In that question, I mentioned I wasn't interested in a Bergara after my first experience with them. I'm writing in again to elaborate as requested. It's kind of a long story so buckle up.I bought a Bergara B14-HMR in 6.5 CM and was pretty excited as it was my first “higher end” bolt action, or so I thought. I took it out shooting a few times and just couldn't seem to get it to group well and I was running out of adjustment on my scope. I was a bit confused but I figured id just double check all my mounting. So as I was cleaning it after that range trip, I looked at it from the front and thought the scope looked a little crooked. I got about a hundred second opinions and sure enough, something was off. I thought “there's no way the scope or the gun could be built that wrong”. I warrantied the scope rail and the rings as well as replaced them twice, but neither fixed the problem. So I started talking to the scope manufacturer and sent it in to be checked. They sent it back with a green light and said there was no problems. At this point I was several weeks into tracing down problems and emailing manufacturers so it pissed me off. I finally decided it must be the gun. I took it to a gunsmith and he started mounting a rail on it and everything finally became clear. Instead of starting all the screws a little then going through and torquing them like I had done, he installed the rear screws fully. This edition of The Neil Haley Show opens with a Total Celebrity conversation with actor Philip Winchester about bringing his Chicago Justice character, prosecutor Peter Stone, over to Law & Order: SVU. Winchester explained that Dick Wolf revived the character after Justice ended, dropping Stone into New York around a right-to-die case and the death of his father, and pulling him in through Sam Waterston's Jack McCoy. Where Justice kept Stone in the courtroom, SVU digs into the man himself, his brokenness, family secrets, and the pressure of joining a team that does not want him there. Winchester described Stone as someone who sees the law in black and white after years in homicide, only to discover that the SVU world is anything but, as victims forget, are coerced, or are impaired, and Olivia Benson begrudgingly takes him under her wing. He credited the writing staff, including Michael Chernuchin and others with legal backgrounds, for the impassioned closing arguments and for teaching him a subject entirely new to him, and he pointed to the show's long run as proof that audiences respond to flawed people who still find the strength to do right. The closest things I can think of currently would be the B&T TP9 or their USW. But I'm wondering why no one else is tapping into the whole oversized 9mm pistol with a brace/stock market trend. Gun Industry News Guns CMP to Sell Military Surplus M14 Rifles The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) announced it will sell a limited number of surplus U.S. military M14 rifles (7.62 NATO) produced 1959-1965 by H&R, Springfield Armory, TRW and Winchester. The rifles, from the total production run of 1.38 million, have been permanently modified to semi-automatic configuration to comply with ATF regulations and CMP enabling legislation for .30-caliber rifles. A court has heard that Joshua Kerry walked into Ann Widdecombe's kitchen while she was eating lunch and struck her 21 times on the head with a hammer. He then allegedly tipped her out of her chair, took her wallet and drove away.  Twenty-one blows. Inside her own home. While she was simply sitting down to eat her lunch. Whatever the eventual verdict, the allegations presented in court paint a horrifying picture of brutality. Tonight I'm asking a bigger question: What the hell has happened to Britain? This is not simply about one appalling killing. It is about the growing sense that our country has become harder, colder and more violent.  Too many elderly people are frightened inside their own homes. Too many criminals appear to have no respect for life. Too many decent, law-abiding people feel abandoned by a system that seems incapable of protecting them. But there is another deeply disturbing question that must also be examined.  Was Ann Widdecombe targeted because of who she was and what she believed? We do not yet know whether politics played any part in this killing. That is a matter for the evidence and ultimately the court. But the question cannot simply be dismissed. Was this solely a savage robbery, or was there also a political motive?  And if Ann Widdecombe was targeted because of her beliefs, what would that say about the toxic state of politics in modern Britain? For years, political opponents have been demonised rather than debated. Public figures are abused, threatened and treated as though they are not human beings. Social media rewards hatred, outrage and intimidation. Have we allowed legitimate political disagreement to become poisonous? Have we created a climate where people are no longer merely challenged over their views, but despised because of them? How did we reach a point where an elderly woman could allegedly be attacked with such unimaginable violence in the sanctuary of her own kitchen? Has the collapse of personal responsibility, family values, discipline and respect for authority created a society where acts of extreme violence are becoming increasingly normalised? Have politicians of every party failed in their most basic duty — to protect the public? Tonight we will examine the shocking evidence heard in court, ask whether there is any indication that the killing was politically motivated, and debate what this dreadful case tells us about crime, public safety and the state of modern Britain. When one door closes, another one opens...
