Super Women is a documentary series from two modern creatives making kickass films about kickass women. This is the extended podcast channel featuring the full interviews in podcast form. In this episode we explore the world of tech interviewing Amali De Alwis MBE FRSA, former CEO of Code First Girls and now head of startups at Microsoft. Code First Girls has taught more women to code than the British University system and they are on track to smash their target of teaching 20,000 women to code for free by the end of 2020. The Super Women platform was launched in 2019 and co-founded by BBC broadcaster Georgie Rogers and documentary film director Alice Smith. The duo joined forces with a crew of aspiring female filmmakers to create real opportunities for women in the industry and address gender imbalance behind the camera. From Elspeth Beard, the first British woman to motorcycle around the world in the 1980s (at the age of 23), to an award-winning record producer Catherine Marks and jewellery designer and independent business owner Tessa Metcalfe the films and podcasts in Series One highlight what it took for women to blaze the trail across business, music, motorsports, politics, tech and culture to realise their dreams in the most extraordinary ways. Super Women is a short-form documentary platform highlighting what it took for women to blaze the trail across music, motorsports, business, politics, tech and culture to realise their dreams in the most extraordinary ways. Created by broadcaster Georgie Rogers and director Alice Smith the company is dedicated to furthering opportunities for women in film. This is the extended podcast channel featuring the full interviews. Our third instalment features female motorbike crew VC London. They’ve practically taught hundreds of women to ride motorbikes, getting so many more girls into the scene, running adventure camps for women in Wales via Camp VC, workshops, lessons and are all about encouraging women to try new things through their VC team talks and events. Started in a back street workshop in East London in 2015 by three friends - Gemma Harrison, Maite Storni & Namin Cho, who were struggling to find other women to ride with, VC London was born from a DIY grassroots approach to helping other women to start riding with a shout out on a small Instagram account. Since then VC London has grown into a global community. In this episode Georgie visited the VC London headquarters in Limehouse to meet them.
