WorldTour racing is back with the Tour Down Under underway in Australia. The Cycling Podcast returns to recap the action from the first three stages and the latest news from the pro peloton.Daniel Friebe, Lionel Birnie, and our very own in-house professional cyclist Larry Warbasse discuss UAE Team Emirates' rip-roaring start to the year, as well as the predictions we didn't get from Larry last week. There is a detailed meditation on Larry's 14-year search for the perfect training formula—and the peloton's broader search for equilibrium in a sport that is increasingly data-obsessed, sometimes at the expense of mental and physical wellbeing.Derek Gee-West certainly experienced his share of emotional turmoil while attempting to change teams last autumn. We hear from Lidl-Trek's newest recruit on that saga and how close he thinks he can get to the likes of Pogačar and Vingegaard.Artwork photograph: UAE Team Emirates XRG / ph. Gather around The Cycling Podcast Féminin crystal ball and try (and mostly likely fail) to take a look into the future of the 2026 road season. Yes it is that time of the year when we bring out our ‘bold' predictions for the racing ahead. This time the team are taking safety in numbers as Rose Manley is joined by a bumper number of co-hosts in Denny Gray, Rebecca Charlton and Jo Rowsell.Who will be tipped for success in the Classics? Which rider might be headed for a Giro-Tour double? Who is looking likely for a big bounceback? Before the team inevitably squabble over what is to come, they'll first be taking a look at how they fared with their predictions last year. But enough conjecture, the team will also be taking a close look at the first Women's World Tour race of the season, the Tour Down Under. There's plenty to talk about after Team UAE-ADQ squandered a three-versus-one advantage over Noemi Ruegg to grant the Swiss rider her second consecutive title at the race. Plus we discuss the recently announced UK Grand Depart for the Tour de France Femmes in 2027.Also on the agenda: the correct pronunciation of ‘Leeds', giving birth before Gent-Wevelgem and a cheese knife that will turn your family against you.Follow us on social media:Twitter @cycling_podcastInstagram @thecyclingpodcastFriends of the PodcastSign up as a Friend of the Podcast at thecyclingpodcast.com to listen to new special episodes every month plus a back catalogue of more than 300 exclusive episodes. The 11.01 CappuccinoOur regular email newsletter is now on Substack. Brewers trade Freddy Peralta after his best year in the majors. Sad, but expected. Peralta and Myers headed to New York, Brewers get back two high level (top 5) prospects from the Mets' system. The Packers had Al Harris in for an interview for the DC job this week, could Jimmy Leonhard be next?? Badger basketball is good, Bucks basketball is not, and it's feeling like this is going to be a lost season. What does that mean for Giannis. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
More snow. More cold. Repeat. After shoveling a bit yesterday when I got home from work, it decided to snow some more in the afternoon and now I've got to shovel again today when I get out of here. In the news this morning, a Delta flight had to return to the gate after de-icing fluid leaked into the plane and soaked a passenger, a man is accused of posing as an ICE agent & breaking into someone's home, WinterFest in Green Bay is canceled because of winter, and a list of things Goodwill won't take. In sports, the Bucks lost to the Thunder last night, the Badger men's basketball team plays tonight against Penn State, the Brewers traded Freddy Peralta to the Mets, a look at this weekend's AFC & NFC Conference Championship games, and the 49ers are putting on their tinfoil hats! It's "National Hot Sauce Day", and it's also Hypothetical Thursday. Jean's question for Brian was: "Would you rather freeze to death or burn to death?" And Brian's question for Jean was: "Do you believe in heaven & hell and what do you think they look like?" Elsewhere in sports, a rundown of this Saturday's UFC 324 card, former sideline reporter Michele Tafoya is running for Senate in Minnesota, and a 4 year-old girl is getting death threats because of her NFL picks on social media. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and we also discussed Bret Michaels' response to the claim that he wanted 600% more money than the rest of Poison for a possible 40th Anniversary tour. Plus, the Super Bowl is only a few weeks away and they are already filming & leaking some of the ads you're going to see during the game. A couple of things are trending right now, including "house burping"…which is just opening the doors & windows throughout the year & getting some fresh air inside…and "Whimsy"…which is people trying to be more carefree in 2026. Great story about a cook at Texas Roadhouse who helped save a couple from a car wreck and just received an incredible reward for his heroics! Plus, another story about a dog that was missing who's now been reunited with his original owner. Office Cora also joined us this morning to talk about what she's up to this weekend in the 715. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a man in NH who's accused of breaking into people's residences and pouring queso on their furniture, a #FloridaMan who tried stealing a bunch of wine & steaks by shoving them down his pants, a female prison guard who was banging an inmate and attempting to sneak drugs into the lock-up, and a dude who shut off his heat in his apartment to save money & ended up with an ice castle instead.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
