PLEASE SHARE THIS EPISODE in your social media so others who love strange and macabre stories can listen too! https://weirddarkness.com/listenHOUR ONE: It could be everyone's ultimate fear. Not death… but being buried before death. Buried alive. It's not just a trope of horror cinema and novels, it has truly happened on a few occasions – and we'll hear stories from a few people who were buried alive, but survived to tell the tale. (I Was Buried Alive) *** But first… Reddit users share their own personal tales of how they became believers in ghosts and the paranormal. We'll begin with those stories. (How I Came To Believe) ==========HOUR TWO: A Weirdo family member relays a terrifying story of what is described as “El Nahual” in Mexico – a shapeshifter, that her dad barely escaped from! (El Nahual In The Avocado Grove) *** John George Haigh took the plunge into murder when he knocked out his old boss and dumped the body into acid – then set out to kill again. (Acid Bath Murderer) *** Only two percent of the population can hear it. A persistent, maddening sound that science has no explanation for, and the hearers have dubbed it, “The Hum”. (The Hum) *** The Tromp family fled their farm in 2016. There is still no explanation as to why, and one police officer calls it “the most bizarre case” he has ever seen. (The Tromp Family Fleeing) *** In Chatham County, North Carolina there is a 40-foot wide circle in the wilderness where absolutely nothing grows. Not only can scientists not explain it, but some believe Satan himself is responsible. (The Devil's Tramping Ground)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: The circumstances of wrestling coach John du Pont's bizarre crimes were portrayed in the critically acclaimed true crime drama film, Foxcatcher. Steve Carell was lauded for his performances as John du Pont, and the film was nominated for five Academy Awards. But how true is the film compared to the actual events? In diesem Sinne: I smile, even though I hurt see I smile. I know God is working so I smile. Even though I've been here for a while, I smile. Tschüss. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today, on Crime & Entertainment we have The King of CT Matt Granahan back on the show. We dive into the crazy tale of Jon Du Pont. Du Pont built a state-of-the-art training facility at his estate, which he renamed Foxcatcher Farm. In addition, he established an Olympic wrestling club, Team Foxcatcher, one of only a few such organizations in the United States, and he recruited top wrestlers, among them Mark Schultz, the younger brother of Dave Schultz and also an Olympic champion. Du Pont was an extraordinarily generous sponsor, providing stipends, travel expenses, and for some, free housing at Foxcatcher Farm. Among those living at the estate was Dave Schultz, who was a coach for Team Foxcatcher and was also in training for the 1996 Olympics. However, not all was well with Du Pont as he was known to drink heavily and to use cocaine. He seemed to have little control over his temper, and he had an extensive arms collection. He required others to cooperate in maintaining his fantasy that he was himself an accomplished wrestler and athlete. Du Pont became increasingly prone to delusions, many of them paranoid in nature, especially after his mother's death in 1988. His erratic behavior was dismissed by many of his wrestlers and the police force as eccentricity, and few people regarded him as dangerous until he fatally shot Dave Schultz at Foxcatcher Farm in January 1996. Du Pont was captured after a 48-hour standoff. He was convicted in 1997 of third-degree murder and was adjudged to be mentally ill. Du Pont received a sentence of 13 to 30 years, and he died in prison.Crime & Entertainment hereLike us on Facebook -   / crimeandentertainment  Follow us on -   / crimenentertainment  Listen on Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/4T67Bs5... I am worried we get something wrong about it by being white men talking about 'Born in Flames' so please do not hurt us. It allowed us to sort of start from a place of what's going to happen next? And I think because what is drawn in the novel and because of what Danny brought into the original script of the first season and all the ideas he brought in. The biggest thing we talked about was the relationship between Del Harris and Grace Poe and what is the ambiguity there? And I think when, when you start answering questions on either side of that too firmly, I think it allows the audience to disconnect from it and then they go, Oh, he's a monster, or she's a monster. And then you just have this sort of a good and bad guy, good and bad woman narrative that is oversimplified all too often in our culture.""It felt to me like a lot of the drive of season two is about payback. There are people who feel they're owed things. They want payback. There are people who feel like they have to get back at people because they've been wronged in some way. In a way, every character has something, some way that they're trying to right the wrong that was done to them or that they did in the first season. Jeff Daniel's character, Del Harris, is really driven by trying to right what he sees as wrongs that he did in the first season. And he's staying a little bit away from Grace because he doesn't know how much to blame her or how much were his own decisions or how much she kind of drove him to do things. What role do the families we're born into or the traumas we experience shape the people we become? Do good deeds offset bad deeds? How can the arts increase our capacity for empathy, understanding, and kindness?Dan Futterman is creator, executive