This OG of directly contracted high-value networks or Centers of Excellence networks came up, name dropped and everything in the episode with Elizabeth Mitchell from PBGH, the Purchaser Business Group on Health, from two weeks ago. That was episode 491. So, welcome to this deep cut episode with Olivia Ross from way back, pre-pandemic times. This episode of Relentless Health Value revisits the concept of directly contracted high value networks or Centers of Excellence (ECEN) with Olivia Ross. The discussion explores the impact and potential of the ECEN network, emphasizing the importance of quality, price transparency, and multidisciplinary approaches in healthcare. Olivia delves into the reasons why ECEN was significant in past PBGH projects and its current relevance, despite its eventual dismantling due to corporate changes. The episode highlights the benefits for employers in creating their own high-value networks and the positive outcomes from fewer unnecessary surgeries and better quality care. Additionally, it covers the rigorous process of selecting Centers of Excellence and how continuous quality improvement efforts benefit both employers and healthcare providers. === LINKS ===
In this episode, Stacia and Dani sit down once again with Cole Napper, author of “People Analytics: Using Data-Driven HR and Gen AI as a Business Asset.” A year after his first appearance, Cole returns with bold insights about the seismic changes facing HR and people analytics, and why now is the time to rethink how we define value in the workplace.Cole argues that the future of HR depends on shedding its transactional skin and embracing a new, data-driven paradigm. He discusses why traditional models like Dave Ulrich's COE framework won't survive the decade, how organizations can “discorrelate” from market forces by proving business value, and why fear, not technology, is the biggest obstacle to transformation. With sharp humor and evidence from his own research, Cole makes the case for a redefined HR: one that blends human strategy with AI-powered intelligence to drive growth, not just efficiency. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in...[00:00] Building a new HR paradigm in the Gen AI era.[06:00] Why people analytics hit its “identity crisis” after 2022.[12:00] How to prove HR's business value beyond metrics.[19:00] The decline of the Ulrich HR model and what replaces it.[24:00] The future of AI-driven workforce transformation.[33:00] The tension between the HR and finance worldviews.[46:00] Why data infrastructure is suddenly “sexy” again.[52:00] Three possible futures for HR in the next decade.Building a New Paradigm for People AnalyticsCole's new book calls for a reset in how organizations use data, not as an isolated reporting function but as a business accelerator. He reveals how people analytics can move from being “scorekeepers” to strategic partners by tackling the questions behind the questions: Why is it happening? What should we do about it? His message is clear, analytics must tie directly to revenue, cost, or risk reduction, or it's just a hobby. The End of HR as We Know ItCole predicts that the Ulrich model, the long-standing HR framework of COEs, service centers, and HRBPs, won't survive the coming decade. As generative AI automates much of HR's transactional work, only the strategic and human elements will remain. He and the hosts debate what should stay human and what can be delegated to machines, exploring the fine line between technological efficiency and organizational soul.AI, Accountability, and the Future of WorkCole cautions that while AI's potential is vast, it cannot replace human accountability. Drawing a parallel with the evolution of chess, he argues that AI will transform HR's “game,” not erase it. The goal isn't to align around AI as a tool, but to use it to unlock entirely new possibilities in how we work, learn, and grow.Infrastructure, Not IllusionFor all the hype, Cole reminds leaders that the foundation of AI success lies in data infrastructure, “the least sexy but most essential lever.” Without it, organizations risk failure in the next wave of transformation. Investing in data quality, architecture, and scalability today determines who thrives, or disappears, tomorrow.Resources & People MentionedPeople Analytics: Using Data-Driven HR and Gen AI as a Business Asset by Cole NapperConnect with Cole NapperCole on LinkedInConnect With Red Thread ResearchWebsite: Red Thread ResearchOn LinkedInOn FacebookOn Twitter
