As we close out the month, Jenna and Beth are slowing down for a conversation about rest, abiding, and remaining close to Jesus in every season. So many of us live exhausted spiritually, emotionally, and physically - and yet the Heart of Christ continues to invite us into peace, trust, and communion with Him.We'll also share a vision for Abide and where Blessed is She is heading in this next season of formation and community. Come ready to exhale, pray, and remember that you do not have to carry everything alone.Reflection Questions:What keeps me from truly resting with God?What might change if I believed Jesus was already holding what I'm trying to control?

Share a commentThe most unsettling line in Romans 7 is also one of the most freeing: “O wretched man that I am.” We sit with Paul's confession and argue that the war within is not proof you are failing at the Christian life, but often proof you are waking up to the holiness of God and the stubbornness of the flesh. The goal is not to pretend the fight is over, but to learn how to fight it honestly without despair. Along the way, we cut through a few popular escape routes. We talk about how knowing the right thing doesn't automatically produce doing the right thing, why chasing a dramatic spiritual experience or “second blessing” can become a distraction, and why blaming every sin on the devil or a named “demon” quietly trains us to avoid responsibility. Romans 7 never shifts the blame outward, and neither can we. Then we turn toward hope that is sturdier than hype. We unpack Paul's “body of death” language, why it feels so heavy, and why the answer is not self-improvement but Jesus Christ, who delivers us from the penalty of sin, strengthens us in daily dependence, and will one day remove sin's presence entirely. We connect it to Jesus' words about being poor in spirit and to the tax collector's prayer, “God, be merciful to me,” as the posture that actually leads to life. If you've ever felt both sorrow over sin and gratitude for grace at the same time, this conversation puts words to that tension and points you to a faithful path forward. It's Tuesday, June 23rd, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Pray for Leah Sharibu's release in Nigeria Eight years after 14-year-old Leah Sharibu was kidnapped by Islamic extremists, along with 109 others from a girls' school in Nigeria's Yobe State on February 19, 2018, she is the only remaining captive. Evangelical Focus reports that Leah, now age 22, refused her captors' demands to deny Christ and convert to Islam in order to be released after the attack by Islamic State West Africa Province on the Government Girls' Science and Technical College in Dapchi. Most of the other kidnapped girls have been released, with some dying in captivity. Leah's parents, Nathan and Rebecca Sharibu, said that she has chosen to remain true to Christ at great cost. In their words: “For this courage, she has endured unimaginable hardship in the wilderness. Reports from those who escaped speak of forced marriage, repeated trauma, childbirths in captivity, and the constant shadow of sexual violence used as a weapon of war and control.” Please pray for Leah's freedom from captivity. Brazilian homeschoolers sentenced to 50 days in prison Brazilian parents Audato and Ieda Denardi have been sentenced to 50 days in prison for homeschooling their daughters. The Christian parents were convicted of “intellectual neglect” because the judge said their program failed to include lessons on “gender and sex education” and “tolerance and diversity.” The Denardis are appealing their case to a higher court. The mother told Alliance Defending Freedom, “As a mother, I cannot conceive a more dictatorial state than the one that wants me in jail because I chose to exercise my right to direct the education and upbringing of my daughters.” Over 70,000 children are being homeschooled in Brazil today. Trump-endorsed Columbian conservative wins presidency Colombian right-wing politician Abelardo de la Espriella won the Columbian presidential runoff on Sunday. He garnered 49.6% of the vote compared to leftist Iván Cepeda who took 48.7% of the vote. De la Espriella was endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump and promised to take his country in a more conservative direction. Connecticut liberals require homeschoolers to seek state permission The state of Connecticut is doing its part to keep parents from teaching their own children. The Connecticut Legislature passed House Bill 5468, a bill requiring parents to receive permission from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families in order to homeschool. Regrettably, Democrat Governor Ned Lamont signed the restrictive bill into law. Attorney Kevin Boden of the Home School Legal Defense Association said, “This profound shift transforms Connecticut from a state where parents had significant freedom to the only state that imposes mandatory background checks on fit parents before they can teach their own children in their own home. By requiring every parent to be pre-screened before they can begin homeschooling, it ceases to acknowledge parents as trusted actors and instead casts them as risks to be managed.” American farmers in trouble American agriculture is in crisis. Since 2020, the United States has lost almost 150,000 farms and 21 million acres. Bankruptcies were up 50% year-to-year between 2024 and 2025, according to the State of the American Farmer Report, 2026. Only about half of farmers expect to be profitable this year. And 60% of farmers believe that farming as we know it today will cease to exist without a course correction. Plus, the U.S. cattle herd is at a 75-year low -- roughly one-quarter cow per person today vs. one-half a cow per person 40 years ago. Deuteronomy 28:1-4 reminds us of God's blessings upon nations: “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the Earth. “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: ‘Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground, and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle, and the offspring of your flocks.'” Franklin Graham: Ebola outbreak in Congo much worse Evangelist Franklin Graham is calling for prayers as the most recent Ebola outbreak continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The first symptoms are usually fever, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches. These are usually followed by vomiting, diarrhea, and renal dysfunction, at