More snow. More cold. More misery. But, at least it's Hump Day & we've got two nights of live music at the La Crosse Center this weekend! Don't forget that the Riverfront Revolt is coming up on Friday & Saturday night and you can buy tickets in person at the Center Box Office or grab them online by clicking here. It is "Workforce Wednesday" today, so we helped you over the hump with some freebies thanks to GameDay Men's Health on Highway 16 in La Crosse. It's also "International Sweatpants Day", and with the weather the way it's been lately, sweatpants at work are totally acceptable! In the news this morning, an update on Timothy Busfield, Air Force One had to turn around shortly after taking off yesterday, Vice President JD Vance is coming to Minneapolis tomorrow, a bunch of recalled tuna accidentally got shipped to stores throughout the Midwest, and a missing Iowa boy is found safe in Wisconsin. In sports, the Bucks play tonight against the Thunder, the Badger men's basketball team looks to win their 5th straight tomorrow night against Penn State, Jimmy Butler is done for the season after tearing his ACL, a look at the latest NFL coaching hires, the betting favorite to win next year's College Football Playoffs National Championship, Jordan Addison has his charges dropped in Florida, and the Baseball HOF announces it's newest members. Let you know what's on TV today/tonight, and offered some ways to stay relevant at your job with A.I. taking over. A woman who likes to play contests and sweepstakes recently won a mansion, and a Navy rescue swimmer saved a woman's life after her car ended up in the ocean. Elsewhere in sports, Micah Parsons is looking for help while playing video games, and a bench-clearing brawl erupted during a traveling baseball tournament. There's a lot of possible side effects with the recent weight-loss drugs, but here's an interesting side effect you may not have thought of yet. Almost everyone swears. Including kids! We talked about some recent surveys & polls regarding kids & cursing. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who used a frying pan to fight off a home intruder, a dude in Virginia who threatened to blow up a Bojangles after they allegedly got his order wrong, a woman in Texas who got arrested after smoking meth during a video call with an inmate at a prison, and apparently…Porn isn't so bad for you after all!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by Topo Athletic, we are joined yet again by our pal Andrew Skurka and wayyyyy back former guest and now co-director of Skurka Adventures, Katie Gerber aka "Salty". Today's episode covers a lot of ground. Today's conversation is part backpacking advice, part gear nerd chat, part a glimpse inside the operation at Skurka Adventures. We first dive into Katie's list of the five biggest mistakes she made as a beginner backpacker and her take on why she loves her alcohol stove- after a decade of use. Andrew gives us an overview of vapor barrier layers and moisture management for cold-weather backpacking, the Ursack versus bear canister debate, he gives a framework for deciding exactly when it's time to hit the SOS button on your satellite communicator, the ethics of publicizing GPS tracks in these high consequence and fragile regions, and he shares his two cents on one of the most detailed bear-safety questions we've ever received. The duo also give us some standout stories from their years of working together, including a nightmarish and somehow hilarious story of surviving a Mojave Desert traffic jam in triple-digit heat. We wrap the show with a call for Trail Correspondents, if setting up your tent in the airport makes you a genius or an A-hole, the triple crown of winter drinks, and some fun Ibex facts from a listener. Packers extend Matt LaFleur, no word on length or money but the deal is done, Gutey is likely next. The Chicago Bears have their hearts ripped out by the Rams in the Divisional round, something you absolutely HATE to see! Wild game between the Broncos and Bills ends with a Denver overtime win, but losing Bo Nix for the season. Bucks continue to flounder and need to fire Doc Rivers. Bassist of the band Extreme calls in.
