Victorine Elizabeth du Pont, the first child of Eleuthère Irénée du Pont and his wife Sophie, was seven years old when her family emigrated to America, where her father established the humble beginnings of what would become a corporate giant. Through correspondence with friends and relatives from the ages of eight to sixty-eight, Victorine unwittingly chronicled the first sixty years of the du Pont saga in America. As she recovered from personal tragedy, she became first tutor of her siblings and relations. Leonard C. Spitale's biography Victorine Du Pont: The Force Behind the Family (U Delaware Press, 2022) makes the case that Victorine has had the broadest—and most enduring—influence within the entire du Pont family of any family member. The intellectual heir of her venerable grandfather, Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours, although Victorine grew up in an age where women's opportunities were limited, her pioneering efforts in education, medicine, and religion transformed an entire millworkers' community. Welcome back to part two of our interview with Jeremy Pont of Phoenix Regenerative Consultants in Lillesand, Norway. Part one focused mainly on partnership and the benefits of complimentary skill sets and areas of expertise. Part two is focused more on the clinical side and the benefits of regenerative medicine. Jeremy spoke to the limitations of the more conservative approach to pain and injuries, and how at Phoenix Helse, they have seen great improvements for their patients. Additionally, because regenerative medicine, specifically PRP and stem cell treatments, is somewhat uncharted territory, at least in terms of mainstream medical treatments, there's a ton of opportunity for learning and leading the charge. Jeremy and his business partner David have been working with world-renowned scholars and researchers in their quest to expand their understanding of the powers of regenerative medicine, and as such, they've expanded their business model to include consulting for other practitioners and providers who want to learn more about regenerative methods. They're working on multiple fellowships with the NIMS University in Jaipur, India, and Jeremy is pursuing his PhD as well, which means not only is he expanding his knowledge and getting top-notch training, he is also teaching as part of his program. Additionally, they've opened a research and development clinic in New Delhi, India, and will be opening to the general public in February 2023. With all the wisdom and knowledge Jeremy shared about the business of partnership and expanding knowledge, Jeremy's parting wisdom is right up my alley in the personal development realm: Try to read one book per month that's to do with personal growth. Live by the compass, not the clock. Write 3 goals each morning, and let 2 of them be about your happiness and presence; it makes all of your life easier and supports your patients in their experience of you. Bio: Jeremy grew up in Australia loving the outdoors and a keen sportsman. After completing his high school studies, Jeremy moved to Sydney where he obtained his Bachelor and Master's degree in Chiropractic at Macquarie University and thereby studying extensively musculoskeletal and sports medicine. Over the last 10 years he has added to his Master's degree and now has a certificate in functional applied science, completed his board certification in pain management in the United States, which further equipped him as a specialist in diagnosis and treating complex musculoskeletal conditions. This week we're joined by Jeremy Pont of Phoenix Regenerative Consultants in Lillesand, Norway. This is part one of our interview. Jeremy talks about the challenges and benefits of business partnership with a provider whose skillset complements yours. Jeremy strongly encourages writing everything down, getting crystal clear about all the possible contingencies, running the gamut from managing staff, to how side hustles are perceived, to larger decisions that require input from all invested parties. The journey to partnership and being in partnership is likely not for the faint of heart, but in hearing Jeremy talk about working with his partner David, I definitely hear from him that this partnership has been positive. The professional growth, expansion of knowledge, and locking arms with another provider who was tired of seeing his patients run out of non-pharmaceutical options, is a powerful combination to build a practice. Come back next week to hear more about regenerative medicine, how to piece together the right kind of education to expand your own practice into this modality if you like, and how to support your patients in healing and increasing their functionality. In 1951, hundreds of residents of the small French town of Pont-Saint-Esprit were struck down by a mystery illness that caused mass hallucinations. People thought they were being chased by tigers, others grabbed weapons and chased each other, one man jumped into a river because he thought his belly was being eaten by snakes. What had caused this mass event? Was it as something as innocent as bad food, or was there something much more sinister afoot? This is a comedy/history podcast, the report begins at approximately 05:28 (though as always, we go off on tangents throughout the report). Helping youth who have dropped out of high school is important, but what if we could prevent the dropouts altogether? That's the idea behind Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), championed by this week's podcast guest, Ken Smith. As the president and CEO of this 40-year-old non-profit organization, Ken is working to ensure that America's most vulnerable youth succeed after high school and secure good jobs. And they do that through mentorship and career-focused educational opportunities inside schools. Attendance has been pointed to by state leaders as the most pressing issue in schools. But it's not about getting students into seats, which is a symptom of a bigger issue. What's missing is connection. And without programs like JAG, we risk losing a big part of our next generation. JAG has served more than 1.7 million students to date in 39 states and Ken's vision has that impact