What is it in our restless hearts that cannot graciously receive a gift? A friend invites us to a grand, delightful meal, and even before dessert is served, we're busy evening the score. We fail to taste the kindly moment because we're painfully obsessed with making certain our account with one we call a friend is “balanced”—even though it is a dinner spread and not a spreadsheet gleaming in the candlelight. And so we say to God when He so kindly offers us eternity through what His Son has sacrificed: “That's truly nice—and in exchange I'll do 10,000 good, obedient things that makes it seem I'm less in Your debt, and somehow more deserving.” Grace wounds our pride by disallowing all our offers of equivalence. There is no service we can offer God that even starts to mitigate His gift. Our prayers, our gifts, our sweat, our pain do not begin to make us anything but debtors to the kindness we've been given. “In this is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10). Grace teaches us the habit of receiving what we never can repay—of reveling in it, and telling strangers just how blessed we are. A heartfelt “thank you” is the best response when offered joy, and peace, and freedom. Then stay in grace. -Bill Knott

Author, international speaker, and managing director of The Starting Point Project, Jay holds degrees in both Physics and Engineering Technology and has been lecturing on the authority of Scripture for the last 40 years. https://www.thestartingpointproject.com/   He explains what it means to defend the Christian worldview, the significance of addressing the existential questions, and how the Bible ought to be our key source for these conversations. Jay also shares what our motive should be when engaging in discussions with those who hold other worldviews.  Interested in hearing more from Jay about similar topics discussed in today's episode? What other relevant verses come to mind when thinking about how to discuss worldviews?

As Samuel grows old, the elders of Israel rightly recognize the corruption of Samuel's sons, who are unfit to be judges in Samuel's place. However, the elders of Israel wrongly ask that Samuel set up a king over them so that they would be like the other nations. The LORD says that this request is a rejection of His reign, but He still tells Samuel to give Israel what they want. Even as Samuel warns them that a king like all the other nations will not be all that they think, the people persist in their sinful desire. Graciously, the LORD uses this request to ultimately bring us the King that we need, our Savior Jesus.  Rev. Kurt Ulmer, pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Wylie, TX, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Samuel 8:1-22.  "A Kingdom Unlike All the Nations” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Samuel. This time in Israel's history has its highs and lows, but the LORD's faithfulness never wavers. He provides His Word to be proclaimed faithfully through prophets like Samuel and Nathan. Even as princes like Saul and David sit on an earthly throne, the LORD remains King over His people, even as He does now and forever through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

Hope with God... with Andrew and Wendy Palau

How does the God of the universe communicate with humans? Graciously, God spoke to us in human language we can understand. He gave us the Bible—not just a book of history and stories written by humans, but divinely inspired by God. Here's what the apostle Paul said about his own participation in delivering messages from God… Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ. Don't miss out on God's message to humanity! No matter what you've heard about the Bible, I encourage you, read it for yourself. Start with the book of John. You have nothing to lose, everything to gain. Remember, there is always hope with God. Born of a chat Michael and I were having, he said, "while it's good to know the difference between 24mm and 70mm lenses and have a rich friend who is also a movie star, it doesn't matter if you can't define and explore your vision."  Your vision is the center of everything, and without it, you have no project. What is your vision, and how does that vision make the journey from your heart to the screen? What are you trying to say? How do you communicate that? This class is about figuring out how master filmmakers have answered these questions and put their vision on the screen... and, most importantly, how you can do this as well. We will discuss and study several great films and filmmakers - with a particular emphasis on distilling the filmmaker's vision and intent and how they brought that to life. See you all there. 