And just like that, it's Friday! We've got snow in the forecast today and then brutally cold temps this weekend. In the news this morning, the Milwaukee father accused of locking six kids in a storage locker has been found guilty, President Trump is threatening to use the Insurrection Act to help handle the situation in Minneapolis, a recall on bottled water that was distributed to several states in the Midwest including Wisconsin, and Matthew McConaughey has trademarked the phrase "alright, alright, alright" to keep it from falling into the evil hands of A.I. Speaking of artificial intelligence, we had a couple of additional stories about the technology this morning. Including a professor from Canada who got all his news from A.I. bots for a full month. And his data says that the news it fed him was fully accurate just 47% of the time…partially accurate 45% of the time…and the other 8% was bullshit. Plus, 41% of travelers claim they'll trust A.I. recommendations over their friends and social media. Which feels sad. In sports, the Bucks lost again last night to the Spurs, the Badger men's basketball team takes on Rutgers tomorrow, the NFL divisional round kicks off tomorrow afternoon & concludes on Sunday, and another betting scandal in the world of college basketball. Today is "National Boston Day". It's also "Appreciate a Dragon Day", and "International Fetish Day". So celebrate accordingly! We let you know what's on TV this weekend and what's new in theaters. Additionally, the new "Baywatch" show is holding an open casting call if you think you've got what it takes! Cool story about a retiring news anchor from Philly who is now a Guinness World Record holder, and a Canadian lottery winner decided to help others during the holidays after collecting a massive jackpot! Elsewhere in sports, Clayton Kershaw is going to pitch for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, and the latest on that Olympic hockey rink. The astronauts successfully returned to Earth from the space station after one of them had a medical emergency. And a start-up company is trying to rent hotel rooms on the moon. Good luck with that. Doc recorded a Racing Report extra for us thanks to County Materials in Holmen. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who was trying to take a nap when a car crashed into his home & landed on top of him, a bunch of driverless delivery trucks in China are basically ramming into everything like a scene from "Grand Theft Auto", a dude who impersonated a cop so he could get free donuts, & a guy in Canada who assaulted another dude because he was ice fishing too close to his spot.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The first regular episode of the year is traditionally our excuse to indulge in some rare speculation ahead of the coming season – and Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie are back to uphold the time-honoured ritual here. In addition to our hosts' often leftfield prognostications, we hear what our international carousel of regular contributors is expecting from the next few months. Which one of our regular guests, for example, reckons that Primož Roglič won't win a single race in 2026? Who reckons that Jonas Vingegaard will complete the Grand Tour Grand Slam before Tadej Pogačar? And what on earth is a Noni fruit – and what ‘juice', exactly, does Daniel have on their miraculous ability to boost performance? All of this and more will be revealed! Busy Thursday as we get ready for the colder temps to move in along with the snow! Should start sometime this afternoon & continue through tomorrow. In the news this morning, actor Timothy Busfield recently turned himself in to authorities after allegations of child sexual abuse and now he's facing new charges involving a 16 year-old girl, an ICE agent was attacked in Minneapolis yesterday & shot a man in the leg, Verizon has resolved it's outage from yesterday and has promised to provide account credits to it's customers, a man who heckled President Trump at a Ford factory has been suspended from his job…but a GoFundMe for him has already raised almost a million dollars, and a recall on Super Greens dietary supplements. In sports, the Bucks take on the Spurs tonight, the Badger men's basketball team face Rutgers on Saturday, a look at the NFL Divisional Round schedule, the College Football National Championship game is on Monday night between Miami & Indiana, Adam Theilen officially announced his retirement yesterday, and it looks like John Harbaugh is going to be the next head coach for the Giants. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we also discussed a list of "nearly perfect" comedy films and added a few more of our own. Cool story about an influencer who goes to farmer's markets to highlight local vendors and completely changed the life of a mom-&-pop beef jerky brand from Texas! And speaking of snacks, we looked at Instacart's list of the Top 10 Super Bowl snacks. If you're looking for something Super Bowl-esque, Cup Noodles is releasing three chicken wing-inspired flavors just in time for the big game. It's Hypothetical Thursday and Brian went first with his question, "Would you rather have constant diarrhea or constant constipation?" Jean asked, "Which Boston sports team would you pick to win a championship?" Elsewhere in sports, the UFC Bantamweight Championship fight between Kayla Harrison & Amanda Nunes at next weekend's UFC 324 has been postponed, a bunch of money & guns were stolen from Greg Biffle's home just weeks after his tragic death in a plane crash, and a high school football team is cancelling it's next season after it went winless….and scoreless for an entire season this year! Office Cora joined us just after 8am to talk about what she's up to this weekend in the 715. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who found an interesting charge on her Chick-Fil-A receipt, a stranger who knocked on someone's door at midnight and asked them to make a pizza, a mom in the UK who made her kids pay for their own McDonald's, and a #FloridaWoman who tried to avoid being arrested by shitting on the cops.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In today's episode of Backpacker Radio, presented by The Trek, brought to you by LMNT, we are joined by Eric Volk, who we attempt to trail name "5-16." In just six years, Eric went from novice hiker to expert off-trail adventurer, completing his own custom routes across the Sierra, Grand Canyon, North Cascades, and Alaska, including his Brooks Range Traverse and Arctic thru-hike. He is believed to be the first or second person to hike from the Canadian border to the Arctic Ocean entirely on foot. Today, we're getting an in-depth tutorial on all things off-trail and route-based hiking. Eric gives a detailed overview of how to get started with off-trail adventuring, the biggest differences between hiking on trail and off, recommended "beginner" routes, key gear considerations, the navigational skills required (including the specific tools he uses and recommends), the wide variety of terrain you might encounter, weather considerations, the importance of doing your due diligence, and much more. Eric also shares some fun stories from his routes, including trekking through the mathematically most remote place in the U.S., incredible wildlife encounters with caribou, grizzlies, musk ox, and mountain lions, and the ethics of publicizing GPX tracks. As the final week of the NFL regular season wrapped up on Sunday, it was time to check in on our Week 18 Pigskin Picks and sort out when Jean will be making that seafood paella for Brian. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who ran over her boyfriend in a Taco Bell parking lot, a #FloridaMan who tried to run over a kid on a scooter because he thought the kid was a porch pirate, a #FloridaTeen who got popped for doing 154mph, and a dude in Scotland who took a full-on kick to the balls!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Alex Murdaugh didn't commit his crimes alone — and today, one of his most essential enablers is finally facing real consequences. In this explosive Hidden Killers breakdown, Tony Brueski unpacks the downfall of Russell Laffitte, the former CEO of Palmetto State Bank and heir to a century-old Lowcountry dynasty, who has now been sentenced in both state and federal court for bank fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy. For years, Laffitte wasn't just a banker — he was the engine behind Murdaugh's schemes. This episode goes inside the financial machinery of the Murdaugh empire. Laffitte approved illegal loans, drained conservatorship accounts, and siphoned money from some of the most vulnerable victims imaginable: grieving families, injured clients, and people who trusted the justice system. He didn't pull a trigger at Moselle — but he kept the money flowing long enough for Murdaugh to destroy countless lives. We examine how the fraud worked, why it continued for so long, and how small-town privilege and legacy allowed Laffitte to operate unchecked. Was he manipulated by Murdaugh's charm and pressure, or was he a fully willing architect of the deceit? His courtroom shift from defiant innocence to sudden guilty plea raises its own questions — and reveals how quickly loyalty evaporates when prison becomes real. Tony breaks down the biggest victims in the financial web, including the stolen settlements of Hakeem Pinckney, the Badger family, and others whose tragedies were exploited for profit. And we explore what Laffitte's sentencing means for the broader Murdaugh universe: Who else knew? Who else helped? And who might be next? If you thought the Murdaugh case was just about murder, this episode exposes the darker truth — that behind every monster is the person who keeps the machine