Además, en Navidades casi nunca hablan de él. De aquel día y de aquella hora nadie sabe, ni aun los ángeles de los cielos, sino solo mi Padre» (Mat. 24: 3-4, 36).Estos son días de pensar en calendarios y agendas para el año entrante. Se venden en todas partes. Calendarios y agendas, a mí, me resultan casi indispensables para ayudarme a gestionar mis actividades a lo largo del año.Los cristianos tenemos muchos indicios que nos ayudan a prepararnos para la segunda venida de Cristo, pero no disponemos de ningún calendario ni de ninguna agenda realmente fiable. Porque lo que nosotros necesitamos, y Jesús nos lo ha dejado dicho con toda claridad, no es saber el día ni la hora de su venida, sino estar listos siempre. Por eso su consejo más útil y repetido es simplemente: «Velad, pues, porque no sabéis a qué hora ha de venir vuestro Señor. [...] Estad preparados, porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a la hora que no pensáis» (Mat. 24: 42, 44).Es de lamentar que, a pesar de las claras amonestaciones de Cristo, tantos creyentes se hayan dejado engañar por presuntas fechas, siguiendo calendarios y agendas de confección humana. Con ello no han hecho más que desacreditar su presunta fe. ¡Cuánta razón tiene Elena G. White sobre este punto!:«Los repetidos esfuerzos hechos con el objeto de encontrar nuevas fechas para el principio y fin de los períodos proféticos, y los argumentos para sostener este modo de ver, no solo alejan de la verdad presente, sino que desacreditan todos los esfuerzos para explicar las profecías. Cuanto más a menudo se fije fecha para el segundo advenimiento, y cuanto mayor sea la difusión recibida por una enseñanza tal, tanto mejor responde a los propósitos de Satanás. Una vez transcurrida la fecha, él cubre de ridículo y desprecio a quienes la anunciaron y echa oprobio contra el gran movimiento adventista [...]. Los que persisten en este error llegarán al fin a fijar una fecha demasiado remota para la venida de Cristo. Ello los arrullará en una falsa seguridad, y muchos solo se desengañarán cuando sea tarde» (E. G. White, El conflicto de los siglos, pág. 450).Y es que «el Señor no retarda su promesa, como algunos la tienen por tardanza, sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que nadie perezca, sino que todos vengan al arrepentimiento» (2 Ped. 3: 9).Señor, en mi agenda he escrito que el día en que debo prepararme para tu regreso es hoy. 

Aunque las cifras oficiales en Argentina muestran una baja en la pobreza a nivel nacional, esa mejora no se distribuye de manera uniforme. Barrios como Villa Fiorito siguen enfrentando condiciones precarias. En ese emblemático barrio las familias continúan apelando a distintas estrategias de supervivencia —venta callejera, reciclaje, trabajos informales, uso de ahorros, préstamos— para llegar a fin de mes. Un reportaje de Natalio Cosoy, corresponsal de RFI en Buenos Aires. En el último año y medio, la pobreza en Argentina bajó 10 puntos: del 41,7% al 31,6%. La inflación se desaceleró de más del 200% anual hasta ubicarse en torno al 30% y la desocupación está por debajo del 8%. Sin embargo, esas mejoras no necesariamente se traducen en un alivio para la economía cotidiana de los hogares. El marcado aumento de los gastos fijos —desde los servicios básicos hasta el transporte— dificulta que los ingresos alcancen y obliga a muchos a buscar alternativas para reforzar su presupuesto. No son estrategias nuevas, pero se intensifican cuando los ingresos básicos resultan insuficientes, algo que se nota especialmente en los sectores más pobres. Un informe reciente del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos muestra que hoy casi cuatro de cada diez hogares utilizan ahorros para subsistir, cuando en 2003 eran menos de dos de cada diez. El estudio también indica que algo más del 14% de los hogares recurre a préstamos, la cifra más alta desde 2019. Otra estrategia recurrente es sumar la venta callejera. Así ocurre, por ejemplo, en Villa Fiorito, un barrio que limita con el sur de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Allí, murales de Diego Armando Maradona sirven de telón de fondo a la feria callejera que cada domingo se despliega a lo largo de unos dos kilómetros. Hay vendedores de mayor escala, que ofrecen productos nuevos, y también los llamados “manteros” [recicladores], que extienden una manta en el piso con objetos recolectados en la calle, encontrados en la basura, recibidos como regalo o recuperados de sus propias casas. "Desde que encuentro la basura, lo reciclado, en cualquier lado, lo lavo y lo traigo. Le pongo un precio, así, tres por dos mil, o cuanto me quiera dar", dice Celeste, de 24 años. Durante la semana busca objetos para vender en la feria, pero los ingresos apenas le alcanzan. "Para un día, para la comida, porque a veces no se gana mucho. A veces yo, en la mañana, hago cinco mil pesos, nada." Cinco mil pesos equivalen a unos 3 dólares y medio. El alquiler de la vivienda que Celeste comparte con su pareja y sus tres hijos pequeños ronda los 200 dólares mensuales. "Manteros digitales" "Desde hace varios años para acá la situación económica familiar viene en declive", señala Matías Mora Cáceres, politólogo y residente en Fiorito desde 2002. "A las familias les cuesta mucho llegar a fin de mes en estos últimos tiempos; incluso está costando llegar a mitad de mes, y por eso construyen distintas estrategias o alternativas para generar ingresos." Entre esas estrategias, Mora Cáceres detectó en los últimos años una nueva actividad: la de los "manteros digitales". "Se empiezan a utilizar las redes sociales y las distintas aplicaciones para generar unos pesos extra, en complemento al trabajo que ya tiene cada familia. Utilizan el tiempo de ocio, de descanso, el tiempo familiar, para generar plata y poder subsistir." Ese es el caso de Paola. "Le muestro cómo funciona por WhatsApp, que es por donde más se vende… Aquí la persona me hace el pedido; le pregunto por los colores…", explica desde su casa, donde desarrolla un pequeño negocio de venta de cosméticos a través de redes sociales. Aunque su emprendimiento funciona, si bien tiene altibajos, Paola no ve un horizonte claro. “Yo lo que veo acá en mi barrio, lo que veo en la escuela de mis hijas, es que vamos viviendo el día a día. No podemos proyectar al mes que viene porque no sabés si cobrás.