which point some people begin to bleed both internally and externally. Outbreaks of the disease have had a mortality rate of between 25% and 90%, averaging 50%. According to Graham, “We believe the Ebola outbreak is much worse than we initially thought. We think it's spread much more because it went undetected for several weeks, and it's very difficult.” Graham added, “We need prayer. Our 70 staff members, they're there for a month or so and then [we] rotate them out and then they get a new team in. This is complicated because the borders are closed between [Congo] and Uganda. If you come back into the United States from [Congo], you could be quarantined and so forth. It's not easy. … We just ask people to pray and that God would continue to guide and direct us.” Fewer women are attending church Women are leaving the Christian church. Barna.com reports the largest gender gap in recorded history — with only 36% of women attending church compared to 43% of men. The gender gap at the beginning of the 21st century was 50% women attending and only 37% of men. The reversal dates back to 2018. Married dads now lead the charge with 41% attending church in the last week. By contrast, only 30% of married moms attended church in the last week and only 24% of single moms. Witchcraft-themed shows on the rise And finally, NARRATOR: “Once the world was full of wonders, but it belongs to humans now. We have all but disappeared: demons, vampires, and witches hiding in plain sight.” Witchcraft is dominating in the media today — with at least 20 witchcraft-themed shows emerging in the 2020s, and over 50 shows that incorporate occasional witchcraft themes. Examples include: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the Charmed reboot, A Discovery of Witches, Mayfair Witches, Agatha All Along, The Owl House, Fate: The Winx Saga, The Worst Witch, The Bureau of Magical Things, Motherland: Fort Salem, and The Witcher. Witchcraft communes and retreats are on the rise, reports The Guardian. Women are seeking more avenues for power in the rising age of what they call “patriarchy.” Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns, “There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, June 23rd, in the year of our Lord 2026. Christopher Coffman Matthew 5:5 This week we unpack what Jesus actually meant by meekness — not timidity or passivity, but the humble, God-trusting strength we see in Moses and most fully in Jesus. And the surprising good news is that meekness isn't something we manufacture on our own — it grows in us as we come to Jesus and learn from him.
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Michael Stockham, author of the book Jake Fox: Ties That Bind. Michael is the the author of the award-winning, best-selling novel Confessions of an Accidental Lawyer. He has worked as a big-firm trial lawyer for over two decades after receiving his law degree from Cornell. He is a sought-after litigator and speaker. Blessed by two grown daughters who are Clemson Tigers, he lives in Dallas with his wife of twenty-four years, Kiersten, along with three dogs and two potbelly pigs. In my book review, I stated Jake Fox: Ties That Blind is a legal thriller by Michael Stockham. This book is fast-paced and will keep you guessing. Jake Fox was once a big-city lawyer, but due to personal issues, has chosen to work in the small town where he grew up. His hope? That he can just exist and heal. Instead, he finds himself at the center of a murder case in which the life of a young teen, Rose, hangs in the balance. Like all towns everywhere, what you see at first isn't the whole story. And as Jake soon learns, there is far more going on in this sleepy little town that he would have ever thought - and the deception runs wide and deep. Everyone is suspect and no one is safe. But Michael doesn't just concentrate on the action. He also delivers amazing characters who are far more than stereotypical - and their viewpoints help the reader see all sides of the issues at play. This is an interesting read. In this message from The Beatitudes, Caleb Cole teaches from Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” A pure heart is not a perfect heart, but an undivided heart surrendered to God. Through Scripture, Caleb challenges us to examine our speech, money, thoughts, actions, and eyes, and to ask Jesus for a new heart that can truly see and experience God. Many people pray for money. But God is often more concerned with your character than your bank account. Before He entrusts influence, wealth, or greater responsibility, He tests the root system. Will you obey when nobody is watching? Will you seek Him when it's inconvenient? Will you fast? Will you wake up early? Will you live like you actually believe what you say? Consecration changes your identity. It changes how you think. Learn to rest in Him while He builds the root system necessary to sustain the blessing. Because before God gives you mammon, influence, or territory, He first builds a man who won't bow when tested. "My God is able to deliver me, but even if He does not, I will not bow." Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. To see more, be sure to subscribe to the podcast at

13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.151 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.8 For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, 9 and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. 1."Annoyance is the price you pay for community." Do you think that's an accurate statement? How do you personally navigate that tension? 2.Paul tells the strong to restrain their freedom for the sake of a tender brother or sister, even when they're right. Is there an area where you've had to hold a freedom loosely for someone else's sake? What did that cost you? 3.RC Sproul called it "the tyranny of the weaker brother" when someone tries to make their personal conviction everyone else's law. Have you seen that happen — or done it yourself? What does it look like when a disputable matter gets treated as indisputable? 4.It seems there can be a tension between living out the kingdom of God vs having the modern optimized, maximized life. Do you see that tension in your life and if so, where?5.Mrs. Leonard's whisper — "I wish you were my little girl" — is offered as a picture of what it feels like to really be welcomed by Jesus. Have you experienced Jesus' welcome? When/how?6.How can the gospel make you and our community more welcoming?
