In this week's sermon we address the "A" in DRAW Near as we learn how to "Ask" in prayer. We do this by looking at 1 Timothy 2:1-4 as it shows us how to make requests for ourselves as well as others. We often tend to go to one extreme or the other when it comes to requests in prayer: we only ask, or we feel that asking is selfish and don't do it. However, asking is a part of Jesus' demonstration for how we are to pray, we just need to know how to go about it properly. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! Intimacy with Jesus isn't reserved for the spiritually polished—it's an open invitation, already within reach, and woven into our ordinary moments. In today's podcast, Stasi and Amber Sales—of the Wild at Heart team—reflect on what it means to cultivate intimacy with Jesus over time: trusting Him with our loneliness, our shame, and our longing to be truly known. He is already nearer than our breath, already delighting over us, and as we draw near to him, he draws near to us.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV) – Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.James 4:8 (NIV) – Come near to God and he will come near to you.Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV) – The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.Romans 2:4 (NIV) – Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? …..RESOURCESThe Ladder of Love Retreat — October 1–4, 2026 in Fraser, Colorado. Pastor Josh looks at 1 Samuel 2:1-11 in our sermon series, Draw Near.
we are now moving forward in Christian maturity understanding how to speak the truth and love and it's difficulties. our human nature doesn't like confrontation but the Bible because God is love, he confronts his children as a good parent would. The holy Spirit in the word of God commands us to speak truth and love and we do not get the choice, we just must have the courage to do so. it's hard to love someone who is wrong but since Jesus has no respect or person again we are commanded to. is it hard of course but think of the alternative if Jesus died so that we can buy faith move mountains and become more than a conqueror why do we make excuses for not maturing in Christ?
As we continue our sermon series "Draw Near," we take this week to look at prayer when we don't know what to pray for, what to say, or how to say it. Romans 8:26-27 shows us that the Holy Spirit shows us how to pray when we don't know how. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! We're also available on Youtube. Real ministry is not built on polished content... it is built when we are willing to share our very selves. In this roadside reflection episode, Kara finally shares what Fred and her recent writing project has been (with Ascension Press) and reflects on a personal passage from St. Paul in 1 Thessalonians 2:8–9: “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves…” This conversation dives into vulnerability, discipleship, authentic ministry, loving others even when it is difficult, and what it means to hope for others. Also, the audio quality is a little different this episode. Life and family obligations have made studio recording difficult lately, so I pray this “roadside reflections” is okay! Posturing our lives with an emphasis on appeasing God through behaviors is heavy. But Jesus says His burden is easy and light.QUESTIONS FOR THE ROADDo you consider yourself a rule-follower or a rule-breaker? How does this affect the way you relate with God?What does it look like for you practically to live in relationship with God that views God's Grace as an unmerited gift, that you don't have to strive to earn?As a daily pursuit of a closer relationship with God, in what ways can you Draw Near to God?
WWG Part 315 | Draw Near to God and Encourage One Another
In Exodus 19, Pastor Jared Richard unpacks what he calls the "proposal of God" — a breathtaking invitation for God's rescued people to enter into covenant relationship with Him and become His treasured possession. Just as God reminded Israel in Exodus 19:4, "You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself," the foundation of this relationship is not human effort but divine grace. Salvation came before the law, and obedience was never meant to earn God's favor — it was meant to express love in response to the love already freely given. Yet the second half of the chapter reveals a sobering problem. Even after consecrating themselves and washing their garments, the people still could not draw near to the mountain of God's glory without risking death. The holiness gap between God and His people was real, and no amount of preparation could fully close it. This tension, Pastor Jared argues, is not just Israel's problem — it is ours as well. The answer to that problem is not found at Sinai but at Calvary. Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled the law, perfectly revealed the Father's glory, and perfectly covers the holiness gap through His grace. As John 1:16-17 declares, "From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." Because of Christ, there are no longer any limits to the intimacy we can have with the Father. The invitation to draw near still stands — and in Jesus, we finally can. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! There's a mental image a lot of us carry of what God's face looks like when we finally turn around and start walking home. Maybe you picture disappointment, or a long, tired sigh, or a face that's already made up its mind about you. But Jesus tells a story about a father who saw his son while he was still a long way off, and the father ran. This week's message is part of our ongoing series, The Good Fight, and we walk through what it actually looks like to draw near to God when you feel far from him. Drawing from Luke 11, 1 Timothy 6, James 4:8 to 10, and the three parables of Luke 15, we explore the difference between the omnipresence and the manifest presence of God, why holiness was never meant to keep us away, and how the love of the Father runs toward us before we ever have a chance to clean ourselves up.Paul tells Timothy to fight the good fight, but he doesn't tell him to fight it alone, and he doesn't tell him to fight it through performance. He tells him to run from evil and run toward God. That is the heart of pursuing holiness in the Christian life. We don't simply move away from sin. We move toward our Father. If you've ever felt like one of the put together religious people on the outside, or one of the put out people who feel too far gone, this message is for you. Two of sin's quietest lies are that God runs from you when you fail, and that your worth to him decreases with every wrong turn. The prodigal son sermon in Luke 15 dismantles both. Your Father is filled with compassion before you say a single word. Repentance is not what earns the embrace. Repentance is the debris that falls out of the collision of his love and your fallen humanity. So how do you actually pursue holiness this week? You just show up. You stand in the presence of the Lord. You let him love you. The confession will come. The change will come. But it comes after the embrace, never before.Scripture in this sermon: Luke 11 (the Lord's Prayer), 1 Timothy 6:11 to 12, James 4:8 to 10, and Luke 15 (the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son).

What if being united to God begins with being cut open? In this episode of Draw Near, we explore Romans 11 and the powerful image of being “grafted” into God. Using the biblical metaphor of the olive tree, St. Paul reveals something profound about the spiritual life: union with God is living, dependent, and deeply transformative. Grafting is no gentle process. It requires cutting, exposure, and vulnerability before new life can take hold. And the same is true in our relationship with God. He does not simply improve us from the outside; he works within us, cutting away what is hardened so that we can receive his life more fully. We reflect on how God is the root who sustains us, how we are invited to remain in him, and what it means to bear interior fruit fruit that comes not from our own strength, but from grace. Drawing connections to Ezekiel 36 and the promise of a new heart, this episode invites you to consider how God may be at work in the hidden places of your life; and what areas of your own life have you hardened? If you've ever wrestled with vulnerability, struggled to trust God in the midst of difficulty, or wondered how real transformation actually happens—this conversation is for you. Like our podcast? St. Patrick's story is one of suffering, conversion, and mission. Enslaved as a teenager, he encountered God in hardship and later returned to Ireland to preach Christ. This episode reflects on the Lorica of St. Patrick—a powerful prayer of spiritual strength and protection—and its invitation during Lent: to rise each day not by our own strength, but through the strength of the Trinity and the life of Christ. Rooted in the Cross, surrounded by the communion of saints, and sustained by Christ's presence, we are reminded: we do not walk alone.
