So Many Books, So Little Time - The old year departs, the new year arrives. John E.O. Stevens, Jeff Patterson and Fred Kiesche gather around the warm glows of their ham radio rigs and warm their hands over the vacuum tubes to discuss the best of 2016, what they are looking forward to in 2017 and culture consumed. Also…why do so many Russian sites feature the works of Samuel R. Delany? Newsflash: Past Fourth Hoarse Patrick Hester has a book! For reals! A lot of this episode was inspired by John DeNardo’s two-part look at what is coming in 2017, we recommend a read (while hiding your wallet): Part 01. Part 02. Host Fred Kiesche, John E.O. Stevens and Jeff Patterson with Fred Kiesche, Jeff Patterson and John E.O. Stevens.
Loncon 3, the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention, has announced the nominees for the 2014 Hugo and Campbell Awards. As is our practice, this week we have a special episode of the podcast devoted to discussing the awards and all of the wonderful nominees. We are very grateful to John De Nardo (of SF Signal) and Tansy Rayner Roberts (Galactic Suburbia and Verity) for joining us for what we think is an interesting conversation. We would also like to thank all of our listeners for nominating Coode Street for our third consecutive Best Fancast Hugo Award. We could not be happier, or more grateful. As always, we hope you enjoy the podcast and we'll be back next week with more! Other links: Larry Correia and the Sad Puppy Hugo slate.

Just in time for the Season 4 finale of The Wire, Episode 12 of Light On Light Through has Idris Elba aka Stringer Bell speaking on Stringer, in his new rap record - Driis Speaks on Stringer - in which he tells us what he thinks of Stringer's role in The Wire, and what Idris sees as his future in acting and music. I give my analysis of this season of The Wire, and respond to Idris. We got some great response to Episode 5 of Light On Light Through - "The Wire Without Stringer" - it's been far and away our most popular show - and I'm really pleased to present and discuss Idris' penetrating analysis here in his 2-minute rap record. Also in this episode - voice-mail from Ebony Moore, and e-mail from John DeNardo of www.sfsignal.com Enjoy...