Blessed Are Those Who Mourn: Finding God's Comfort on Father's DayOn Father's Day, Jeremy honors dads, grandfathers, mentors, coaches, and teachers who show up, while acknowledging the day can be painful for those grieving absent, distant, or deceased fathers. Teaching from Matthew 5:4 (“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”), he contrasts a culture of distraction with Jesus' invitation to face pain honestly, noting that unprocessed grief resurfaces in anger, bitterness, isolation, and strained relationships. He explains the Greek word “pentheo” as deep lament over loss and the world's brokenness, and points to Jesus weeping at Lazarus' tomb as proof faith and tears coexist. Using Ecclesiastes 3 and Nehemiah's tears before rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, he urges lament, especially among men, as courageous honesty that leads to healing, comfort, and purposeful leadership, ending with Psalm 34:18 and a prayer for comfort and restoration.00:00 Fathers Day Welcome00:55 When Celebration Hurts02:08 Blessed Are Those Who Mourn05:19 What Mourning Really Means08:28 Jesus Wept With Us14:10 Redefining Strength For Men17:54 Seasons Of Grief19:31 Nehemiah Tears To Purpose23:07 Lament Over Distraction27:22 Comfort And A Way Forward30:36 Prayer And Closing

Send us Fan MailIn this Episode, Pastor Dom challenges us to live like Jesus!Ephesians 6:1717 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;Colossians 3:12-1712 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, Do not lie to one another, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.Ephesians 5:1-21 Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.Psalm 103:2-32 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,1 Peter 2:2424 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.1 Corinthians 11:23-2523 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
This week, Jesus says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” In a world broken by sin and death, mourning is real. But Jesus does not leave His people with grief as the final word. In this Church on the Move Roswell message, Pastor Troy continues the theme of being “blessed on purpose for a purpose,” urging listeners to live consistently in a way that pleases God through faith and daily obedience. He teaches that God blesses people so His rescue plan can reach others, highlighting Genesis 12:1–3, Galatians 3:8, and Deuteronomy 4:6–9 to show God's long-standing plan to bless families and nations through His people. He encourages believers to use their gifts, leadership, encouragement, time, and resources for others without comparison, envy, or jealousy, and to intentionally “take the lid off” their lives by giving more. He shares the church's outreach to Mexico, the Middle East, and a desire to impact nearby Native nations.
The Blessed Life According to the Son, Pt. 1Blessed are the Empty and BrokenMatthew 4:17, 23-25; 5:1-4 | King's Chapel Live StreamEveryone wants the blessed life.We pursue happiness, success, comfort, and fulfillment, believing that these things will finally satisfy us. Yet Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount with a surprising declaration. The truly blessed are not the self-sufficient, the powerful, or the accomplished. The truly blessed are the poor in spirit and those who mourn. In this message, we begin a new journey through the Sermon on the Mount by exploring the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus came proclaiming the Kingdom, demonstrating its power, and calling people everywhere to repent and believe. The blessed life begins when we recognize our spiritual poverty before God. It begins when we stop trusting in ourselves and cling to Christ alone. It continues as we mourn over our sin and the brokenness of this fallen world, trusting in God's promise that His people will be comforted. The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who know they need a Savior. If you are weary, burdened, broken, or searching for lasting hope, this message reminds us that true blessing is not found in self-sufficiency but in surrender to King Jesus.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL - ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborSermon on the Mount sermon, Matthew 5 sermon, Beatitudes explained, blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are those who mourn, Kingdom of Heaven sermon, gospel of the kingdom, Christian hope and comfort, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Jesus Sermon on the Mount

For twenty-eight years he lived the ascetical life on Mt Athos as a disciple of St Gregory of Mt Sinai. Later, he founded the monastery of St Mamas, also on Mt Athos. In 1350 he was elected Patriarch of Constantinople. After four years, he resigned the patriarchal throne to return to the Holy Mountain, but was called back to the throne, where he remained until his death in 1363. He wrote the definitive lives of St Gregory the Sinaite and St Theodosius of Trnovo. He was known to St Maximos Kapsokalyvia (the Hut-burner), who foretold his death: On his final journey to Serbia, on which he died, the Patriarch stopped on Mt Athos, where St Maximos saw him and said, "This elder will not see his flock again, because I hear behind him the hymn over the grave, 'Blessed are those that are undefiled in the way...'"
