A lecture given for the Meeting Minds Alumni Weekend 2018. Juxtaposing a child-centred and a child-oriented policy paradigm, this talk took stock of recent policy developments in Europe and beyond and assessed our progress in developing child-centred policy.
Juliet Davenport emphasises the role of renewable energy in the fight against climate change and shows how unprecedented progress is being made. As the CEO and founder of leading renewable electricity supplier Good Energy, she speaks of advances in solar and wind power, but also recognises the importance of political solutions. Davenport explains how studying Physics sparked her interest in renewables, and she encourages today's students to seek out the many opportunities in the sector. In this podcast interview, Davenport also describes how she balanced her love of sport, especially lacrosse, with her studies at Oxford. Between 21 – 23 March, Oxford University hosted the inaugural Meeting Minds: Alumni Weekend in Asia in Hong Kong. These are some highlights of the best bits of the event. The three days of festivities was hosted by University Chancellor, the Rt Hon Lord Patten of Barnes, and the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Hamilton, and brought together more than 500 graduates. friends and world-leading academic figures for sessions on the impact of current Oxford research, social events and the opening of the exhibition of the Bodleian Library’s Selden Map at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
