The Kingdom of God has come near to us. This is not a cute phrase but a powerful reality that Jesus left for His disciples to teach & demonstrate until He returns.

{historically, traditionally, culturally, and ecclesiastically} Christmas is a time of great expectation. But something that is often overlooked is the fact that Christmas reminds not just in December, but everyday of the year -- that since God is with us, we can be EXPECTANT for the miraculous among us. Which means that even though December has come and gone, the power of Christ remains with us.

Moments before the events of the cross unfolded, Jesus took His disciples to a special place and it was in that special place, that He gave a command in the form of an invitation -- WATCH WITH ME.

Moments before He was betrayed, arrested, falsely accused, beaten, and crucified -- Jesus was in a garden, praying. And it was in this place and at this time and in these circumstances , that He gave one of His last invitations to us all, 'Watch with Me'.

One of the most awesome invitations in Scripture is found in James 4:8 'Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you'. There are no pre-conditions. No requirements. No pre-requisites. There is just the invitation to all of us -- to draw near to God... and the invitation comes with a promise that when we do, He draws near to us. Meaning that God responds to us by our response to Him. {Because of this} We are looking at and learning how to DRAW NEAR to God in unconventional/uncommon, yet practical/tangible ways by studying the Early Church in Acts 2.

This week, Pastor Clint Sprague of Life Mission Church in Kansas City joins us at Venue Church to bring a timely message on the mission and mandate that all of us have to GO!

A special message to the Fathers, but for all of us. Psalm 127 3-5a says 'Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.'
We live IN THE MIDST OF a complaining culture, that literally searches for things to complain about. All of the complaining is exhausting and depleting people everywhere of joy, hope, and peace. Despite living IN THE MIDST OF such a culture, the people of God are commanded to not grumble, but give gratitude

The world continues to fall apart, and God continues to look for someONE {just one}, to Take a STAND before Him on behalf of people everywhere.
One of the indisputable realities that every person is born with, is the reality of straining to achieve fulfillment & reaching for significance. Because of this, many of us live and spend our lives going nowhere and reaching nothing -- but because Jesus, we no longer have to live this way. Happy Easter from Venue Church.
There is a lot of talk about revival within the Church but something we need to understand is that our desire to see our city restored to God is directly proportioned to OUR desire to seek God for our city. All around us, the condition of our cities and the lives of the people in our cities -- are IN GREAT TROUBLE, and God is looking for a Nehemiah in our day, who will respond like Nehemiah in his day. Because of this, for the next 21 days, we will weep & mourn, pray & fast.

In the last book of the Old Testament {Malachi}, God reminds His people of a great principal of His, that carries with it a great promise from Him. A promise that all of us want HAVE, but a principal that few of us want to HEAR. Knowing our human proclivity to remove ourselves from this principal, God issues a promise to us and says 'SEE IF I WONT...'; which isn't a threat, but an invitation.