running. #Murdaugh #RussellLaffitte #MurdaughMurders #TrueCrimePodcast #FinancialCrime #BankFraud #HiddenKillers #SouthCarolinaCrime #WhiteCollarCrime #PalmettoStateBank Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Welcome to the final work day of 2025! Jean and I are off the rest of this week, but you can still tune in from 6am until 10am for a "Best Of" the show! Kicked things off with the Wednesday song and talked about some of the New Year's Eve TV specials that are on the boob-tube tonight. Also had a list of things to look forward to in the month of January. In the news this morning, the Trump administration is freezing child-care funds for the state of Minnesota, more than thirty bodies have been recovered from the bayous in the Houston area this year, the FBI released pictures of a motorcycle collection they seized that belonged to former Olympian Ryan Wedding, and actor Isiah Whitlock Jr. has passed away. In sports, the Badger men's basketball team got a nice win last night, the Bucks play tonight and look to win a third straight, a look at the NFL's Week 18 schedule along with the College Football bowl game schedule. Cool story about a toy store in Arizona that donated a bunch of toys to the local Salvation Army right before Christmas…and another incredible story of a group of middle schoolers who helped save a bus driver who was experiencing a medical emergency. Elsewhere in sports, the latest on the Stefon Diggs situation, his brother Trevon Diggs gets released by the Cowboys, and Nikola Jokic is going to be out for a month after injuring his knee the other day. As we say goodbye to 2025, we listed some of the rockers & celebrities who died in the past year. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the world's first oral care robot that brushes your teeth automatically, a guy who tried to steal a utility truck with a man still in the bucket, a naked #FloridaMan who robbed a meat market while wearing nothing but a mask, and a woman that was "wrongfully inseminated" at a hospital in Oregon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Rick talks to Wisconsin Badger football legend, Montee Ball this week. After a record-breaking high school career, Ball had a stellar career for the Badgers. In 2011, Ball was named First-team All-American by Yahoo Sports. He was one of five finalists for the Heisman Trophy. He finished fourth in the voting, with 348 points (22-1st place, 83-2nd place and 116-3rd place points). Ball’s fourth-place finish was the highest in Wisconsin history for a non-winner of the award, until Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon finished second behind Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota in 2014. He was joined by teammate Russell Wilson, who also received votes. On January 2, 2012, Ball scored his 39th touchdown of the season, tying him with Barry Sanders for most touchdowns in a single FBS season. He finished the season with a NCAA-leading 1,923 rushing yards and 33 rushing touchdowns, while adding 24 receptions for 306 receiving yards and six touchdowns. In 2012, Ball scored three rushing touchdowns against Purdue, giving Ball a career total of 72 touchdowns. This broke the Big Ten record and the Wisconsin record of 71 held by former Badgers running back Ron Dayne. He also ran for a career-high of 247 yards against the Boilermakers. On November 24, 2012, Ball became the FBS career record holder for total touchdowns when he scored his 79th touchdown on a 17-yard run against Penn State. Ball won the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back. Ball became the second Badger to win the award. Ron Dayne won the award in 1999. He was named as a Consensus All-American. On New Year’s Day, 2013, Ball became the first player in Rose Bowl Game history to score a touchdown in three straight years.[39] Overall, he finished the season with 1,830 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns. NCAA single season records Most touchdowns, season: 39 tied (2011) Most consecutive games with two or more touchdowns: 13 (2011) Most points scored by non-kicker: 236 (2011) Big Ten single season records Most touchdowns: 39 (2011) Wisconsin single season records Most touchdowns: 39 (2011) Most rushing touchdowns: 33 (2011)

