Christine Moghadam first got the idea of a cork yoga mat when she traveled to Portugal and learned about the amazing cork trees that dot the landscape. Cork is sustainable, naturally anti-microbial, and the harvesting process is a high-wage job for workers. She realized it would be the perfect material for a yoga mat, and Corc Yoga was born. Made from 100% organic cork sustainably harvested from Portugal, Corc Yoga is committed to providing the most natural products to yogis around the world while supporting sustainable practices, fair wages, & a clean environment. For every yoga mat sold, Corc Yoga donates a percentage of every sale to support a variety of youth mental health programs in Portugal and abroad.   Christine tells us how she created the company and diversified the product line, why sustainability is so important to her, and how the company gives back and supports mental health programs. We also discuss the 2021 Corc Yoga Retreat in Portugal.    00:06:40: What is Christine's job and where does she work?   00:08:00: What's the Corc Yoga origin story?    00:12:30: How is cork a sustainable material? What Up, Get Up Nation? My name is Ben Biddick, the Host of the Get Up Nation Podcast and Co-Author of Get Up: The Art of Perseverance with former Major League Baseball player and CEO of Lurong Living, Adam Greenberg. Recently I had the honor and privilege of speaking with the amazing Kelsey Delane. On her website www.kelseydelaneyoga.com, she describes aching for years to be “relieved of the burden of her Self” as she experienced severe anxiety and depression as an adolescent. She tried therapy and medication but didn’t find a satisfying solution until she discovered yoga at the age of 17. As she began to practice yoga, she began to “attempt things she previously believed she was incapable of doing.” She “stood in awe” of her strength as she “held a challenging posture and celebrated her ability to use her breath to endure discomfort.” Her perceptions changed about herself and the world, and a door opened into endless possibilities. Her practice has been her “anchor through teenage pregnancy, divorce, mental illness, and every day life.” Today she uses all she has learned and experienced to “walk alongside other women as they refine the tools of their practice, to encourage them along the way, and challenge them toward growth.” In short, after becoming the hero of her own life, she now helps others become the hero of theirs. It’s an honor to welcome Kelsey to the Get Up Nation Podcast. www.kelseydelaneyoga.com www.getupnationpodcast.com Thank you Christine Moghadam of www.corcyoga.com for introducing me to Kelsey so I could share her journey on the Get Up Nation Podcast! What Up, Get Up Nation? My name is Ben Biddick, the Host of the Get Up Nation Podcast and Co-Author of Get Up: The Art of Perseverance with former Major League Baseball player and CEO of Lurong Living, Adam Greenberg. Recently I had the honor and privilege of speaking with Christine Moghadam, the owner, founder, and CEO of www.corcyoga.com. Corc Yoga is one of the most unique businesses I’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. The yoga mats they create are made of cork which is harvested in a sustainable way in Portugal. Portugal’s carefully regulated cork industry protects the integrity of the cork trees while creating high-wage seasonal jobs for more than 10,000 workers who harvest the cork annually. The respect and honor shown to the trees during cork harvesting allows the trees to live their full life cycle which lasts hundreds of years. You must watch the Corc Yoga brand story video here https://bit.ly/2M9W1x3 to see this beautiful process. Christine is a noble entrepreneur and business owner committed to conducting business and enterprise in a sustainable, eco-friendly manner, and her selflessness goes even further. She is also dedicated to serving those who suffer from mental illness and cancer. I am honored Christine took time to speak with me about her unique, beautiful, and powerful business that serves and empowers others to be their finest and highest selves. Thank you, Christine, for joining me on the Get Up Nation Podcast! www.corcyoga.com www.getupnationpodcast.com Music: "Awaken" by Ethan Rank and “Oh Dear Child (feat.
