Yoga is meant to open our hearts and reveal our true nature as spiritual beings. For thousands of years, the Bhakti texts have preserved this essential wisdom of yoga. These teachings have guided yogis past and present through the inner journey of enlightenment. By reading the pages of the Bhakti texts known as the “Srimad Bhagavatam”, we are placed in the midst of powerful sages, mysterious avatars, and the human search for truth. Inspiring, relevant, transformational, and even entertaining, these profound texts awaken our inner knowledge and dissolve all that is troublesome to the heart. Stream of Bhakti is a yoga philosophy podcast hosted by Ani and Nitai. Together they explore the modern yogi’s spiritual journey in the contemporary world through the sacred lens of Srimad Bhagavatam.
Nitai discusses with guest Bhaktimarga Swami about the great warrior/sage Bhishma. Bhishma always fought for a higher cause than himself, never seeking his own glory. Even though he was the most powerful warrior of his time, he was slain on the battlefield. Still, he spent his last breath speaking of dharma and spiritual perfection. The integrity of his spiritual life remained intact until his last moment. He is a hero in the Bhakti tradition to this day.