Adam Henig is a prolific author whose latest book, Baseball's Outcast: The Story of Ron LeFlore, takes a fascinating look at the life of Ron LeFlore. His journey from the prison leagues to the Major Leagues sounds fictional, but it is absolutely true. Adam shares the remarkable story of Ron's life and career. Blessed with blazing speed and a powerful swing, Ron traded his prison uniform for a baseball uniform and became a dynamic offensive player and dangerous base stealer during the latter half of the 1970s. In Baseball's Outcast, Adam traces LeFlore's family roots, explores the segregated world in which he was raised, examines the criminal justice system he encountered, and reveals how childhood trauma shaped both his success and his downfall. Filled with insights from Ron himself, as well as former teammates, coaches, front-office personnel, inmates, childhood friends, and relatives, the book provides unprecedented access to Ron's life story and the obstacles he faced every step of the way. A lover of the outdoors, especially barbecue, Marvin has invented several products and holds numerous patents. For years, traditional grill brushes were among the most popular ways to clean a grill, but they came with some drawbacks. Marvin, as we like to say, has created a "better mousetrap." GrillFighter is an innovative and efficient grill-cleaning tool that utilizes Marvin's patented technology. Instead of brass bristles, it uses chainmail for scrubbing along with a food-safe silicone block that helps steam-clean the grill surface. Read OnlineJesus said to his disciples: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” Matthew 6:19–21Today's Gospel is one that many find difficult to take literally. It is common for people to dream of wealth and material possessions. In an attempt to reconcile our Lord's teachings with their desires, they might justify the pursuit of riches by promising to be generous with the poor. But what is the ideal we should strive for? Jesus' exhortation is clear: The treasures of this world—money, possessions, power—are fleeting. They are subject to decay, theft, and loss. In contrast, spiritual treasures—virtues, good works, acts of charity, and growth in holiness—are eternal. Recall Luke's version of the Beatitudes, in which Jesus plainly states, “Blessed are you who are poor…” (Luke 6:20). Was Jesus speaking metaphorically, or does literal poverty bestow great blessedness? In Matthew's Gospel, Jesus is recorded slightly differently: “Blessed are the poor in spirit…” (Matthew 5:3). By adding “in spirit,” He emphasizes an interior disposition of detachment from worldly goods. He calls us to be free from the attachments that hinder our union with Him. However, we must be cautious not to assume that we can possess or desire great wealth and remain truly “poor in spirit.” While some are called to use material goods wisely, in accord with God's will, the Gospel ideal is a simplicity of life that fosters detachment from material security. One reason this teaching is difficult to embrace is that material comforts provide a false sense of security. We often find satisfaction in abundance, yet struggle to believe that a life of simplicity and detachment could bring even greater joy. Jesus does not call us to destitution but to a life free from excessive attachment to wealth, where our true security rests in God. Imagine winning an all-expenses-paid trip to the most luxurious resort in the world, offering unparalleled comfort and experiences. Such a prize would naturally seem desirable, even fulfilling. But Jesus' teaching today reminds us that no earthly luxury can compare to the eternal riches of Heaven. The question remains: where do we set our hearts? If we place our ultimate hope in worldly goods, our vision will be darkened, preventing us from seeing the greater good that awaits. But if we seek first the Kingdom of God, our hearts will be filled with His light, guiding us to treasures that will never fade. Though material things are not evil in themselves, Jesus desires that our hearts be properly ordered toward the greater good. He does not condemn wealth itself but warns against its dangers when it becomes an obstacle to spiritual growth. Recall that Jesus did not say it was impossible for the rich to enter His Kingdom, but that it was difficult (cf. Matthew 19:23–24; Mark 10:25). The challenge lies in the attachments wealth creates, fostering a false sense of security and self-sufficiency rather than reliance on God. For this reason, there is great wisdom in choosing the easier path—not only the path to Heaven but also the path to abundant riches in Heaven. That path is one of intentional simplicity, freely embracing a life detached from material excess, so that our desires are purified and freed from worldly temptations. This call to detachment is not only for those who are wealthy but also for those who have little, yet remain consumed by an insatiable longing for more.Reflect today on the profound spiritual truth that when we embrace simplicity—both outwardly and inwardly—we cultivate a deeper trust in God's providence and find our true wealth in His grace. Such spiritual wealth will remain with us for eternity. Choosing it is an act of divine wisdom, leading to eternal rewards beyond imagination, where neither moth nor decay can touch the treasures we store in Heaven. Lord of all riches, You bestow upon the poor and humble treasures beyond imagination. Please free me from inordinate desires for worldly wealth, and set my heart on the true riches of Heaven. Grant me the grace to be disciplined in my possessions and, even more so, in my heart, so that I may desire You and Your will above all else.