3.) Speak Life and Reflect Light. Jesus came to give life when we were dead in sin and headed to eternal death. Jesus always shines light in darkness; in fact, He IS light! Show life and light by being encouraged (get out of the news and into the Word!) and by being encouraging! Be a true “Joy to the World” with your face and your words! *When: In the hustle and bustle of: Christmas shopping, errand running, decorating, Baking, wrapping, prepping In getting together with family, friends, church family. Pray for wisdom to speak life and reflect life when you feel that family or friends misunderstand you or reject you. (Jesus knows all about that; He has never rejected you; He loves and accepts you. AND He still is life and light to those who misunderstand Him and reject Him. We can follow His example.) Especially be aware of speaking life and reflecting light to those who desperately need Him. (This is so hard to remember in the hustle and bustle.)   4) Celebrate with Grace.  Celebrate—to acknowledge a happy day or event with a social gathering or enjoyable activity; to praise or honor someone. Grace—courteous goodwill; a free and loving gift of unmerited favor. By its definition, celebration SHOULD take place with GRACE. If it doesn't, maybe it's because we're not truly celebrating. Jesus came to love and to die for undeserving sinners—you and me. We can and should celebrate with grace, no matter how “undeserving” those around us are. Speak Gently. (Graciously, Prov. 11:16) Serve Gracefully. (Mary and Martha, Luke 10:38-42) Celebrate Gregariously. Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: 7 Biblical Principles for Resolving Conflict at WorkDevotional: 6 of 7Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:5-6)Today's passage points us to the 6th biblical principle for resolving conflict at work…Principle #6: Address the Conflict with Grace that flows out of the grace you've been shown by Christ. As we saw a few weeks ago, sometimes we're called to overlook an offense. But when we sense God prompting us to address it, we must do so graciously. This includes grace in our motives, methods, and medium of communication.First, motives. Our motive in addressing conflict is primarily to bless rather than blame, help rather than hurt, and serve rather than shame.Second, methods. Sometimes Jesus addressed sin via methods that were sharp, direct, and public, like the time he overturned tables in the temple. Other times, he opted for methods that were gentle, indirect, and private, like the conversation he had with the Samaritan woman at the well. Similarly, Scripture calls us to adjust our methods based on what will bless and restore the person we're in conflict with (see Titus 1:13 and 1 Timothy 5:1).Finally, medium. When Paul “had no peace of mind” because of an unresolved conflict, he didn't send a letter, but went to resolve the issue in-person (2 Corinthians 2:12-13). Similarly, John said he “would rather not use paper and ink” to share certain things (see 2 John 1:12).Our motives, methods, and medium of communication all play a part in addressing conflict graciously. Now, let's put those insights into practice. Throughout this series, I've been encouraging you to journal through how you will address conflict with a specific person at work. Pull open that note right now and work through these 5 steps.#1: Review the plank in your eye you journaled a couple of weeks ago. And remember the grace and mercy Christ has shown you so that you can extend grace and mercy to the person you're in conflict with.#2: Write down the method of communication this situation calls for. Sharp or gentle? Direct or indirect? Private or public? Read Matthew 18:15-17 and pray for wisdom.#3: Write down the medium you will use to address the conflict. Spoiler alert: I doubt God's calling you to address it via email. In person is ideal. But if you work remotely, Zoom is a great alternative.#4: Write down what you want to say (and don't want to say) as clearly as you can. Sometimes writing down what I don't plan to say is what best allows me to communicate with grace.  #5: Write down when you will address the other person. The sooner the better for God's glory, their good, and your peace!

