The Men's World Road Race Championship will take place in Montreal this weekend without its defending champion, a crash in the Vuelta a España having seemingly ended Tadej Pogačar's 2026 season. Of course Pogačar had finally looked set to win the Vuelta…finally, because this is the last Grand Tour missing from his collection, and it had been a long time coming.The SlovAlien had in fact made his Grand Tour debut in the Vuelta in 2019 and never returned until this year. That first appearance, though, has gone down in cycling history as the race, the moment that lit the spark, the beginning of a one-man firestorm that would tear through professional cycling. Pogačar finished it with three stage wins and a place on the podium in Madrid. Claire Badger, a former research scientist and science teacher, disagrees with one of the most popular ideas in education: that schools kill creativity. Drawing on the cognitive science in her book, she argues that creativity has a clear definition (something must be both new and useful) and that most school approaches to it miss the second half. If your school celebrates its art displays, orchestra and project weeks as proof of creativity, this conversation will make you question what those activities are actually building. It matters for international school leaders in particular, where inquiry-based and project-based learning sit at the heart of the curriculum.You'll hear why a child's paperclip-spaceship idea is imaginative but not creative, and why a group of students told to write about "Colin, a red-haired boy missing a toe" produced better stories than those given a blank page. Claire shares her own "sustainable product" project day, which ended with a perpetual motion machine, and explains why cross-curricular projects often teach less than leaders hope. With the Vuelta a España pausing for its second rest day before the final week resumes on Tuesday, Lionel Birnie and Graham Willgoss get together to recap the 2026 men's Tour of Britain.Five days of racing took the peloton from Lincoln, famous for hosting one of the greatest single-day races on the British calendar, to the Borders of Scotland. We also discuss two riders at opposite ends of their career – Ben Swift, who completed the Tour of Britain in his 18th and final season as a professional rider, and Ben Wiggins, who is aiming for a pro contract and raced very aggressively on the final day to secure a place in the overall top ten for the young Great Britain team. Graham talks to Wiggins, son of the 2013 Tour of Britain champion, Bradley, about his week on the road and aim for the upcoming World Championships, where he will ride the under-23 time trial.
