In this high-energy episode of Pursue Your Passion, host Tyler Kamerman sits down with leadership coach, consultant, and creator of the "Iowa Kind" initiative, Allie Jones. Together, they unpack a cultural and professional trap that so many of us fall into: choosing the comfort of being surface-level "nice" over the radical commitment to being truly kind. Allie shares how her journey back to the Midwest exposed a deficit - the gap between the storied "Iowa Nice," and possibility of "Iowa Kind." If you've been walking on eggshells to please people instead of stepping into the courageous honesty needed to move your business or community forward, this conversation will completely reinvent how you view communication. The real "aha" moment hits when Allie drops a truth bomb about finding clarity in your career and life goals. In a world screaming with social media notifications, endless business books, and self-proclaimed expert blueprints, we have lost the ability to get quiet enough to listen to our own instincts. Allie and Tyler challenge listeners to break free from the traditional "stay small and quiet" mindset, embrace the messy friction of real hospitality, and start tuning into their internal intuition. If you are ready to stop looking for shortcuts to contentment and finally take your next right step with bold clarity, grab your headphones and press play! Key Takeaways Niceness is a Shortcut, Kindness is the Goal: "Nice" is a surface-level tool used to avoid discomfort and ensure immediate agreeableness. "Kindness" is the courageous, authentic work that prioritizes long-term connection and real progress over temporary comfort. Ditch the Gurus for Your Own Intuition: Stop looking for a five-step blueprint from outside influencers. Allie's ultimate advice for a mental breakthrough is to go on a 30-minute walk with absolutely zero audio inputs. Embrace the Friction of Real Connection: True community isn't born on social media feeds. It requires stepping out of your comfort zone, inviting people into an uncleaned house, and engaging with those who don't think, look, or act exactly like you. In this deeply personal episode, Harmony Slater speaks with Bianca Oliviera — a Brazilian-born Ashtanga teacher now living in Katowice, Poland — about the sudden passing of Sharath Jois, the grief that followed, and how she continues to carry the teachings forward. Send Us Your Questions & Feedback! Most people think window treatments are “just a rod and some fabric” until they watch a real pro work. We're joined by Mark Koperweis, better known as the Drapery Guru, to unpack what elite drapery installation actually looks like and why the smallest details decide whether you earn referrals or refunds.Mark walks us through his path from learning fabrics and saying yes to early jobs, to becoming the installer other designers and workrooms trust when perfection matters. We talk about the hidden value of showing up on time, protecting the home, keeping a clean site, and making every measurement and bracket feel intentional. If you're in a trade business, home services, or any client-facing work, the principles translate: standards create trust, and trust creates pricing power. We also get technical on Lutron shades, motorized roller shades, and Lutron drapery tracks. Mark explains why luxury shading projects are rarely simple, how recessed pockets and corner conditions force real engineering decisions, and how shading ties into lighting control and home automation systems. A big theme is partnerships: electricians and AV companies often win the early scope, then Mark steps in for custom draperies, Roman shades, and the fabric work they don't want to touch.Along the way we hit real-world business lessons, from billing product up front for healthier cash flow to preventing fabric disasters like gravity wrinkles, plus why steaming is quality control, not a cosmetic extra. If you want more honest conversations about business reinvention, craftsmanship, and building something that lasts, subscribe, share this with a friend in the trades, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway.
The conversation shifts from hobby scams to hobby opinions as the panel explores social media criticism, collecting philosophies, and the people who always seem to have the "right" way to collect. How much attention should collectors pay to critics, hobby gurus, and self-appointed experts? Is there really a correct way to collect, or is the hobby at its best when everyone follows their own path? The discussion also ventures into Mount Rushmore territory as the panel debates all-time greats, hobby legends, and the difference between athletic greatness and hobby significance. The 5D Academy with Zarathustra explores universal wisdom to foster total freedom from suffering in all areas of your life; health, wealth, love, and self. Each Academy podcast contains valuable insights and takeaways to become the best version of yourself and create an authentic, fulfilling life. Zarathustra transmits 5th Dimensional Quantum frequencies in each episode with transformational tools while discussing different topics to help you maintain this new frequency in your daily life. Zarathustra has created a practical system of transmitting the truth to his audience allowing transformation and freedom from suffering. Spiritual development requires an open heart. It is virtually impossible for a seeker to advance to higher consciousness if they don't love themselves. The belief system which has been ingrained in our cellular memory from childhood that we are not good enough results in a conditioned mind. The conditioned mind holds the false belief that there is something missing in our lives, that we are incomplete, that we need to gain something in order to become happy and whole, which is not true. After a life time of searching, Zarathustra has blended a practical system of Eastern and Western methods and techniques to help the Academy members to free themselves from anxiety, negative thoughts, lack of self-love and self-acceptance and destructive emotional patterns through a systematic way to raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency, which enables you to live a vibrant life of freedom and happiness. The Key Elements To Freedom: Zarathustra recognizes continuity and consistency are the key elements to freedom. In order to help you achieve your spiritual goals, it's best to have a highly effective spiritual practice, free of dogmas, false beliefs and superstition that helps you raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency as well as the ability to maintain this newly found higher level of consciousness. This translates to a life filled with inner peace, self-love and happiness which is the goal of every spiritual seeker. New knowledge and benefits are gained with each replay. I didn't set out to become a spiritual teacher. I was the kid with questions that wouldn't let go — why are we here, what happens when we die, is this really all there is? At eleven, I had my first spiritual awakening, which introduced me to what I call my Inner Teacher, a wise guiding presence that's been with me ever since. Those early experiences set me on a long journey across traditions and continents, including several years on a mountaintop in India with a 120-year-old enlightened master. He used laughter, provocation, and paradox to dismantle every spiritual assumption I had — and showed me that real spirituality isn't about rising above life, but stepping fully into it.What came out of all that is how I teach now: Eastern depth, Western practicality. Spirituality that holds up just as well on a Tuesday afternoon as it does on a meditation cushion.I'm not interested in quick fixes or spiritual highs. Over decades of teaching, I keep coming back to this: you already have an Inner Knowing, an intuitive wisdom that's been there all along. Most of us have just been talked out of trusting it. My work is about helping you clear what's in the way — the limiting beliefs, the mental clutter — so you can remember who you are at the deepest level.