Great story about a restaurant that cancelled it's holiday party and donated all the money they would have spent to one of their employees who was adopting a child. In sports, the Falcons beat the Rams on MNF to wrap up week 17, a look at the schedule for the final week of the regular season, a look at the upcoming Bowl game schedule, the Bucks got another win last night, the Badger men's basketball team plays tonight after a lengthy holiday break, UFC fighter Tom Aspinall needs multiple eye surgeries, Ryan Lochte is selling some of his Olympic medals, and tragedy strikes the world of NASCAR yet again with the deadly fire at Denny Hamlin's parents' home. In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, we are joined by Alan Dixon, better known in the backpacking world as Adventure Alan. Alan is a literal rocket scientist, a lifelong adventure junkie, and a foundational figure in the early days of ultralight backpacking, having co-founded Backpacking Light. Alan shares some jaw dropping stories from his many routes, including a near-death experience in the Tetons, his philosophy for developing routes—most notably his popular Wind River High Route, the South Sierra High Route, and the Escalante Overland Route. We dig into how he's managed to bring his base weight down to as low as 2.4 lb., the small luxuries he now allows himself, some of his favorite cottage brands, and his overarching gear philosophies. We also talk about why he follows a ketogenic diet and how he maintains it on trail, his adventures with his wife of more than 20 years, and much more. We wrap the show with the triple crown of gifts for backpackers ($75 or less), a hill that we're willing to die on that everyone else thinks is ridiculous, some new AT stamps that have been out for a long time, and I talk fast. And how this technology helped China to massively develop its economy, its private companies and its military in an extremely short timespan and basically catch up to the United States in a way that otherwise might not have been possible. We talk about how China actually does that on a practical level and why is it so good at it, even though it's not at all the country doing that or how is the intelligence competition shaping the race for AI dominance and much more.
The Christmas break is over and we got a bunch of rain & precipitation the last few days before getting snow dumped on top of that. Driving this morning was atrocious! Back to the grind for a few days this week before we'll once again be off for the New Year's holiday on Thursday & Friday. Speaking of New Year's, a new poll revealed what Americans really want to do on NYE. And since it is the end of 2025 this week, we looked at some end-of-the-year data from YouTube and Google. In the news, the Powerball was won on Christmas Eve by someone in Arkansas, the body of a missing swimmer is recovered, a #FloridaMan killed his wife & shot his stepdaughter over an argument about an NFL game, and the government is investigating a deadly crash involving two helicopters in New Jersey. In sports, a recap of this weekend's NFL action and a look at some of the important matchups in Week 18 with serious playoff implications! Myles Garrett is still looking for one sack to set the NFL record for sacks in a season. Plus, several other NFL records that could be set during the final week of play. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and discussed the things we were watching over the holiday break. Elsewhere in sports, the Bucks got Giannis back and saw immediate returns on that, the Badger men's basketball team gets back on the court tomorrow night, and a look at the Bowl game schedule. Great story about the power of positivity in Wisconsin as a small community comes together to find a missing dog. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a math teacher who sent sexually explicit texts to her fifth grade student, a man who is suing Outback Steakhouse after he claims a toilet injured him, a doomsday mom who allegedly abducted her four children and fled the country, and a video game addict who left a huge mess in a hotel room.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In today's episode of Backpacker Radio, presented by The Trek, I'm sitting this one out because it's the fourth edition of Girl's Stuff. Chaunce is joined by former guest Christine Reed and BPR first-timer Maggie Schoemann. The three cover hiking with a partner, where to get a vag wax on trail, birth control, weird body changes, including managing a beard on trail as a woman, eating disorders and how thru-hiking can trigger or resurface disordered eating (trigger warning), and much more. These are Chaunce's notes, so I'm just going to assume they're all accurate. We wrap the show with Chaunce's take on the new Diddy doc and the triple crown of the worst parts of the holidays. In this episode of The Cycling Podcast, we continue to round up the biggest stories from the ‘Costa crawl' of pre-season training camps, with our spotlight this week falling on Lidl-Trek and their new star signing Juan Ayuso. Before Dani Arribas reports back from Ayuso's curious ‘welcome' press conference in Spain, Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie give their impressions on the newly unveiled 2026 Vuelta a España route. On paper it may be the hardest Grand Tour in recent memory. But will that make for exciting racing on the road? The second and third parts of the episode feature exclusive interviews with Ayuso and also one of the men charged with coaxing