How do we know God's will for our lives? Thessalonians and Houstonians wonder. Twice in his first letter to the Thessalonians, Paul declares God's will. In a word, God wills for us to be full. Filled with the Spirit, our lives overflow with joy, prayer, and gratitude. This is the will of God for all of us: that we are always praying! Message based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.Quotes:Thomas Merton: To be an acorn is to have a taste for becoming an Oak Tree Duane Brooks: God wills for us to pray, and when we pray we find and fulfill his will. Joyful, prayerful, thankful . . .  People who are full of God in the fullness of the Spirit, seeking that his full will be done rejoice, pray, and give thanks. Duane Brooks: We do not just pray spontaneously, sporadically, but continually in conversation with the Father.Fred Craddock:  all we know in the life of prayer is asking, seeking, knocking and waiting, trust sometimes fainting, sometimes growing angry.  Persons of such prayer life can only wonder at those who speak of prayer with the smiling facility of someone drawing answers from a hat.Duane Brooks: Until you have stood for years knocking at a locked door, your knuckles bleeding you do not really know what prayer is. Augustine: You put forth your hand from on high,” and you drew my soul out of that pit of darkness, when before you my mother, your faithful servant, wept more for me than mothers weep over their children's dead bodies. By that spirit of faith which she had from you, she saw my death, and you graciously heard her, O Lord. . . . You did not despise her tears when they flowed down from her eyes and watered the earth beneath, in whatsoever place she prayed. Graciously you heard her. . . . For almost nine years passed, in which I wallowed “in the mire of the deep” and in the darkness of error, and although I often strove to rise out of it, I was all the more grievously thrust down again. But all the while, that chaste, devout, and sober widow . . . ceased not in all her hours of prayer to lament over me before you. Her prayers entered into your sight. 1 The conversion of St.Augustine of Hippo (AD 354–430) was an answer to his mother's persistent prayers.  Duane Brooks: When God's Kingdom comes – his rule, his reign, then his will is done here as in heaven.Alan Redpath: I can never pray your Kingdom Come until I am willing to pray, My Kingdom go.Robert Law: Prayer is a mighty instrument, not for getting man's will done in heaven, but for getting God's will done on earth.”   Richard Foster: To pray is to change. Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us. Prayer is not about bending God's will to our own, but about aligning ourselves with God's will, which shapes and transforms us.George W. Truett: To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge; to do the will of God is the greatest activity.C. S. Lewis: There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'Unknown: The real trouble in life begins when we get what you want . . . your will!  Jim Cymbala: I'm a little embarrassed when Christians cry out over the lack of prayer in schools, when there is no prayer in churches. David Butts in his book Forgotten Power: The early church didn't just have prayer meeting . . . the early church was a prayer meeting. To discover more messages of hope go to tallowood.org/sermons/.Follow us on Instagram, X, and YouTube @tallowoodbc.Follow us on FaceBook @tallowoodbaptist

Passage: 1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was in all God's household. 3 For Jesus is considered worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder has more honor than the house. 4 Now every house is built by someone, but the one who built everything is God. 5 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's household, as a testimony to what would be said in the future. 6 But Christ was faithful as a Son over his household. And we are that household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast. -- Hebrews 3:1-6 (CSB) Song: Faithful by Camaryn Avers and Erik Nieder Lyrics: Lord you search me how you know me You perceive my every thought from afar In all my wandering still you love me King of glory you pursue my anxious heart Even when I'm not you're faithful Even when I doubt your truth holds Even when I'm lost you won't let me go When my heart is dry your grace flows No matter where I run I'm not far from home Yea I may be weak but you're able Even when I'm not you're faithful Even when I'm not you're faithful Lord you search me how you know me You perceive my every thought from afar In all my wandering still you love me King of glory you pursue my anxious heart Where can I go from your spirit Where can I hide from your face Where can I flee from your presence Where would I go where would I go If I rise to the heavens you're with me If I fall to the depths of the sea Even there it's your hand that will lead me Wherever I go wherever I go Prayer: O God, our refuge and strength, true source of all godliness: Graciously hear the devout prayers of your Church, and grant that those things which we ask faithfully, we may obtain effectually; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. It is a process, but we are not alone. We partner with the Holy Spirit and prayerfully ask the Lord to guide and direct us as we seek to honor Him and all we say and do.  SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: Shifting Our Family's Mindset By: Laura Bailey “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV “Why can't we go to an ice cream place after school? It's been over a week since we've gone!” “Why can't I buy those new shoes? I only have two pairs of sneakers; these are different!” “ Why does it matter that I left my new jacket at school? If something happens to it, we will just get a new one.” “Why can't we get take-out? We never get to eat out!” Over the last month, my girls complained often about my husband and me not meeting their expectations. I was beyond frustrated at their lack of appreciation; it didn't matter what we did for them, they were still ungrateful.  I shared my frustration with a group of mom friends the next day with nodding heads; many others shared similar stories. “We want to provide for our children, give them opportunities, and make their lives enjoyable and comfortable. But how do we do that while preventing a sense of entitlement and fostering genuine gratitude?” one mom asked the group. Even among the body of believers who strive to guard their hearts against excess consumerism and are dedicated to giving back to the Lord and sharing their wealth, the reality is that our resources are abundant for many. There's nothing wrong with having a career that provides financial stability or providing our families with experiences and resources to make their lives easier and better. The problem is when our hearts and minds shift from stewardship to ownership. What is the difference between stewardship and ownership? Stewardship is when we are responsible for caring for something that belongs to someone else. Ownership is full possession; it is entirely ours to do what we wish. As Christians, we acknowledge that everything comes from God and are s simply stewards of His gifts ( John 3:27).  When we believe everything belongs to the Lord, it guides us as we decide how to spend our time and money. As stewards and not owners, we ask ourselves, “Is the best use of  God's resources?” While Scripture is not against wealth, having nice things, or even living a comfortable life, it does admonish us to be on guard against storing earthly treasures (Matthew 6:19-21). It places the responsibility of caring for those in need on us (Proverbs 22:9). If we find that we are clinging tightly to financial security or personal comfort, if we lack an attitude of gratitude, then we have shifted from stewardship to ownership. Graciously, if we ask God to examine our hearts, He will help us as we move back towards His desires for our life ( Psalm 129:23-34).  Setting the Example Have you heard the term, “It's not what's taught but what's caught?” Our children are impacted more by how we live our lives than by the mini-sermons, lessons, and general advice we share. We shouldn't neglect to speak Truth over them, but all will be lost if we don't “practice what we preach.” I often feel the tug to complain about making dinner at home when it would be so much easier to eat out and flop on the sofa afterward rather than having to make and clean up a meal. When I see the latest clothing trend I'd love to buy, I have to stop and think about whether it's wise to purchase it. We must be hyper-aware that our children are always watching us; they are taking it all in, and as parents, we must not only be hearers of the Word but also doers (James 1:22-25).  Creating a Mindset of Gratitude When Paul writes to the Thessalonians, encouraging them to be thankful in all circumstances ( 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18), he is not ignoring the realities of life in a fallen world, yet reminding them that gratitude is a heart position. As believers, we can wake up daily with thanksgiving because we have the Gospel's good news. We were once in darkness, and now, through the gift of salvation, we can experience eternal life ( 1 Corinthians 5:17-21).  Shifting our family's mindset from ownership to stewardship, from entitlement to gratitude, and promoting sacrifice and service will take consistency, commitment, and care. It is a process, but we are not alone. We partner with the Holy Spirit and prayerfully ask the Lord to guide and direct us as we seek to honor Him and all we say and do.  Intersecting Faith and Life:How can you teach your children to honor God with their resources? When we are under attack, stuck in one of Satan's strongholds, we can break free with the help of Jesus Christ! But, as we see in the following verses, it is vital that we continually guard our minds, bathing ourselves in truth to prevent and shut down spiritual strongholds before they overtake us.  SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: Fighting Spiritual Strongholds By: Laura Bailey  “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV “I think I am stuck,” wincing as the words came out of my mouth, I waited to hear my husband's response. “I'll be up there in a minute,” he quickly replied.  