We made some progress in the bracketing process for the NCAA playoffs this year! Every team that earned a first-round bye was actually awarded one. Seems like a low bar when you talk about it that way, but ... if there were a big sign up in the committee room, it would say, "1 year without giving a first-round bye to a team which didn't earn it via NPI." In the end, this bracket has a lot to like -- even though a number of teams are in the NCAA playoffs for at least the fifth consecutive year, 10 teams, in fact -- there are still a lot of new matchups. Susquehanna vs. W&J isn't seen very often. Concordia (Wis.) and Coe? LaGrange and Framingham State certainly not. Hanover and Grove City? How about the MIAA-WIAC crossover games? We talk with John Snell, the NCAA football championships committee chair for Division III, and he tells us what was important for the committee this year, and yes, a good part of it was restricting as many flights as possible and removing the chance of them from this bracket. Somehow, we knew this would happen, and wrote a whole song about it! Yes, there's a new parody in this edition of the podcast. What are the best first-round games and the best second-round games? What team playing in the first round could advance a couple of rounds in this bracket? Also, what is semifinal sauce? And what would the Texas teams have to do, in theory, to keep from having to play each other so early in the playoffs? We hear you, we feel you, we ask the question. Plus, we take a bunch of your mailbag questions. We also hand out game balls, bring you through the crazy stats of the week, highlight the key goings-on in Region 1 through Region 6, get you games to look forward to next week. And we take your questions in the mailbag segment. That and more in this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

The Captains of Christopher Newport are back in the playoffs for the second time in three years and for the 12th time in their relatively short history. And they got there by knocking the Sea Gulls of Salisbury off their perch on Saturday night, in a pretty epic battle under the lights. In one week, Eastern went from the driver's seat in the Middle Atlantic Conference to booking a ticket to the big dance for the first time -- and this is a program that three years ago, had never even been on this metaphorical bus. We bring Eastern coach Billy Crocker for another round on the Fast Five machine, after he last joined us for Podcast 333. And who knows what seat at the table Hudson Fulcher-Melendy will be relegated to this Thanksgiving when the family gathers for the feast. Hudson is the Amherst kicker, who was 4-for-4 on field goals in Amherst's 14-13 win, and whose sisters Dylan and Madison played women's volleyball and soccer, respectively, for Williams, and whose mom, Lisa Melendy, has been athletic director at Williams for the past 15 years! More coverage and interviews from Amherst-Williams on our YouTube channel Honestly, if someone is telling you F&M and Coe have no chance to make this field if they lose ... they may be working with faulty assumptions. To do that accurately, you have to project the results of all of the remaining Week 11 games, and projecting the team with the higher NPI as the winner across a hundred games is going to get you some data that doesn't line up. F&M and Coe absolutely have a chance, and in Analytics 301, Logan Hansen will tell you who else has a chance with two losses. Plus we hand out game balls, bring you through the crazy stats of the week, highlight the key goings-on in Region 1 through Region 6, get you games to look forward to next week. And we take your questions in the mailbag segment. That and more in this edition of the D3football.com Around the Nation podcast.

The certificate of entitlement (COE) premium for smaller cars and electric vehicles (EVs) reached another high of $128,105 at the Oct 8 exercise, up 7.6 per cent from the previous tender. This is the third consecutive tender where a record was set in Category A, which is meant for smaller and less powerful cars and EVs. The previous high was $119,003, recorded at the tender on Sept 17. The premium for Category B COEs, used to register larger and more powerful cars and EVs, was $141,000 – a 3 per cent increase from the $136,890 registered at the last exercise. It is the highest the Category B COE price has been since the record of $150,001 was set in October 2023. What’s driving this relentless climb, and how much higher can prices go? Plus, what does this mean for the average car buyer trying to navigate this market? On The Big Story, Hongbin Jeong speaks with Lee Nian Tjoe, Senior Transport Correspondent, The Straits Times, to find out more. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to Arvind Sontha, COE and co-founder of Kyber, an AI startup redefining how carriers handle claims correspondence. The insurance industry is undergoing a seismic shift as carries face mounting pressure to deliver faster, more transparent, and compliant communications to policy holders and clients, so the need for digital claims transformation has never been greater. KEY TAKEAWAYS If you think about insurance and tailoring insurance, the underlying model for risk is effectively a ‘user personal model'. We started with an obscure line of insurance that didn't exist yet – or did around personal cyber insurance. We wondered what it would look like, rather than SMB or commercial cyber insurance, as individual underwriting and risk modelling. We got lucky finding a great partner in branch insurance very early on. Over