doubling over the next few years. I'm incredibly impressed with the resources and opportunities that JAG will add in the coming years and I have no doubt that Ken will reach his goal. About Ken Smith: Mr. Kenneth M. Smith serves as President and CEO of Jobs for America's Graduates, Inc. (JAG), the nation's largest, most consistently applied model of high school retention and school-to-career transition for high-risk young people of great promise. In 1979, Mr. Smith worked with Governor Pete du Pont of Delaware on the design of the first statewide test of the JAG Model and has served as President and CEO since its inception. JAG currently serves 75,000 young people annually, in more than 1,450 high schools, middle schools, and out-of-school programs in 39 states. Over 1.4 million youth have been connected to JAG throughout its 40-year history. The non-profit JAG National Board of Directors is chaired by Governor John Bel Edwards of Louisiana. It includes among its 50 members—fourteen Governors and several executives of major corporations and business and community organizations. In recognition of his knowledge of national employment and training issues, three Presidents have appointed Mr. Smith to national commissions. He was appointed in 1981 and again in 1983 by President Reagan as Chairman of the National Commission for Employment Policy. Designed to analyze the full range of government policy related to employment, the Commission continues with a $2 million annual appropriation and a 15-member professional staff. Mr. Smith also accepted an appointment by President Reagan to the National Advisory Council on Vocational Education, where he had previously served under appointment by President Ford. President Nixon appointed Mr. Smith as Vice Chairman of the National Advisory Council on the Education of Disadvantaged Children for the period 1973-76. Mr. Smith is also Chairman and Chief Executive of Strategic Partnerships LLC. Prior to founding JAG, Mr. Smith served as staff aide to President Nixon (1969-70); as Director of Special Projects for the Distributive Education Clubs of America; and founder and President of 70,0001 Ltd., a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping high school dropouts obtain employment. Thereafter, he served in a new post as Senior Advisor to the Governor of Delaware on all activities related to education at the secondary and postsecondary levels. During this period, he chaired the Commission of the Future of Education in Delaware and was nominated to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delaware Technical College. Mr. Smith serves as a Trustee of the America's Promise Alliance, founded in 1997 with General Colin Powell as Chairman and chaired today by Alma Powell, is a cross-sector partnership of more than 300 corporations, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and advocacy groups that are passionate about improving lives and changing outcomes for children Jump in the Conversation: [1:22] - Who is Ken Smith [1:50] - Where Ken's story of serving youth started [4:35] - The depth and breadth of schools is daunting [4:51] - Our present situation now is the most alarming we've ever seen [6:48] - A disconnected population at scale [7:23] - Attendance is the symptom, not the disease [8:25] - Part time work increases motivation in school [9:17] - What JAG is and why are so many students a part of it [13:22] - Youth need a relationship with a mentor [16:15] - How JAG has spread to so many states [19:16] - Where JAG is heading [23:09] - Turbo Time [28:04] - Ken's passion for JAG [28:48] - Something good that's come out of COVID [30:38] - Ken's Magic Wand [33:12] - Maureen's Takeaways Links & Resources JAG Rita Pierson TED Talk Email Maureen Maureen's TEDx: Changing My Mind to Change Our Schools The Education Evolution Facebook: Follow Education Evolution Twitter: Follow Education Evolution LinkedIn: Follow Education Evolution EdActive Collective Maureen's book: Creating Micro-Schools for Colorful Mismatched Kids Micro-school feature on Good Morning America The Micro-School Coalition Facebook: The Micro-School Coalition LEADPrep
When First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy took on the herculean task of restoring the interior of the White House, she appointed renowned collector Henry Francis du Pont of Delaware to lead the project. Winterthur, du Pont's home which he turned into the first Museum of American Decorative Arts in 1951, served as inspiration for the renovation. White House Historical Association president Stewart McLaurin visited Winterthur and spoke with Elaine Rice Bachmann, curator of an exhibition based on the mentoring relationship between the reserved octogenarian and Mrs. Kennedy. “Jacqueline Kennedy and H. F. du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House” uses artifacts and images to go behind-the-scenes of this collaboration which culminated in the First Lady giving a televised tour of the renovated White House in 1962. The exhibition will be on view at the 175-room museum of American antiques and interiors outside Wilmington, DE, through January 8, 2023. In this Quotable Monday, Daniel features the quote from Seth, Our Point of Power is the Present. He expounds on this idea to demonstrate that we can influence the past and create the future from our present moment. We are born anew every oment of every day,it is only the baggage from yesterday that we bring intothe next moment that perpetuates our old story.Wecan create from this present moment a whole new futre. Some people call it quantum jumping, or jumping times lines... it is simply speaking into existence.THE HIGH VIBE LIFE Online WorkshopLINKSGet The Manifesting Study Guide Here: THE HIGH VIBE LIFE Online WorkshopTHE ALIGNED SELF COACHING PROGRAM: http://yesdaniel.comFREE VIDEO TRAINING: 5 Mindset Shifts to Up Grade Your Money GameCheckout Daniel's new membership program THE VAULTDANIEL D'NEUVILLE's WEBSITE: http://dneuville.comDaniel's YouTube CHANNELFACEBOOK GROUPSPODCAST LISTENER'S FB COMMUNITYEXTREME GRATITUDE PROJECTBass Slap Intro written and performed by bass player & producer: Miki SantamariaMiki's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com Hosted on Acast.
