Foxcatcher is a film based on the true story of what happened at Foxcatcher farm between the late eighties and nineties. The film tells the story of John E. DuPont, philanthropist, millionaire, failed athlete who wants to turn his team Foxcatcher into winning athletes. But this podcast isn't about the film plot, it's about the film casting. Do you think Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo, and Channing Tatum did a satisfactory job as John E. DuPont and David and Mark Schulz, or do you think the casting could've been entirely different?  Join me as I go over the casting of the film and why I think this cast was spot on, and eventually as I play "Cast It or Pass It" and decide whether the cast should stay as is, or change it up for something different.  Follow the Cast me Maybe social!: https://www.instagram.com/castmemaybepod/ Contact: castmemaybepod@gmail.com DM/Message me any questions you have about the episode, whether you agree or disagree, or suggestions for film/tv casts you want to talk about!

Team Foxcatcher Michele and Chelsea discuss the documentary Team Foxcatcher on this episode.  We start by giving some background on the DuPont family as well as John E. DuPont. We look at John DuPont's development of Team Foxcatcher and the power imbalance that existed between him and the athletes. We also discussed his strange behaviour and this was not new. Also how he was able to get away with things because he had a good relationship with the police We debate if it was o.k to leave his money to one of the wrestlers or if it should have been left with family. Chelsea is watching Teenage Bounty Hunters on Netflix. Michele is watching Girls on HBO. Curtis Brooner loved Burger King. In fact, he ate there almost every day. So it’s no surprise that on December 15, 2018, Curtis popped into Burger King for a quick bite. But before he left the restaurant, he went to the bathroom. Big mistake. Then Brandi tells us about John du Pont. John was an heir to the du Pont family fortune. He had plenty of money, but hardly any friends. Over time, he developed a passion for wrestling. He created a wrestling facility at his home, and became a sponsor for USA Wrestling. John had always been eccentric, but as years passed, his behavior became more and more concerning. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “Man sues for free Burger King for life after saying he got trapped in the bathroom,” Time Magazine Curtis Brooner vs Burger King Corporation “Burger King broke its promise of free-meals-for-life to Portland area customer, lawsuit claims,” By Aimee Green for The Oregonian “Oregon man gets $9,000 settlement after suing Burger King to regain promise of free meals for life,” By Everton Bailey for The Oregonian In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “A LIFE IN PIECES; For du Pont Heir, Question Was Control” by Jere Longman. Pam Belluck, and Jon Nordheimer, The New York Times “Blood on the Mat” by John Greenwald, Time Magazine “John E. DuPont Trial:1997”http://encyclopedia.com “John Du Pont And The Murder Of Dave Schultz: The True Story Behind ‘Foxcatcher’” by Mark Oliver “John du Pont”http://wikipedia.org
