beyond screens and profiles. Stay smart, stay safe, and take care of your mental health. As always, remember that you're not alone in your journey. Our community is here to provide support every step of the way. Today, I find myself reflecting on the challenges our kids face—drug addiction, mental health issues, social media and peer pressure, and the solutions to these often start within the family.I'm dismayed by the role of family involvement and the lack of schools teaching life skills. It's heartbreaking to think about the struggles kids endure, from learning disabilities to hunger and homelessness as well as emotional and physical abuse. The generational nature of problems like depression and addiction makes breaking these cycles the main priority to help all of these children. I believe mental health issues should be addressed openly in schools, with programs for both the students and parents led by qualified professionals. Parents suffer through depression and anxiety and their work often plays a factor in their inability to help their children when needed. Many children do not have the proper nutrition and access to food at home, and schools need to do a better job of providing to those in need. If a family member turns to medication to soothe their own emotional issues, they are the mirror for the child, and that is not acceptable.I'm convinced we need better family support, comprehensive mental health education, and qualified help to truly make a difference. If you have thoughts or questions, feel free to text or call. Let's come together and give you the support to help yourself and your kids to make a change. As always, remember that you're not alone in your journey. Our community is here to provide support every step of the way. His debut memoir Too Funny for Words reflects his long and diverse career.
Transitioning from his previous platform to his current solo venture felt like an impossible navigation. There were underlying issues bubbling up and tensions simmering beneath the surface. Despite his aim to handle the situation with maturity, the reality is that it took a toll on his mental health.During our conversation, Preston opened up about moments where the weight of it all nearly crushed him, physically. This is not an exaggeration. Our producer, Mark, witnessed firsthand how close Preston came to reaching his breaking point. It served as a wake-up call, reminding us that clinging to stress and strain can lead straight to the hospital.Recognizing the danger, Preston made a conscious decision to let go. It wasn't easy, especially for someone who has always been a giver like Preston. However, he came to the realization that holding onto things that didn't serve him put his well-being at risk. And that's a compromise he's no longer willing to make. As always, remember that you're not alone in your journey. Our community is here to provide support every step of the way. He's also done other immersive mixes for artists such as Tommy Lee, Papa Roach and Bad Wolves to name a few. As a result, Nick has worked on records that have charted in the top 10 on iTunes and even more recently was considered for Grammy nomination. During the interview we spoke about his biggest learning moment with the great Michael Brauer, his favorite plugins, how he got into immersive mixing, creating memorable moments in a mix, and much more. I spoke with Nick from his studio in Brooklyn.
