Krisy Thomas, COO of the Certified Wedding Planner Society, is joined by two remarkable Certified Wedding Planners, Vicki Amar and Ashley Babbitt, to share their transformative journeys in the wedding industry. This captivating conversation highlights the power of education, certification, and community in shaping a successful career.Vicki Amar brings a fascinating perspective, having coordinated iconic New York City events like the Times Square New Year's Eve Ball Drop and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before transitioning to wedding planning. This approach gave her the confidence to pursue shadowing opportunities even during the challenges of the COVID period. Now a lead planner in Orlando, Ashley continues to advocate for education and mentorship, particularly for students entering the wedding industry. Both planners emphasize that certification provides more than just credentials, it offers ongoing education through weekly workshops, access to a supportive professional community, and the confidence to deliver exceptional service. Their stories highlight how the CWP Society transforms perspectives from competition to collaboration, creating networks of mutual support that benefit both planners and clients. This episode is packed with insights on professional growth, the value of specialized education, and how a community-centered approach is revolutionizing the wedding planning industry. This new episode is a slow drift into the textures of South India: the restless pulse of Chennai's streets, the stillness of a yoga shala at dawn, and the vast orchestration of a tropical night storm. These layers are touched gently with electronica—like glimmers of memory, like the way technology sits side by side with tradition in India. And, punctuating the journey, come the voices of teachers: fragments of WhatsApp messages that carry not just words but intention, care, and a lineage of practice in the simplest of forms. The episode is structured as a weave.Streets: density, rhythm, surrender to chaos.Shala: stillness, breath, intimacy with silence.Storm: scale, power, surrender to nature.Messages: guidance, lineage, the human voice carried across time and technology.Electronica acts as a thread, never dominating, but stitching the worlds together. A filtered bass line might echo the rumble of a bus or a thundercloud. A synth pad might stretch like the silence of a shala breath. Digital glitches mirror raindrops striking metal roofs. The weave is intentional but not forced. India itself is a weave: tradition and technology, chaos and stillness, ritual and improvisation. The episode mirrors this reality. The practice of this episode is the practice of listening. Not just passive listening, but active, embodied listening. In yoga, we speak of shravanam—the act of hearing as a form of learning. This is not entertainment. It is presence.

Step back in time to a vanished world of state-run circus schools, train journeys across the Soviet Union, and the dramatic moment when the Berlin Wall fell. In this captivating conversation, foot juggler Antje Pode shares her remarkable journey from a young gymnast in East Germany to an internationally acclaimed circus artist.Antje reveals the fascinating, rarely-discussed reality of the communist-era circus system, where performers were government employees with guaranteed lifetime positions. Selected from hundreds of applicants at age 17, she trained in the prestigious East German circus school before touring with the state circus. Her vivid descriptions transport us to a time when circus was considered high art, performers lived in caravans on flatbed train cars rolling through Russia, and elephants walked from train stations to circus lots as mobile advertisements. The political and personal merge dramatically as Antje recounts being thousands of miles from home in Moldova when the Berlin Wall unexpectedly fell in November 1989. Through her eyes, we experience both the hope and uncertainty of that pivotal moment in history, learning how the peaceful Monday demonstrations eventually led to revolution without violence.Beyond historical insights, Antje shares the technical mastery behind her extraordinary foot juggling act, where she manipulates suitcases with remarkable precision while balancing, spinning, and juggling simultaneously. Her description of needing three weeks to adapt to a new suitcase reveals the invisible precision required in circus arts.Whether you're fascinated by political history, circus traditions, or the dedication required for artistic mastery, this conversation offers a unique window into a world that has largely disappeared. Have you ever wondered what makes Bangladeshi cuisine distinctive in a world where "curry" often becomes the default descriptor for South Asian food? This week, we learn about the vibrant food culture of Bangladesh with Anika Chowdhury, food blogger and contestant from PBS's The Great American Recipe.(01:04) Anika shares her Bangladesh – "a country obsessed with food" – where she grew up surrounded by passionate food conversations and deeply seasonal cooking. Unlike our American supermarkets where ingredients appear year-round, Anika describes the special anticipation of waiting for tomatoes in winter or mangoes before monsoon season. (16:17) Anika is on a mission to showcase Bangladeshi cuisine beyond curry dishes. She explains how the simple techniques of her culinary heritage make seemingly complex flavors accessible to home cooks everywhere. As proof, she walks us through preparing tomato bhorta, a versatile dish perfect for summer's tomato bounty. Find more Bangladeshi dishes on Anika's blog, Kitchen Gatherings. (23:53) We also welcome Karen Hoang as our newest contributor! This Vietnamese-American transplant shares her journey from rarely dining out as a child of immigrants to becoming one of Pittsburgh's most enthusiastic food explorers. And she has the social media content to prove it. Support the showLiked the episode? We'd love a coffee!