the best out of him in his new team: Lidl-Trek's Head of Performance, Josu Larrazabal. You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout… would all be worthy advice for our co-hosts on this episode of The Cycling Podcast Féminin. Yes, quizmaster Rose Manley, defending champion Rebecca Charlton and perennial quiz loser Denny Gray are back for another humdinger of a quiz. Join in as they take on such rounds as Blankety Bonk, the Sound Round and the now infamous Cryptic Criterium. No genuine cycling knowledge required but an enjoyment of puns is advisable. Before all the ugly competitiveness sets in, the team look back at some of their top racing moments of 2025. Tantalising rivalries, career-changing breakthroughs and some French flair all make the list. And we hear from a few familiar friends to find out their top picks from the season too. And of course no Christmas is complete without a little homespun festive music and some Cycling Podcast themed gifting. Keep listening right to the end for a very special exclusive treat from Paul Carella, the musician extraordinaire who also happens to be Rebecca Charlton's partner. Also on the agenda, Greek rising star Flyinthesoupis, more allegations of quiz fixing and could that be the sound of Rebecca really enjoying Nienke Vinke's white jersey win? In this week's episode of The Cycling Podcast, Daniel Friebe is joined by fellow journalist Dani Arribas for a special bulletin from UAE Team Emirates' December training camp. Before hearing Tadej Pogačar reveal his 2026 race programme in Benidorm, we find out more about a revamped and renamed team born in Barcelona, NSN Cycling Team. Their manager, Kjell Callström answers Daniel's questions about their controversial old owner, Sylvan Adams, and his successors. Pogačar's great unveiling told us that he will target Paris-Roubaix first and the Tour de France second, in that order of chronology and importance. We hear from the SlovAlien himself, his coaches and one team-mate, Florian Vermeersch, who opens up about the famous leader who fascinates him maybe as much as his superstar team-mate. In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by LMNT, we are joined by Jessica Guo known on trail as Stitches. This year, Stitches became the first woman on record to connect both the Continental Divide Trail and Great Divide Trail northbound in one calendar year. We talk all about this logistically and physically impressive feat, hiking through the Sierra during a record snow year, how she earned her trail name the hard way, her unconventional relationship with pain, how 10 her day silent meditations better prepare her for thru-hiking and gives us a sample 2 minute meditation, what it was like becoming social media famous this year- going from less than 2K followers to 50K, and much more. We wrap the show with a call for Trek Vloggers, a breakdown of how hard the Long Trail is as measured by Katie's steps per mile, apparently some people can smell ants, and the triple crown of peanut butter combinations. In this week's episode of The Cycling Podcast, Daniel Friebe is joined by fellow journalist Daniel Benson for a look at how RedBull-BORA-hansgrohe are gearing up for the 2026 season. After Remco Evenepoel's arrival, the German team are under pressure to deliver on their long-standing ambition to join cycling's ‘superteams'. This week their riders and goals for the new season were presented in Mallorca, with Daniel Benson among the reporters in attendance. He tells us what he heard and what he makes of Ralph Denk's grand plan to integrate Remco while still keeping his other star names happy. We also give you the latest on the Oscar Onley-to-Ineos speculation and ponder what Lidl-Trek are likely to reveal about Juan Ayuso's 2026 schedule at their own media event in Spain. In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, we're joined by Lucy Barnard. Lucy, along with her pup Wombat, has walked from the southern tip of Argentina all the way through the Great Divide Trail in Canada, and she'll be picking up the final leg of this monster journey — through northern Canada and into Alaska — later this winter. We get into what compelled Lucy to take on such an audacious mission, especially given that she had virtually zero long-distance hiking experience beforehand. She shares some truly wild stories from the trail, including being held at gunpoint by cartel members, what it's been like navigating this trek with a dog in tow, the extra hoops that come with that, the overwhelming kindness she's encountered from strangers along the way, and plenty more. We wrap the show by highlighting a 140-mile in Portugal that belongs on your bucket list, how a thru-hiker staple might be giving us all mercury poisoning, movies we definitely don't recommend, the triple crown of embarrassing foods, and the lazy person's guide to making your own dehydrated meals.
