Scott Shilling is one of the world's foremost sales and motivational speakers. He joins Mark to talk about recovering from a stroke and the miracle of faith.Mark lives in Dallas and 8 days prior to his stroke he had hit his head on on the back tailgate of his SUV while loading books in his car. He ended up with a dull headache for a couple of days and didn't feel quite right. He didn't put the pieces together that these symptoms may have had something to do with being clunked in the head but rather thought that he was just tired from his busy life. He went on a trip to California to film for a tv show like life as usual. While in California Scott was on a set for a TV show that Mark was directing and producing when he had the stroke. At first he refused to go to the hospital, he just wanted to rest. The night prior to the television taping Scott fell while walking at Universal City in Hollywood. He did go to the hospital but showed only minor problems from the fall. The next day the crew insisted Scott go to the hospital. Tests showed Scott has a major stroke, yet he was chatting with the doctors and nurses throughout his hospital stay. Other patients with a less problematic condition couldn't move or speak. Scott says his faith in something greater than himself is why he lived.During this process Scott had an encounter with God. He did not feel he was suppose to die but he felt like there was more work for him to do here on earth. God's mercy, grace and favor on his life is why he survived this incident with a full recovery. God's timing and plans are always perfect and this gave Scott peace.Scott's purpose in life is to continue to help others in reaching their own goals, learning about life and being successful at what they want to do. Scott spends time working on projects in the alternative health field, which also contributed, to his working through the stroke. Exercise and supplements helped him after the stroke, while being in good physical and mental shape helped him survive the stroke.
