Doing the Brain Surgery with Diana Patton

Diana Patton is one of the most motivational and enlightening people to talk to. I met her while working in Toledo. She is a rockstar public speaker, attorney, author, social justice advocate, and overall inspiring person. We talk about this L.A. traffic stop that turned very ugly, and Diana talks about how bias and racism connect back to mental health. She gets vulnerable, explaining to me the "George Floyd Pause" she experienced this summer, and how she sought help and continues to overcome and help others do the same. Can people learn to be kinder to others again? I hoped I'd get some answers and hope from her, and I did. Talking about Death with The Capaul Twins

Michiganders unite!! In this episode, I talk to the Capaul Twins from the "Let's Talk About Death" podcast. Growing up in a funeral home in Ida, Michigan, they have unique perspectives on death, dying, and grief. Benny went into the family business and is a fourth-generation funeral professional, and his brother Dr. Nick is a psychologist. They want people to know the importance of talking about death throughout life, and after-care. We also identified the generational differences in handling death and funeral customs, talking to children about death, and the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on funerals and people grieving a loss. That includes my theatre community in Monroe. This special episode is dedicated to my friend and castmate, Haley Langmeyer, and her family.