producer, and writer of Amazon Prime's American Rust, the acclaimed crime drama starring Jeff Daniels, Maura Tierney, and David Alvarez. Previously, Dan has written screenplays for Capote, Foxcatcher, In Treatment, and Gracepoint. He served as executive producer on The Looming Tower. Dan is also an actor, director, and two-time Oscar nominee.Adam Rapp is the executive producer and writer of American Rust. He has written plays, films, and series, including Red Light Winter, The Sound Inside, In Treatment, Blackbird, The Looming Tower, and Dexter: New Blood. His latest novel is Wolf at the Table. He recently wrote the book for the new Broadway musical, The Outsiders."We ended on such a cliffhanger with Isaac presenting the wrench at the police station to Jeff Daniels' character. So that was fun to explore."www.imdb.com/name/nm0001246www.imdb.com/name/nm1452688/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1www.imdb.com/title/tt1532495/ https://outsidersmusical.com/ www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/adam-rapp/wolf-at-the-table/9780316434164/?lens=little-brownwww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

She was told by one editor in particular that she couldn't have any swear words, so she was sort of forced to write about these very big, intense, love-and-death operatic themes where there's a boy who dies by suicide by cop. There's a boy who dies from a fire. So it's about grief. His parents die in a car crash prior to all that. There's this hugely stacked deck of grief that exists in the novel. But when you read the novel, there's a very sweet and loving tone to it. So when I started working on it, I recall childhood in Joliet, Illinois. My mom was a single parent, and she raised three kids on her own on a nurse's salary. So I had to give myself permission to take her great dark themes and actions that are in her novel and like give language to it that was also from an adult world.Right now, live theater is probably much different than looking at a screen. It's much different than looking at your computer or your Game Boy or whatever. I see grown men on the subway playing video games on their phones. And we're not even looking at each other on the subways anymore. We're like deep in our in a screen. And I wonder what that's done. And so I think theater actually has a powerful ability to rewire us to the human experience. And maybe because of it, maybe we can find more empathy or more capacity toward kindness."www.imdb.com/name/nm0001246www.imdb.com/name/nm1452688/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1www.imdb.com/title/tt1532495/ https://outsidersmusical.com/ www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/adam-rapp/wolf-at-the-table/9780316434164/?lens=little-brownwww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

Imagine growing up in a spectacular mansion, with access to the kind of wealth and connections most of us can only dream of. But although you're surrounded by material riches, you're in a social vacuum—eating alone in your bedroom every night, wandering the grounds of your family estate with only the wildlife as company. This was the life of John Du Pont, the youngest heir to the famously wealthy family who founded the DuPont chemical company. He grew up cut off from the kind of social warmth most of us take for granted. His solution to that was to immerse himself in the sport of Olympic style wrestling—and to gather some of the world's greatest athletes in a little utopian community he named Foxcatcher Farms. His dream was to create the best team of wrestlers in the world. They lived on the property, trained on the property, became like family to each other…all under the watchful eye of their wealthy benefactor, John. To the athletes, it sounded like a dream come true. But they didn't realize that John DuPont was already on a paranoid downward spiral that would leave everything he'd built in ruins—and take the life of one of wrestling's most beloved champions.Sources:Time Magazine, 1996: "Blood on the Mat" by John Greenwald: https://time.com/3586290/blood-on-the-mat/Documentary "Team Foxcatcher," 2016. We start today’s show with tragic news coming out of Lewiston Maine, as a gun man shot and killed at least 18 people, and wounded 13 more… https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/lewiston-maine-mass-shooting-october-26 Maine State Police have released a detailed timeline of the mass shooting in Lewiston that killed at least 18 people and injured 13 more at two separate locations Wednesday night as the manhunt for suspect Robert Card intensified across the state. At 6:56 p.m., the Auburn Communications Center was alerted that an unidentified man walked into Just-In-Time Bowling, which was recently renamed from Sparetime Recreation, on Mollison Street in Lewiston and began shooting. Police said multiple 911 calls that followed confirmed the shooting. At 7:08 p.m., the Auburn Communications Center received multiple calls that a man had entered a Bar and Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street and opened fire. Police said multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the locations, which are about 4 miles apart. At 8:06 pm, police released a photo of the alleged shooter to the media. The surveillance photo showed a man wearing a brown sweatshirt and holding a rifle while walking through doors decorated with bowling pins and a bowling ball. At 9:26 p.m., the Lewiston Police Department received a call identifying the man in the distributed photos as Robert Card, 40, of Bowdoin, Maine. At 9:56 p.m., the Lisbon Police Department notified Lewiston Police