These are the last adult witnesses - in their own words. When Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, he quickly began to realise his dream of a racially superior nation free of 'inferior' groups. His goal included the eradication of European Jewry, a plan that would ultimately claim six million lives. By 1945, almost two in three European Jews were dead. So were millions of other victims of Nazism. For those who survived, liberation came with the enormous weight of guilt and memory as they began the second part of their lives, often in faraway places such as Australia, which would become home to one of the world's highest per capita communities of Holocaust survivors. Now the last of those adult survivors have reached an age once considered unattainable. They outlasted Nazism, and today, in their tenth and eleventh decades, have outlived most of their contemporaries. Eighteen of these Australians, originally from all over Europe, tell what it is like to have endured those years, and how they lived long after them. "Kristallnacht" is German for "Crystal night" and it would also become known as the "Night of Broken Glass," all of which referred to the shards of broken glass from shop windows that lay throughout German cities. Kristallacht specifically targeted the Jewish population in Germany. The trigger for the actions of Kristallnacht was the assassination of German Embassy official Ernst vom Rath in Paris by Herschel Grynzspan, who wanted to shoot a Nazi for the mass deportation of Polish Jews, including Grynzspan's parents, less than two weeks earlier. When Adolf Hitler found out about vom Rath's death, Hitler left the dinner party he was throwing. Then Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels said the riots that would take place should not be stopped. More specifically, the head of the secret police, Reinhard Heydrich, sent a telegram throughout Germany spelling out the exact orders for all German policemen. The result was that the state allowed the destruction of 7,000 Jewish-owned businesses, hundreds of synagogues, and untold Jewish homes. Some 30,000 young Jewish men were arrested and sent to labor camps. Most importantly, Kristallnacht signaled that the Nazi regime was entirely capable of genocide.

Episode 31 - Director James Balsamo joins Pete, Sean, and Will in the pitch meeting as we spitball our most cringe-worthy pitch ever - an "outrageous romantic teen comedy" that may raise a furor with some listeners called "KYLE HITLER". Originally released December 12th, 2016. Kyle Hitler (Thomas Mann) is your typical, awkward, unmemorable high school senior - other than the fact that he shares the same last name as one of the most hated and reviled figures in world history. When Adolf Hitler himself (portrayed by Paul Rudd) learns of a loophole that will get him out of hell and into heaven, he must attempt the impossible...and get his great great grand descendant laid! Can the ghost of Adolf Hitler show a modern day millennial how to be cool and be suave with the ladies? Find out when you listen to us painfully pitch, "KYLE HITLER". Also starring Disney Channel star Dove Cameron as the object of Kyle's affection and Adam Sandler as his father. Next Monday we return with an all new episode of Pitch It Movie Podcast with filmmaker Bobby Heckman and actress Sibel Kipchek as they pitch a dark reimagined sequel of a beloved 80's John Hughes Sci-Fi classic called "WEIRD SCIENCE REQUIEM". We encourage our talented listeners to create posters of our latest pitch and please send them to any of the social media outlets listed below.
