Alright you guys. This week, I'm back to tackling superheroes, which as you know, is a big feat for me. I don't like superhero films, and I especially dislike DC superheroes, and their film adaptations so the fact that I spent almost half an hour discussing them is really something for me honestly. So this week, I decided to discuss whether good vs. evil was actually portrayed accurately by the cast of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. I focused specifically on the roles of Batman (portrayed by Ben Affleck), Superman (portrayed by Henry Cavill) and Lex Luthor (portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg). So did these actors actually portray their hero and villain counterparts well, or was it just casting and acting that shouldn't have come to light? The Truman Show. What more can I say? A truly iconic film that told such an interesting story that we've ironically ended up seeing ourselves live everyday. In an age where social media is ever-present and everything we do can end up being recorded online for anyone to see at the drop of a hat, The Truman Show seems silly now, but it really isn't. But what makes this film so dynamic, interesting, and upheld almost twenty-something years later is the casting. But I have to ask, is Jim Carrey really everybody's favourite choice for Truman? Does he live up to the hype that this film is given? Is Jim Carrey's reputation as a funny-guy forcing too much, or does it prove that he's more than just giving the audience some laughs? Join me as I discuss Jim Carrey's performance as the titular Truman Burbank, and determine if his performance as this naive, yet humble man is really all that great, and up to par, or if its just short of fantastic. The Mummy. One of the best historical fantasy/comedy films of all time, right? I mean, it was hugely successful and spawned two sequels, and had its own spin-off with The Scorpion King (2002). Starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, this film transports you into 1930s Egypt on a mission to defeat a man who is undead, who unfortunately has a LOT of pent up anger.
