Details about Johansson's potential role are being closely guarded, though speculation has already run rampant about which iconic Batman character she might portray, though being a new love interest for Bruce Wayne in some capacity is a popular guess in the wake of unconfirmed reports that Zoe Kravitz might not reprise her role in the sequel.More than seven years after its original theatrical run, Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame, the second-highest-grossing film of all time, back to theaters September 25, 2026 just months before Avengers: Doomsday later that December. This comes more than four years after Season 2 finished in February 2022.Hulu has renewed the Glen Powell led sports comedy series Chad Powers for a second season.20th Century Studios announced The Simpsons Movie 2 has been delayed from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027. Paramount and Blumhouse are reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise and bringing on James Wan to produce a new feature film in the franchise according to the Hollywood Reporter. Variety and CNN have revealed the star-studded lineup for the 23rd season of Actors on Actors. Some of the participants include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson, Julia Roberts, and Ariana Grande. Sony Pictures has tapped Bad Boys For Life writer Chris Bremner to pen a new Men In Black film. Although plot details are not public, sources tell Deadline that when the script is complete, original series star Will Smith will be the first to read it in hopes that he will return to the franchise in some capacity. Prime Video has released the first trailer for the final season of The Boys. The show has an updated release date of April 8, 2026, which will see the release of two episodes. Episodes will then drop weekly, leading to the series finale on May 20th. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opened to $109 million dollars worldwide over the weekend, a strong opening for the franchise. Additionally, last weekend's champion Zootopia 2 is nearing the one billion dollar mark with  $915 million dollars worldwide so far. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on as writer and executive producer.

On today's episode, I talk to comics writer Brian Michael Bendis. Originally from Cleveland, OH, Brian knew from an early age he wanted to make comics. His late teens and twenties were spent making his own comics, some of them published by Caliber Press, and in 1996, a lot of this work was collected together at Image. This led to working on the Spawn spin-off Sam and Twitch, and in 1998, he began releasing Powers, which would go on to garner both critical and commercial success, as well as Harvey and Eisner Awards. In 2000, Brian co-created Miles Morales when he began writing Ultimate Spider-Man. The next year, Brian began a defining run on Daredevil and co-created Jessica Jones with the start of Alias. And this is essentially just the first decade of his career! Since then, he went on to write defining runs on comics like Avengers and New Avengers, events like House of M, books like Superman and Action Comics for DC, and most recently, for the 25th anniversary of Powers, Brian and artist Michael Avon Oeming are creating a new 12-issue series at Dark Horse, and it's great! How about: Trying to figure out how many times Stephe has broken his nose Cooking with the boys Funko financials Gamestop's trade in day But we spent the majority of the podcast on what can only be considered a fools' errand. We both watched and discussed the 2018 Lifetime Christmas movie, The Christmas Contract. It was filmed in and around Lafayette, Louisiana so we thought we would be okay. Oh, the things we do for this show. We ended things with a rousing round of "What's on Your Desk?" But it just wasn't enough to get rid of the Lifetime stench.

It's another Avengers novel, this one written not only be someone who had read Avengers comics but even wrote them!  David Michelinie, who wrote some great Avengers comics, gives us a longer and much more interesting novel, that doesn't quite gel, but has some great scenes and some ideas I wish had been explored more.

In this episode of The Filmumentaries Podcast, I speak with art director and supervising art director Dominic Masters, whose decades-long career spans some of the biggest films and series of the last 40 years. He grew up around movie sets thanks to his father, the legendary production designer Tony Masters (2001: A Space Odyssey, Papillon, Dune), and started his own journey at 19 when he spent eight months in China on Tai-Pan — the first Western movie ever shot there. Dom talks about learning the foundational skills of drafting, the early struggles of finding work in the British film industry of the mid-80s, and the unique lifestyle of moving from production to production — that strange micro-community that forms on set, often in far-flung locations.  We cover his experiences on Titanic working under James Cameron, the shift from physical sets to set extensions and digital workflows, the evolution of the art department, and how shows like House of the Dragon demand an enormous level of coordination, creativity and technical precision. We also talk about the British Film Designers Guild, the camaraderie that forms in the art department, and his personal creative outlets, photography and music, that keep him balanced between jobs.  It's a wide-ranging, honest conversation with someone who has seen the industry evolve from the studio backlots of the 1970s to enormous contemporary productions.
