It's been nearly a year since the release of Superman, so what better time to catch up with Ma Kent herself, Neva Howell? In this special Between Takes episode of Missing Frames, Neva returns to the show to reflect on the whirlwind year following Superman's release, including the heartfelt reactions from fans who embraced her warm, grounded portrayal of Martha Kent. She shares stories about meeting Superman fans from across the country, discusses some of the comics and Superman stories she's been exploring lately, and opens up about what it's been like becoming part of one of pop culture's most beloved mythologies.Shawn and Neva also revisit some of the film's most emotional moments, including her and Pruitt Taylor Vince's (Pa Kent) reactions to the film's powerful final scene and why the Kent family dynamic resonated so deeply with audiences. They also discuss Neva's recent appearances on 9-1-1: Nashville, her upcoming film projects, and her excitement about attending this year's Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois. Naturally, Shawn and Neva also look ahead to the future of the DCU, including their excitement for projects like Supergirl and Lanterns. (As for Clayface… Neva may be sitting that one out.)And yes, Shawn does his best “Lois Lane investigative journalist” impression while trying to uncover whether Ma and Pa Kent might return for James Gunn's upcoming Superman sequel, Superman: Man of Tomorrow.Neva's official response?“Fingers crossed.”

Lots of strange, unusual folks out here that you need to know about.Since we are putzing around with the Punisher, the most logical solution would be to talk about the LOBO BROTHERS, two brothers who are both high-class drug dealers AND mutant werewolves. Frank was once almost mind-controlled to assassinate them for the Kingpin but it didn't go well. Regardless, the brothers have some intriguing aspects about them, particularly the whole mutant lycanthropy deal that isn't entirely mutant but also mystical in some ways. We also spend some time on a few extremely tertiary Kingpin associates that find themselves jobbing pretty hard to Frank and Kingpin himself.Promo: CHECKERED PAST (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/checkered-past/id1350233450)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / BlueSky / Threads via @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield and email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. Mereida shares how The Dark Knight first got her into comics, and the critical education decision that saw her follow her passion rather than what was expected of her by others. A listener asks whether some words are inherently funnier than others—and it opens the door to a deep dive on word choice, dialogue, and how to make jokes land harder. Brad and Dave break down why shorter, punchier words tend to win, how sound and rhythm affect comedy, and why you should always end on the funniest word. They also walk through their real-world writing process—cutting aggressively, reading dialogue out loud, and constantly swapping in better word choices. From there, the conversation expands into how to write strong dialogue (hint: it's not about realism—it's about impact), plus a list of pitfalls to avoid, including gimmicky accents, overstuffed word balloons, and writing that slows the reader down. They also revisit a past take on political cartoons (turns out, they're thriving on Reddit), talk about the return of Web 1.0 strategies like guest comics, and reinforce a core principle: own your platform and your audience. TODAY'S SHOW • Writing funny words: Why word choice makes or breaks a joke • Psychologist vs. psychiatrist — choosing the funnier word (it's "shrink") • How to edit your way to stronger, tighter dialogue • Dialogue pitfalls: accents, gimmicks, and readability traps • Political cartoons are thriving on Reddit (and what that means) • The return of Web 1.0 tactics: Guest comics and cross-promotion • Reclaiming your platform: Why websites still matter You get great rewards when you join the ComicLab Community on Patreon$2 — Early access to episodes$5 — Submit a question for possible use on the show AND get the exclusive ProTips podcast. This completes our full tour of the Runnings Man, as we previously reviewed the original Running Man novel from 1982 and the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger Running Man. There are no more men to run. Also look at the difference in mood between the 1987 ending credits and the 2025 ending credits. Daniel Kibblesmith joins for the first time to talk about his journey in comics and the upcoming Lilo & Stitch: 626 anthology. Learn more about Daniel at http://www.kibblesmith.com From Dynamite: Lilo & Stitch: 626 is a three-issue series that will bookend 626 Day with releases in May, June, and July. The fabulous first issue features two stories showcasing the joy of the character and his colorful cast. Jet-setting Jeff Eckleberry handles lettering throughout the book. Critically acclaimed wordsmith Daniel Kibblesmith, following from his fan-favorite run with Darkwing Duck, takes on the little mischief alongside artist Elisa Pochetta. The pair unveil for the first time to fans the secret origin of Agent Cobra Bubbles — or at least Lilo's interpretation of it! Then, another Disney X Dynamite legend in the making takes on the second story, as George Kambadais writes and draws a tale of Captain Gantu stranded on an Old West-styled planet all by himself, surrounded by dangerous criminals from his past! Subsequent issues will turn the spotlight to other beloved members of the cast like Nani, Jumba, Pleakley, David, Mertle, and more. An equally expansive roster of talented writers and artists will be featured in the next two releases, including Moana McAdams, Chuck Brown (Disney Villains: Scar, Bitter Root), Jeff Parker (Negaduck, Thunderbolts), Edwin Galmon (The LionKing, Mister Terrific), Miriana Puglia, Emiliana Pinna, and Giulia Giacomino. In this week's episode of *The Marvelists Presents: Catholic Guilt – A Daredevil: Born Again Podcast*, hosts **Peter Melnick** and **Eddie Wilson** dive headfirst into Episode 7 of Season 2, where the tension is high, the fists are flying, and Matt Murdock's moral compass is spinning like it just went twelve rounds in Hell's Kitchen. Joining them as guest co-host is comic book veteran **Chris Ryall**, former Editor-in-Chief of IDW Publishing and a longtime creative voice in the world of *Daredevil*. Chris also authored a book on *Daredevil: Born Again* as part of the *Marvel Age of Comics* line, focusing on the classic 1980s comic storyline and its lasting impact on the character. With that background, he brings a sharp, insider perspective to the discussion—breaking down the episode's themes, character beats, and how this latest chapter compares to Daredevil's most defining moments in comics history. Together, Peter, Eddie, and Chris unpack the episode's biggest reveals, dig into the ever-present themes of guilt and redemption, and speculate on what's next for the Man Without Fear. As always, Matt's struggle between justice and faith takes center stage—and let's just say, things aren't getting any easier for him. And yes—before you ask—the podcast is once again temporarily without a theme song. At this point, it's less of a glitch and more of a tradition. Honestly, the silence at the beginning might be the most consistent thing about the show. All that and more on this week's episode—no confession booth required… but you may want to say a few Hail Marys anyway.

Journey with us to the early days of the concept called a mini-series. With four issues, writers and artists had the opportunity to explore characters and concepts that might not easily fit into an ongoing monthly title. For example, our choice for this month's book club is Hercules, the 1982 series from creator Bob Layton and Marvel Comics. Taking place some time in the future, Hercules is sent to space by his father, Zeus, to find humility. He may not find the humility, but he does save a kidnapped maiden, protect a planet from going missing, and drops some drugs into Galactus's wine glass. Sounds like a good read to us! Joining us for the book club this month is friend-of-the-podcast Don Leibold. If you haven't joined already, take a look at Don's group on Facebook, The Comic Book Panel.  Stick around to the very end to find out about next month's selection for WCPE Book Club.