the course of our time engaging with them we ended up turning into an extension of their team. We were able to work closely with them, they trusted us to quickly understand their problems and iterate to give them quick solutions, while at the same time they understood that there are going to be quirks with products that aren't fully fleshed out which they could iron out over time. It was a symbiotic relationship. If an adjustor has to take an hour to put a document together you have to clear a 1.5-hour space in your calendar to do that. Life is hectic, you have meetings and other tasks to do and so that 1.5-hour block keeps getting moved back, same thing happens to managers. If you can take it from 1.5 hours to 30 seconds for a high-quality letter and a one-click process to approve, you can slip that into any part of your calendar. That's a really underrated part of the process. Some of the things we want to do in the future is include things like managed parameters. We think it's obtuse for all the carriers to manage all the fraud language individually all the time, for example. Kyber could manage that for you to make sure everything's automatically compliant and good to go. Statutory language really enables the full organisation to be prepared to catch each other. BEST MOMENTS ‘Kyber is an AI native, document generation and delivery platform made for claims teams, that's what we do.' ‘Nobody doubted that I could build the complex AI to underwrite and quantify the risk, what they needed to figure out was could I sell insurance, which is why I got my broker's licence!' ‘The results have been better than I expected, we've seen 65% faster drafting times, 80% consolidation of their templates across a 50-state operation, and 5x reduction in letter cycle times for documents.' ABOUT THE GUESTS Arvind Sontha is co-founder and CEO of Kyber, an AI startup that is redefining how carriers' NTPAs handle claims correspondence. Arvind is at the forefront of digital transformation, leading Kyber's mission to automate and streamline the entire lifecycle of claims forms and letters. Kyber's clients report the impact of AI automation is undeniable: Claims teams using Kyber have reduced letter drafting time by up to 85%, cut review time by 60%, and achieved a 3x faster outreach to policy holders. Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Peter Knego, son of actor Peter Coe and model Rosalee Calvert. Peter doesn't pull many punches on this episode as we discuss the mercurial character that was his father. Known for his roles in films from the 1940s onward, be it Gung Ho!, Gypsy Wildcat or Louisiana Hussy, Coe is best remembered for his for his wild offscreen ways, his dark good look, his many wives and more. In fact, many will remember Peter Coe best for his horror film career in films like House of Frankenstein & The Mummy's Curse both which starred Lon Cheyney Jr. However it might be his lasting friendship at the very end of his life with b-movie director Ed Wood that piques the most interest with fans. In fact, Wood died in Coe's apartment. And our guest Peter was there to witness it all believe it or not. We discuss this fascinating and disturbing story coming up. We also discuss Peter's mother, model Rosalee Cavlert who might have been the most famous model of the 1950s and 1960s. In fact, while she did act, she often played a model in films like Made in Paris and The Oscar, both starring host Josh Mills' mother, Edie Adams. We talk about Peter's time with his mother growing up pretty much in poverty while somehow living in an exclusive enclave of Los Angeles. The story Peter weaves about how this happens is fascinating. Along the way we discuss couture designer James Galanos, Atlantic Records music mogul Ahmet Ertegun, how Coe escaped the Nazi's, the cult rock band Sparks, Bela Lugosi, having dinner with Mel Brooks, grade Z actor Paul Marco & much more. Peter is nothing if not self-effacing, straight forward, funny, matter of fact and quite happy to tell us both the good and the bad of growing up the child of a celebrity. Take a listen. Everyone has a story. Rarely are they this unique.

Come along with us on a ride in this episode as we experience the world of Cup of Excellence coffee auctions for the first time. We were chasing a special lot from our Best Friends Club producer, Nelín Guzman, as his coffee took 5th place in his category for all of Honduras. We talk through how these auctions work, why countries like Honduras now use new categories, and how even with categories, varieties like Parainema still command a high price. We also dig into what it means to bring coffees of this caliber back to our guests — using them in competitions and adding them to our menu in a limited quantity. For us, it wasn't about winning the auction – there was a small chance of that happening anyway – but more so about what doors being a part of the COE opens for us in the future. And hey, you need to start somewhere. It was a wild time of an early morning, side bets, and high energy. Buckle up.
