This week's #thatpedalthing brought to you by El Diablo Amps! Here's what Alan from El Diablo has to say about the Land Devices HP-2 - if I'm honest, I think the biggest allure is that it doesn't *sound like other fuzzes/distortions. It's unique frequency profile perks up my ears, and makes me pay attention. - I do love creamy smooth sustain, BUT creamy smooth sustain has been the go-to Sound for a lot of cheeseball guitarists over the years. It makes me think of “Smooth” era Carlos Santana rather than “Abraxas”. I much prefer the Velcro sputter, the gated rip of the HP-5! - Some drives sound the same no matter what you do to your volume/tone. I'm especially appreciative of pedals that respond to your picking dynamics and your Vol control. The HP-2 is exquisite in that regard. So many textures/sounds on tap! - it plays well with others. (An aside: I just recently tried out a Solo Dallas, I think it was the Storm. Great pedal on its own. Sadly, it's VERY picky about other drives down the line). - It looks bad-ass! =) head over to eldiabloamps.com to check out all of his fantastic pedal selection!