that it had located a white Subaru at the at a Boat Launch in Lisbon. The vehicle was confirmed to belong to Card. Card remains at large as more than 350 law enforcement personnel from federal, state and local agencies continue to search for him. Authorities stress that Card should be considered armed and dangerous. Card is a "trained firearms instructor" who recently reported mental health issues, including "hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME," according to a Maine law enforcement bulletin shared with Fox News Digital. Card is also a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the Army Reserve, having enlisted in December 2002, an Army spokesperson told Fox News, adding that Card has had no combat deployments. Officials have yet to publicly name any of the 18 victims, and police said Thursday morning 10 of the victims killed have yet to be identified. Police have confirmed that seven people — one female and six males — were killed at the bowling alley, which was holding a youth league at the time of the shooting. Eight males were killed at the Bar and Grille. Three additional people died after first responders rushed them to Central Maine Medical Hospital in Lewiston. An additional 13 people were injured in the shootings. At least 80 FBI agents are involved in the search for Robert Card, in addition to agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Coast Guard, according to Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. Collins made the comments during a press conference on Thursday evening. "I had a call from the deputy director of the FBI who told me that there were 80 FBI agents on site participating in the search for the killer," Collins said. State and local law enforcement agencies are also searching for Card. Before we move on, I want to ask that you be praying for the community of Lewiston Maine today… pray that the Lord would be near the broken hearted as is promised in His word… that He would bind up their wounds, and grant comfort and peace to those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Be praying that the Lord would be with local leaders in Maine, both political and law enforcement… and that justice would be served on the one responsible for this heinous crime, and tragic loss of life. https://justthenews.com/government/congress/johnson-begins-house-speakership-focus-debt-inflation-and-border-catastrophe Johnson begins House speakership with focus on debt, inflation, ‘border catastrophe’ as top issues Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives kicked off his leadership role on Wednesday with a commitment to establish a fiscal commission dedicated to rolling back excessive government spending as a way to reduce inflation. He also called on the Senate and White House to stop ignoring the “catastrophe” at the southern border. Johnson described the nation’s rising $33 trillion national debt as the greatest threat to national security and connected it to the level of inflation that America’s families have been grappling with the last few years. JUST IN: Mike Johnson Delivers First Remarks As Speaker Of The House Play 11:36-16:09 Just a note, not a lot of clapping from democrats on that last part. https://www.19fortyfive.com/2023/10/u-s-aircraft-carriers-and-marines-are-on-the-move-towards-irans-military-backyard/ U.S. Aircraft Carriers And Marines Are On The Move Towards Iran’s ‘Military Backyard’ The situation in Israel continues to be tense as the Israeli Defense Forces are on standby to launch a large-scale ground invasion of Gaza. As of now, Tel Aviv has agreed to hold off invading until the U.S. military puts more forces in the area. The Israeli Air Force is pounding hundreds of targets within Gaza, killing and wounding hundreds of Hamas terrorists and Palestinian civilians. On the other end, Hamas continues to be defiant, launching missiles and small-scale attacks against Israel. The terrorist group also holds scores of hostages and is threatening to execute them if Israel invades. According to the German newspaper Bild, the Israelis won’t hold back a possible ground invasion of Gaza over the issue of the hostages. Hamas is currently holding over 200 hostages and has been using them as deterrence against an Israeli ground invasion. But with more than 1,400 Israelis killed and thousands more wounded, the Israeli government might very likely choose to go in and destroy Hamas despite what might happen to the hostages. The Israeli Army is likely waiting for the air force to take out the most important targets before it rolls in with tanks and armored personnel carriers. Meanwhile, two more hostages were released this week as two elderly women, were released on Wednesday. One of the women said, “When we arrived in Gaza, they first told us that they believed in the Quran and would not harm us, they fed us well, were kind, a doctor and paramedic visited us regularly, everything was provided for us.” But their experience leading up to their captivity in Gaza was traumatic. Hostages were beaten and humiliated as they were snatched from their homes in Israel to Gaza’s underground tunnel complex. Meanwhile, the international military presence around Israel continues to grow. European countries are getting ready for forceful evacuations of their citizens from Israel and Lebanon. German and French special operations forces have set up camp in Cyprus and are on standby for contingencies. The U.S. military has already sent two aircraft carrier strike groups in the region and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), which is special operations capable. The Pentagon has also relocated a number of C-130 