No longer a weekly comic book podcast by Chad Nevett and Tim Callahan. It ended with episode 50.
Tim Callahan and I are back for a holiday podcast. It's our special Christmas gift to all of you listeners. In this episode, we talk mostly about the best of 2011 with such topics as Holy Terror, some Marvel books like Daredevil, the Ultimates, and Uncanny X-Force, Scalped, Bendis's Avengers, Casanova: Avaritia, Vengeance, Tim's Alan Moore writing, and, then, we go into a long big talk about comics that touches on a variety of subjects before moving into books for the end. This episode is pretty much what you'd expect from us and was quite fun to do. Since it is a holiday episode, it's bookended by a couple of songs from the Barenaked Ladies's holiday album. So, download, listen, and enjoy -- and have a happy holidays!
This is the last episode of the Splash Page Podcast. In this episode, Tim and I discuss: some last episode random talk, Thor: Worldengine and Ultimate Comics Thor, Flashpoint #1, Daredevil: Reborn and Andy Diggle, Journey into Mystery #623, iZombie #12, some more random talk, New Avengers #12, Wanted, Batman, Incorporated #6, some more random talk, Irredeemable, and we end with the LIGHTNING ROUND! And, harkening back to our first episode, there's no "We're Hardcore" this time, because, obviously, we're not hardcore anymore. Instead, you get a new bit of intro music, some intro music to the lightning round, and something to exit by. So, for the final time, download, listen, and enjoy! (Also, clicking on the 'I want more!' button at this stage is nice, but... it's over and done, folks.)
In this week's episode, we have a special treat as the one and only Joe Casey joins us. After many technical difficulties, we got things recording and proceeded to talk at length about many, many topics. Hopefully, we don't talk over one another too much. Among the things discussed: Intros, Butcher Baker, writing corporate characters, Adventures of Superman, Uncanny X-Men, Final Crisis Aftermath: Dance, the craft, the internet and the audience, writing mini-series for Marvel and DC as ongoings, compression/decompression, the work and the reader, Gødland and sticking the ending, frustrations from cancellations, Wildstorm, blowback from interviews, passion for comics, comics vs. TV, actual talk about Butcher Baker, writing about comics, Dreadstar, more writing about comics but in a different way, classic comics, current comics, recapturing old comics, comics Casey is digging right now, too much talk about Doc Savage, Joe Casey thinks this podcast is too long, and one final teaser for an upcoming work. And it all begins, as usual, with "We're Hardcore" by Gord Downie. So, download, listen, and enjoy!
