Perfectionism is killing authentic relationships, even in the homeschool community. Teaching is love. It is simple. It is pure and doable. Leave the quest for perfection aside. We don’t see the truth behind the perfect Instagram reel, only the curated lives. Join me in homeschooling the imperfect way while pointing our children to the perfect One.

Being called to MOM, and also being called to serve, a conversation with Jessie Kuhn,

I was bowled over when I heard Jessie Kuhn of Oaks Counseling say, “it took me three kids to realize I was being called to be a Mom”. It's those types of unfiltered truths that we need to hear today. Courageous Moms who are willing to hold themselves to a standard of need, YES, you read that right, a standard of need. You thought I was going to say a standard of perfection right? Nope, you should know me better than that. Realizing that where we are now, isn't necessarily where we will be is one of the first steps towards self-acceptance and improvement. Oftentimes we can be blind to recognizing that our own needs as parents sometimes fall secondary to the homeschool agenda. I struggle with this daily, but even greater than me, greater than how I feel, is realizing that I need HIM, even more, to move me where I need to be. Jessie Kuhn, LPC-SClinical Director This conversation challenged me, and in fact, in the last few weeks from taping, I even had the privilege to implement some things like using worship to start my mornings. This transition from the constant news playing in the background, to a few minutes in worship has had some tangible results in my home. I feel as though I have tools to both serve my family, attend to my profession and be present in my calling.Come take a listen on how managing, a career, a calling, and the children you have been blessed with can be done.About Jessie Kuhn: Jessie Kuhn is a homeschool mom of 3, living in Round Rock Texas. She's been married for 14 years and serves as the clinical director of Oaks Counseling, a counseling ministry for missionaries and cross-cultural workers. She sees her roles as a wife, mother, teacher, and counselor each as a call from the Lord and impossible to balance without dependence on Him. She believes that perfectionism belongs alone to the Lord and that our limitations and brokenness invite us into greater intimacy with Him!You can reach Jessie at https://oakscounseling.org/..

When I first met Susan, I had been at a crossroads. Can I do this? Can I homeschool daily? Can I cover all the subjects and point my son's heart to Jesus? It wasn't a resounding yes until I took her workshop at the Texas Homeschool Coalition Conference and it became a loud boom of a YES I CAN! One of the first things I noticed was her ability to use her own experiences as a mother of 7 to breathe life into moms. She was not only encouraging but she was also practical. I loved how her encouragement didn't seem veiled in a cloak of criticism, it was genuine. I hope you enjoy this first episode where we tackle perfectionism in the homeschool, how we run our race, how to encourage others in the direction God has called them, and how to do it all well, not for pandemic, but for the long haul.

Happy Launch Day! What started out as a crazy idea to open up the conversation about the struggles of homeschooling during Pandemic has turned into a full-on Podcast y'all! I am so excited to share this labor of love. From the moment that I thought about it, I have been blessed to have people cheering me on and sharing their own struggles with perfectionism. It's eye-opening to hear how perfectionism has stunted their homeschool and family life, or how it has impacted how they saw themselves in relation to others. This is MY why!I no longer want to feel as if I have someone else's story to recreate. That includes copying someone's homeschool journey. God has given me all these blessings in the form of lessons for me to be able to share how HE has helped me make it through, despite my best efforts to derail HIS plans for my life. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it. Preview of Episode 1 with Susan Seaay