tactical transport aircraft and support personnel to Greece to be on standby for potential evacuation operations. Thus far, Israel has been adamant that it doesn’t want any direct military assistance or foreign boots on the ground. However, Tel Aviv was allowed a number of U.S. military advisors to support the Israeli Defense Forces. According to Axios, U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James Glynn, a former commander of the Marine Forces Special Operations Command and with experience against the Islamic State, is leading the advisory group. The increased presence of U.S. forces in the region is also in response to credible threats about U.S. citizens and facilities in the region. According to U.S. defense officials, the Pentagon assesses that state and non-state actors in the region—mainly Iran—are considering escalating the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas into a wider regional conflict. The U.S. military is ready to counter any hostile actions in the area. Whether Iran understands the danger is another thing. Now in entertainment news… https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/jenna-fischer-angela-kinsey-office-reboot-update/ ‘Office’ Alums Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey: No News on a Reboot (Yet) “The Office” is one of the most streamed sitcoms around. The show, spun from the British version created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, aired on NBC for nine seasons. The show said goodbye in 2013, with cast members like Steve Carell and John Krasinski drawing raves for follow-up projects like “Foxcatcher” and “A Quiet Place,” respectively. Now, Puck News reports show runner Greg Daniels is prepping an “Office” reboot. That’s news to show alums Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, AKA the hosts of the popular “Office Ladies” podcast. The two discussed a possible show return via their podcast, throwing some cold water on the possibility. “We get asked all the time, there are always these rumors of another American version [of ‘The Office’],” Fischer said in the latest episode of “Office Ladies.” “Like a reboot or a remake or a spinoff.” “No one has ever in all of these years … contacted me about being on another version of ‘The Office.’ Or any cast member,” said Fischer, who played receptionist Pam Beesly on the series. “Whenever I talk to the cast members., ‘never heard of anything. Not a word.'” “Do we need a 50-year-old Pam sitting at a desk at Dunder Mifflin?” referring to turning that age next year. One cast member should definitely be invited back, she suggested. “I like the idea that Creed still works there .. he comes down from the ceiling at night,” Fischer said of the mercurial character played by ex-rocker Creed Bratton.

Steph Mi: Golf With MI https://of.tv/creators/golf-with-mi/ is much more than what one might think. IG: @stephmi Golf with Mi TV series follows the journey of model Steph Mi as she travels the country to beautiful golf course destinations. Uncut, the cigars, cursing and throwing clubs included. A beginner golfer to a passionate player while completing a round with influential players in major cities. The series captures the excitement and drama of the game. Oddly but maybe not oddly her 1st love is the MLB. Mi has been modeling for over a decade, including being featured in the launch of the Sports Illustrated swimwear collection at Miami Swim Week, Maxim and FHM. Mi's credits also include cameos in Foxcatcher alongside Channing Tatum, Southpaw beside Jake Gyllenhaal and on Showtime's Tripleheader with Mike Tyson.  Golf With Mi : https://of.tv/creators/golf-with-mi IG: @Stephmi TikTok: @imstephmi Facebook: @ImStephMi Please support the show. Not death… but being buried before death. Buried alive. It's not just a trope of horror cinema and novels, it has truly happened on a few occasions – and we'll hear stories from a few people who were buried alive, but survived to tell the tale. (I Was Buried Alive) *** The circumstances of wrestling coach John du Pont's bizarre crimes were portrayed in the critically acclaimed true crime drama film, Foxcatcher. Steve Carell was lauded for his performances as John du Pont, and the film was nominated for five Academy Awards. But how true is the film compared to the actual events? (The Real Story Behind The Movie Foxcatcher) *** A Weirdo family member relays a terrifying story of what is described as “El Nahual” in Mexico – a shapeshifter, that her dad barely escaped from! (El Nahual In The Avocado Grove) *** Reddit users share their own personal tales of how they became believers in ghosts and the paranormal. Crafty Apes is a full service, boutique VFX company based in Culver City, CA & Atlanta, GA. The company was launched in July of 2011 by three visual effects veterans Jason Sanford, Chris LeDoux and Tim LeDoux. By paying extra attention to the detail and integration that 2D work requires and by working with the best technology available spread among a select group of artists, Crafty Apes can deliver a superior product to higher end clients in a shorter time period. Their recent credits include: The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Lovecraft Country, Doctor Strange, Hidden Figures, Lalaland, Fist Fight, Pete's Dragon, Captain America: Civil War, Killing Reagan, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Dirty Grandpa, Allegiant, Insurgent, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Mass, The 33, Foxcatcher, 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, The Monkey King, White House Down, Single Mom's Club, The Last Stand, A Madea's Christmas and many more.