As the old system is splitting apart, a few brave souls are already working to hospice this old system, acting as Death Doulas to the Great Dying—as well as helping people to awaken the seeds of a new world within. One of these is our guest this week. Sara McFarland is a Soul Initiation and Wild Mind Mentor and Guide, Artist of Consciousness and a Death Doula for the Great Dying. Their website says, 'I believe Earth is always moving towards transformation and renewal—to our eyes, it may look like rupture or being stuck, a dead end or a tragedy. And, like Earth, we are always Whole, regardless of the part we are currently stuck in. Resiliency is part of (our) nature. I do not offer the solution to your "problem" - what are often labeled problems, I understand as symptoms of disconnection from the Web of Life and the Trauma of Civilization. Both blessing and curse, they are the place where our gold is buried and shaped. I use all of the tools-physical, energetic and spiritual- I have learned and received, to support you towards wholeness and the building of inner resources in order to reduce your stress level, to learn to love yourself and to stand in your power. 'I came to know Sara earlier this year when I was invited onto the Starter Culture podcast. We talked for an hour and it felt like about 3 minutes and that we could have talked all day and not run out of avenues to explore, rabbit holes to excavate. Our conversation today took entirely different routes but was felt just as generative to me. Sara lives right at the emergent edge of the transformation of our world, helping to midwife the Soul Initiations of people who are called to ask them for help, and stepping into the Mystery at all its levels to act as a guide, mentor, healer in a world in transition. Many schools treat summer like the off-season. Parents don't.In this conversation, Dan Wyar (President of Rhodes Branding) and Ginny Kowalski (VP of Operations) share two very different enrollment journeys Ginny experienced as a parent this past summer. One school went quiet after enrollment. The other stayed connected with intentional touchpoints that built trust and confidence. The lessons are clear: summer is a critical stage of the enrollment journey. Every message, or every silence, shapes how families feel about your school. In this episode, we cover:Why silence creates friction for parentsHow consistent, intentional communication builds trustWhat K-12 schools can learn from higher ed's “yield phase”Practical ways to engage families between enrollment and the first day of schoolIf you're a district or school leader looking to improve enrollment and parent satisfaction, this conversation will help you see summer in a new light.

Enotoursim has been a staple in the tourism trade. One of my favorite podcast was with XXX Duput, the woman who delivered the wines from Napa to Steven Spurrier in Paris for the Judgement In Paris. She was the leading Enotourist company in America. As time would have it, Enotourism had seen its days, slumping a bit for the past decade...until now. Though wine sales are off and the wine industry is scurrying to define the cause of this slump, enotourism could save the day. Meet Bill Callejas, he is grassroots and has created an enotourism company from sheer passion. Bill Callejas didn't just stumble into wine tourism—he reverse-engineered it from the ground up, blending the precision of his production background with a storyteller's flair and an explorer's curiosity. You'll be hard pressed to find a more nuanced perspective on wine travel, or a more convincing case for ditching those cookie-cutter tours. In this episode, you'll discover the real difference between “just another wine trip” and a thoughtfully crafted, immersive journey that brings you shoulder-to-shoulder with winemakers, artisans, and even the family matriarch preparing your meal. Bill reveals how he and his partners built World Wine Destinations around the idea that travel and wine are each a world unto themselves—each deserving of respect, intention, and creative design. Listeners will learn how each trip is structured like a multi-day live show, full of distinct characters, rising action, and the slow burn of discovery that comes from tasting with local experts in quiet, off-the-map villages. Expect revelations on why genuine wine travel can't—and shouldn't—be “dumbed down,” why asking winemakers about their intention often leads to the best stories, and how wine acts as a cultural glue, binding food, land, history, and people in an experience you can literally taste. Whether it's the ancient amphorae of Greece, the wild terroir of Argentina, or the unexpected intimacy of Paso Robles, you'll come away with an appreciation for how travel, when done right, changes not just what's in your glass, but who you are as a drinker and a global citizen. Buckle up—one glass at a time, you'll learn how the story of wine is best lived, not just told. ✅ Think you know wine travel? Think again. ✅ Discover how storytelling and immersive experiences are redefining wine tourism. ✅ On this episode of Wine Talks, host Paul Kalemkiarian sits down with Bill Callejas of World Wine Destinations to reveal why their unique approach skips the cookie-cutter tours and takes you straight into the heart—and the culture—of the world's top wine regions. ✅ If you thought wine was just about tasting, you haven't heard the stories that bring each glass to life. Hit play and get ready to plan your next adventure (and maybe reimagine what a wine trip can be)!
