Explorations on the pursuit of masculinity as defined by scripture and lived out by normal human begins who have been placed here for "such a time as this". Looking at the deep cultural, mythological, and spiritual root systems that have laid our foundati
You don't have to run from the fearful are feeling from the hour we are in. Why would God ask us to have courage if we were never going to experience fear? Why would God ask us to have faith if we were never going to experience doubt? It's not about ignoring or minimizing the emotions we are experiencing, it's about knowing who to give them to. There is one who is above the circumstances and the plans of man, he is laughing, as all their plans will eventually work together for His glory and ultimate unveiling. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
We have been in a crash course for many years with the Jesus of the Bible and the counterfeit “Jesus” of Western Culture. In this hour of trauma the counterfeit Jesus who cares more about my circumstance than my sin seems way more attractive but he is not the all-powerful deity of scripture, he is an unprofessional, feel-good counselor whose main concern is that you like him not that you become holy. This counterfeit Jesus can never transform the human heart and ultimately leaves us disillusioned and disappointed. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
We have been given something so beautiful by God; The opportunity to partner with him in stewarding his mysteries on earth. His mysteries allow space for mass amounts of tension in the midst of chaos. We are not a people of easy answers we are people who willingly receive the mysteries of a transcendent God who trusts his people with indescribable glory in order to reveal his presence in the remarkable ordinary and utterly confusing. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
In the context of Titus 3 we see that the revealing of Gods nature isn't abstract or inconsistent, it is something we can stand on with confidence and receive from as His children. This is our great hope, not some distant future in heaven but in the “now” through relational availability, not based on my works but on his character which is the same yesterday, today and forever. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
Our gratefulness should already begin with the simple fact that we are saved. That our loving, transcendent, beautiful creator has a name, he came for us, he did not leave us to our brokenness and sin, he redeemed and rescued by grace in his loving kindness. If our gratefulness begins with anything else it will be circumstantial and will fade with each passing season. Gratefulness for salvation gives us a lasting l, firm foundation we can stand on for eternity. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
You were born to the right family, in the right nation, in the right city, in the right time, to bring God the most glory with your life. But that doesn't always happen in the way that we think. We have grandiose images of worship and prayer and stadium gatherings which all may play a part but it also looks like simple servant hood and submission as well as obedience and faithfulness, gentleness kindness towards all people. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
Learning to embrace the season we are in trusting that God “makes everything beautiful in time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11) We can't fight the winter, beg for the summer, reject the Autumn, or quicken the Spring, we must embrace natural order and seasonal shifts for what they reveal to us about the character of God, trusting His leadership and love. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
Understanding the difference between confusion and mystery is not as hard as it seems. In an hour of so much noise we have to know the difference and begin to recognize the beauty of mystery and embrace it on this side of eternity. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
Sharing a personal parenting fail story from yesterday. Being at home with the kids and family in such tight quarters for this extended period of time leaves loads of opportunity for pressures to arise, anxiety to increase and frustration to erupt. But it also makes space for peace to thrive, mercy to be shared, and love to grow. Here's my experience. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
Is it possible that trying to fix the past and figure out the future is actually a manifestation of our own ego? What if Jesus has blessed our past and the father has planned our future so that we can be anchored in the Holy Spirit today in the present? We are not in a hurry to get through the hard things, they teach us more than any season of blessing ever could. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejakehamiltonpodcast/message