As my husband pulled up in his truck, assessing the situation, I could tell by the expression on his face that it wasn't good. After a few minutes of trying to get the car out of the mud, he said, " You are going to need a tow truck.” I knew he was trying to control his irritation, but the truth was, I deserved it. I knew I shouldn't have gone down that road. For the last few months, my road has been under construction. The road was blocked off just a few hundred feet from my driveway, causing us to take a 10-minute detour whenever we wanted to leave the house. Countless times in the past few weeks, I have seen cars drive around the “ road closed” barriers, so I thought I could, too. Except on this particular day, I didn't consider that it had been raining all morning, making the clay dirt turn into a thick, gooey paste. To prevent washout, the construction team placed a large pile of gravel at the end of the path, making it impossible to get through. And the thing is, as I slowly inched my way around the barriers, I knew this wasn't a good idea. Still, ignoring the quiet voice in my thoughts that encouraged me to turn back, I trudged ahead.  At first, it wasn't that bad, my tires quickly making their way through the mud, but when I saw the gravel barrier, I knew I was in trouble. That wasn't the first time I'd taken that path; I'd cut through the closed-off road numerous times. Time after time, I sailed smoothly through the construction zone, avoiding the long detour; I knew it wasn't the best decision, yet I still did it.  Sitting there waiting for my husband, berating myself for my poor choices, I thought about a sermon I'd once heard about sin. The preacher said, “We dabble in sin; satan dominates.” We often convince ourselves that our sin isn't that bad, especially compared to others.  If they can do it, why can't we?  We didn't get caught last time, so it must be okay.  We try to rationalize our rebellion against God, knowing in our hearts that what we are doing is wrong. And that's the thing about sin; typically, our little rebellion becomes more significant. The white lie morphs into a whopper. The occasional overspending leads to a snowball of debt. The innocent flirtation leads to an emotional affair. We have an enemy whose sole mission is to” kill, steal and destroy” ( John 10:10). He wants nothing more than to believe that we can control our sin, but instead, it often controls us. In our key verse, Paul reminds the Corinthians that they are fighting a spiritual battle. But they don't fight with the flesh; they have divine power to demolish strongholds. A stronghold is a barrier; our enemy erects numerous strongholds to destroy biblical truth. As believers, we put on the armor of God, knowing that we don't fight alone; we have the power of the Holy Spirit. When we are under attack, stuck in one of Satan's strongholds, we can break free with the help of Jesus Christ! But, as we see in the following verses, it is vital that we continually guard our minds, bathing ourselves in truth to prevent and shut down spiritual strongholds before they overtake us.  Graciously, a sister in Christ and her husband came to my aid that day. They worked for almost an hour and nearly got stuck themselves to free my car. The Lord taught me numerous lessons that day. Sin can quickly overtake us, but when we call on the name of Jesus Christ, we have the power to fight the devil's schemes. Our Heavenly Father also gives us the gift of the body of believers. We are meant to support, lift, and pull our brothers and sisters out of sin if needed.  The Lord granted me mercy that day; the situation could have been much worse. After a few days, I saw a car go around the barriers; as I quickly drove past, I prayed to the Lord for the lessons learned.  Intersecting Faith and Life: Thinking about this quotation, “We dabble in sin; satan dominates,” is there an area in your life where your sin started small but has begun to take over completely? Ask the Lord for forgiveness and the power to fight this attack. Take it further; reach out to your local church or godly friend to help you overcome this spiritual stronghold.  For Further Reading: Overcoming Strongholds 1 Corinthians 10:13 Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

First up, Lawrence Kasdan adapts Anne Tyler's best-seller The Accidental Tourist (1988) where William Hurt (Body Heat), struck by tragedy and living an isolated existence, glimpses a chance at a new beginning with the most unexpected of people. Co-starring Geena Davis (Beetlejuice) in the role that earned her an Oscar, the ensemble cast and tonal shifts from melancholy to quirky humor made this a critical hit deserving of more eyes on it. Next up, director Paul Brickman's long awaited (and only!) follow-up to Risky Business, Men Don't Leave (1990) serves as a complimentary drama with a stellar lead performance from Jessica Lange that came and went with little fanfare... until now. Also, Frank has prescriptions older than Mike, contrasting critical notices on Kasdan's drama from Ebert, Maslin & Kael, cinematic “big swings”, and the state of dramatic adult fare in the movies of today are all discussed in this latest helping of I Eat Movies!

