Hey you! Welcome to Takeout! Our episodes will center around topics that we believe aren't discussed enough in the Asian/Pacific Islander (API) community. We want to provide FOOD for thought (haha) for those within and outside of the API community and encourage discussions outside of our podcast. Thanks for listening. Hey everyone, welcome back to Takeout. It's been a while and I'm glad you're still here. I wanted to record an episode where I share my thoughts and reactions to the recent attacks against Asian Americans both for myself to remember and reflect on and for anyone who wants to hear. Hopefully you resonate with some of the things I say and let's work together to do better. My prayers go out to all of the victims and families that have suffered as a result of this wave of attacks and I'll continue to use my platform (as small as it may be) to speak out.Give your loved ones a hug for me during these troubling times.Sincerely,Stephen

In our third episode on the Model Minority Myth, we talk about how the Model Minority title harms our relationships with and perception of other minorities. Our friends Pelumi Ogundipe and Jordan Williams join us in this episode to talk about their views on the recent events centered around the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement. We had so much to discuss from police brutality to how social media has taken a front seat in driving this movement, which is why you'll see part 2 as a different episode. Recent events have really woken us up to something we should have been paying attention to long ago: anti-Blackness within the Asian community. Our reflections have led us to bring these conversations home to our friends and family and also to seek out Black writers and public figures to look up to.