Las guerras dirigidas por él son acontecimientos históricos que constituyen un segmento esencial de la historia de Israel. El objetivo de esas guerras era establecer a los israelitas en la Tierra Prometida, donde podrían disfrutar en paz de la herencia que les había sido asignada, y establecer una nueva sociedad basada en los principios de la Ley de Dios. Más tarde, autores del Antiguo Testamento, como Isaías, presentan la obra del Mesías también como consistente en asignar las “heredades desoladas [a su pueblo]” (Isa. 49:8, RVA-2015), utilizando la misma terminología que es tan frecuente en el libro de Josué. Unos relojeros suizos, para responder a una demanda de hombres de negocios de la India, habían creado un nuevo reloj que marcaba los tiempos de un calendario religioso védico: el reloj Borgeaud, que indica cada día el horario del periodo de noventa minutos reservado para la meditación y la oración según una tradición ancestral.Un relojero de Neuchâtel concibió para un eventual mercado de trescientos millones de potenciales clientes un movimiento capaz de predecir los periodos del Rahu Kalam, que es el tiempo que la tradición védica reserva cada día, desde el siglo X antes de nuestra era, al cultivo de la espiritualidad.Nuestro texto de hoy nos dice que Dios parece tener también su propio calendario. El tiempo «cumplido» se refiere al anunciado por los profetas, esperado y deseado por tantas generaciones de creyentes: el tiempo de la venida del Mesías. Así,» cuando vino el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió a su Hijo» (Gál. 4: 4). Por eso, el Señor insistió tanto a sus discípulos, y nos insta a nosotros, con estas palabras: «Velad, pues, porque no sabéis a qué hora ha de venir vuestro Señor. Pero sabed esto, que si el padre de familia supiera a qué hora el ladrón habría de venir, velaría y no lo dejaría entrar en su casa. Por tanto, también vosotros estad preparados, porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá a la hora que no pensáis» (Mat. 24: 42-44).Me parece muy loable la idea del calendario Rahu Kalam de marcar momentos en el día para la meditación y la reflexión espiritual. Creo que los creyentes de todas las confesiones podríamos ser espiritualmente enriquecidos por esa práctica, y hasta por la ayuda de algo parecido al reloj del que acabamos de hablar.Pero todavía me parece más práctica para nosotros la idea de Jesús de invitarnos a velar siempre, no solo a ciertas horas. Pablo la ha formulado en estos términos: «Orad sin cesar» (1 Tes. 5: 17). De elevar nuestra mente a Dios, siempre es hora. Ahora es el tiempo.Aquí me tienes, Señor.

Mat has written several books, including two speculative short story collections entitled An Ill-Stitched Menagerie and See My Breath Dance Ghostly, and a novella-in-flash; Dantalion is a Quiet Place. Esta palabra viene del término latino adventus, que significa «venida». Inicialmente, la intención de esta conmemoración era marcar un tiempo, de duración variable según las diferentes tradiciones, de preparación espiritual para la celebración de la primera venida de Cristo:«Cuando vino el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió a su Hijo» (Gál. 4: 4-5). En su origen, y todavía para muchos cristianos, se trata de un tiempo de esperanza, de oración y de reflexión, de vigilia, de arrepentimiento, de perdón y de alegría. This is the nightmare scenario: incurring all the policy and political liabilities of GOP control while all the initial promises — from the DOGE and health care reform to immigration restriction and American jobs — are disintegrating. One of the big reasons why we are failing on immigration is because we refuse to fight the premise of judicial supremacism. We're joined today by Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, for a discussion about recent egregious court cases shredding our biblical and constitutional values. Mat is defending a mother in Maine after a state court ordered her daughter, at the behest of the girl's father, to divest from all contact with church or religious material. Mat also discusses how even the conservative judges are extremely political and refused to overturn Obergefell in the Kim Davis case. He believes that states need to force the issue by directly contradicting Obergefell in the same way they did with abortion. Finally, we discuss how the only authority of courts comes from the respect of the people and the other branches. If we are to believe that every decision is the unquestionable "law of the land," then there is no way to dig our way out of this tyranny.