A new episode of the “From the Fabricator” podcast is now up! This time out was a very cool mix with the guests, and it had tons of helpful notes. I lead off with Tom Culp, consultant extraordinaire and one of the key cogs of the NGA Technical Super Hero team (led by the incredible Urmilla Sowell, and featuring a crew of folks who care deeply for the good of our industry: Thom Zaremba, Nick Resatar, Karen Wegert, Georgia Oehler, and Amber Johnson). Tom covered a ton of the technical ground and also broke some great code news for our industry. In addition, Tom covered what's next and how we as an industry- with great volunteers too- are working through it. Next up was the fabulous Jamie Kernohan of Glass Guru. Jamie is a pros pro when it comes to the marketing game and has done a great job in our industry and now is making a difference within the walls of a pretty massive organization at Glass Guru. Jamie shared some great angles she has in play now, what's happening in her world, and the importance of not being in a “square on the screen.” Loved it. Both guests brought it, and I'm excited to share! Thanks for checking it out! Thank you to FHC- Frameless Hardware Company for the continued backing of the podcast! Much appreciated! When it comes to the glass and glazing industry, FHC isn't answering to shareholders. They're answering to glaziers. Fabricators. The people doing the work every day.Founded as a return to what a true vendor partnership should be, FHC is built on accountability, extreme customer service, quality products, and agile customization. But what really sets them apart is their focus on the people factor.Real people. Real relationships. Real support when it matters most. From quick answers and meaningful conversations to helping customers solve problems and win more projects, FHC believes business is still personal.Their mission is simple: help grow the glazing industry—not exploit it.Because when their customers succeed, the entire industry gets stronger.FHC. This teaching was given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche at Lama Tsonkhapa Institute in Italy as part of the Ganden Lha Gyama retreat between September 3-30, 2004.00:00:01 To receive the jenang (permission to practice) of a deity from the four-class Tantra, one needs to first receive the initiation of that class of Tantra.00:06:31 Even though one has received a precious human body, it can be stained by desire, carelessness, laziness, sleep, gossiping, and seeking offerings and respect. This leads to wasting the precious human body on meaningless activities.00:10:34 To take the essence of the perfect human body, one must train well in the gradual path of the lower, middle, and higher capable beings.00:11:51 All sentient beings have been one's mother countless times in past lives, but due to taking rebirth, they are unable to recognize each other. Generating love and compassion for them, one should strive to achieve enlightenment for their benefit.Find out more about Lama Zopa Rinpoche, his teachings and projects at https://fpmt.org/

In the first installment of a new solo series, Jay Doran steps away from interviews and into something far more vulnerable: an unfiltered exploration of the thoughts occupying his mind when no one else is in the room. What begins as a reflection on the internal battle between good and evil quickly evolves into a philosophical journey through leadership, capitalism, influence, identity, social media, homelessness, mentorship, success, and truth itself. Along the way, Jay wrestles with a question that many consume content but few stop to ask:What is the difference between the person asking for money on the street and the person asking for your attention online? This episode is not a polished lecture. It is a live thought experiment.Jay explores:Why we idolize certain voices while ignoring othersThe hidden incentives that shape what we say and what we don'tHow success can distance us from truthThe relationship between power, responsibility, and accountabilityWhy compassion may be the foundation of moralityThe danger of worshiping people at the top while dismissing those at the bottomHow leadership eventually shows up on the balance sheetThe tension between ego and humilityWhy mentorship, learning, and personal growth never truly endWhat it means to pursue truth when the outcomes are uncertainAt its core, this episode is a challenge to examine how we relate to people, ideas, influence, and ourselves. It is an invitation to question assumptions, confront contradictions, and consider whether the way we treat those with the least may reveal more about us than the way we admire those with the most. Raw, philosophical, provocative, and deeply personal, this conversation marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Culture Matters Podcast—one where Jay opens the door to the questions he is actively wrestling with in real time.Because sometimes the most important conversations don't start with answers. They start with a question.

You've probably heard it a hundred times. Use debt to grow faster, leverage other people's money, play the game like the pros. But deep down, there's that uneasy feeling that something about it just doesn't sit right, especially when the pressure starts building and the payments don't stop. In this episode, Omar challenges everything you've been told about “smart debt” and why so many entrepreneurs buy into it without seeing the downside. He shares his own experience with it and breaks down how this way of thinking can quietly limit your options and keep you stuck in survival mode.