This “is a prayer for God to renew his vitality” Ross, 490. Lev. 18:5 connects life with keeping God's law.The Psalms refer “to YHWH as the God who can give life to the dead (Pss. 30:4; 116:3-4, 8-9)” Hermenia, 269.119:26 I have told of my ways, and you have answered me- “More than anything else, the time of trouble is to be a time of prayer. These eight verses contain seven prayers” Motyer, 567. “The word (drk), ‘way' appears five times (vs. 26, 27, 29, 30, 32). Teach me Your statues- vs. 12 119:27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts- vs. 18. This same word translated make me understand is used in vs. 34, 73, 125, 144, 169. He asks for understanding “that I may learn Your commandments” (73), that “I may know Your testimonies” (125), that “I may observe Your law” (34). God's enlightening helps the psalmist do all of this. At the same time, God's enlightening comes from the word itself (104, 130). So I will meditate on Your wonders- meditate- vs. 15. Wonders connects with vs. 18. “The time of trouble is also a time of special commitment, to fix the mind on His wonderful word” Motyer, 567. Wonders are connected with God's mighty acts throughout history.119:28 Strengthen me according to Your word- God revives us (25) and strengthens us (28) by His word.” Ross, 269. The word strengthen “is literally ‘cause me to stand,' which is reminiscent of the literal meaning ‘resurrection'” McCann, 1169.119:29 Remove the false way from me- 139:24; Prov. 14:12; 16:25 “The word ‘deceit' may be ‘falsehood' or ‘deception.'And graciously grant me Your law- “Graciously teach is a single word, ‘be gracious.'” Kidner, 424. “The word of God. Is also a means of grace, as it keeps one away from the ways of the world'' VanGemeren, 865. “It is a happy reminder that God's law is a good gift and is only the antithesis of grace when it is used to earn salvation” Kidner, 424. 119:30 I have chosen the faithful way- It is a time “to choose and set the heart on his truth” Motyer, 567. The faithful way or way of truth is a stark contrast with the false way of vs. 29. While he has chosen God's way, he asks for God's blessing in removing the false way. 119:31 I cleave to Your testimonies- In vs. 25 the author cleaves to dust but here it is God's testimonies they cleave to. This verb is used of our relationship to the LORD in Deut. 10:20; 11:22; 13:4; 30:20.O LORD, do not put me to shame!- vs. 6; Ps. 31:1119:32 I shall run the way of Your commandments- This expresses his eagerness to please God. Running “is another way of suggesting not mere compliance with YHWH's expectations but living by them enthusiastically and energetically” Estes, 409. For You will enlarge my heart- Maybe God has deepened his understanding or his happiness. “The motif of ‘widening' the heart (v. 32b)…is a contrast to the image of ‘distress' and ‘confinement' or ‘narrowness' that, in the lament psalms, describe  the external and internal troubles of the petitioner (Cf., for example, Pss. 31:8-9; 118:5)” Hermenia, 269.

In today's episode, we're tackling a topic that is incredibly relevant to all working moms: how to confidently prioritize our many responsibilities. With numerous commitments and tasks pulling us in different directions, it can be challenging to determine what truly deserves our focus. Yet, God has provided us with wisdom and guidance through His Word, and today, I'm sharing practical tips to help you prioritize with confidence. We all have those moments where our to-do lists seem never-ending, and it feels like everything is both important and urgent. This overwhelming pressure can lead to stress and guilt when we can't accomplish everything. But as Christians, we have a unique advantage—we can turn to God for guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. By taking our concerns to God in prayer, we open ourselves up to His wisdom and direction. Prayer isn't just about asking for things; it's about transforming our hearts and aligning our actions with His will. Reflecting on scripture, such as Matthew 6:33, which reminds us to seek first His kingdom, helps us focus on what truly matters. When we align our priorities with God's kingdom, everything else falls into place. This process requires patience and faith, but trust that He will provide the clarity and direction you need. Understanding our core values and goals is another crucial step in setting priorities. Taking the time to reflect on what truly matters to you and writing down your core values and goals can be incredibly enlightening. When new opportunities or demands arise, evaluating them against these values and goals can help you filter out distractions and focus on what's truly important. For example, if one of your core values is spending quality time with your family, prioritize activities that strengthen those bonds. If growing in your faith is a goal, make time for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. One of the biggest challenges we face as working moms is the pressure to say yes to everything. However, learning to say no with grace is essential for maintaining balance and focusing on what truly matters. It's okay to say no, and in fact, it's necessary. By saying no to things that don't align with your priorities, you create space for the things that do. Remember, Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to be wise and make the most of every opportunity. Graciously declining requests that don't fit with your core values and goals is a powerful way to protect your time and energy. To hear more about these tips and how to implement them in your daily life, make sure to listen to the full episode. I hope these insights will encourage and support you as you seek to balance faith, family, and work. God has a plan for you, and by seeking His guidance and prioritizing according to His will, you can navigate your responsibilities with confidence and peace. Until next time, keep seeking God, loving your family, and living life to the fullest. God bless, and I'll see you in the next episode!   Want to chat with Lindsay?
