Voyage dans son pays natal qui, près de 30 ans après sa mort, continue d'honorer sa mémoire et son legs immense. À Si loin si proche, Ella c'est une sorte de marraine, d'aînée que l'on convoque souvent, tant elle a ouvert la voie à d'autres sur les chemins de l'ailleurs, de la liberté et de l'Asie. Née en 1903 sur les bords du Lac Léman, Ella Maillart va très tôt tracer sa route au-delà des frontières et des conventions, voyageant seule le plus souvent et refusant «de remplir un destin tout tracé par son sexe» -on dirait genre aujourd'hui… Tour à tour sportive de haut niveau, marin, reporter, photographe, écrivaine, guide et conférencière jusqu'à l'âge de 80 ans, l'autrice de «La Voie cruelle» ou de «Oasis interdites» a laissé derrière elle une œuvre puissante et singulière : des images et des récits dans lesquels son regard bleu perçant avait à cœur de raconter le monde et de dire aussi sa vérité.  Aujourd'hui encore, on est frappé par la modernité, la cohérence de son existence. On la cite et on la lit encore, certain.e.s voyagent sur ses traces en Asie… Et en Suisse, à travers des lieux, des musées ou des expositions temporaires, on continue de célébrer, partager la géographie complexe d'Ella Maillart, «la femme du globe», comme l'avait surnommé le poète Paul Valéry.  Nouvel épisode de notre série de portraits radiophoniques d'écrivain.e.s voyageurs-voyageuses, dans les yeux d'Ella en Suisse. Entre les rives du Léman de son enfance et son refuge d'altitude à Chandolin où elle s'est installée en 1946, entre les vitrines du Musée Rath de Genève qui lui a consacré une rétrospective au printemps 2024 et celles du Musée Bolle de Morges qui s'est penché sur son passé de navigatrice.  Dans «Ma philosophie du voyage», Ella Maillart faisait sienne les mots d'Antoine de Saint-Exupéry : «Une mauvaise littérature nous a parlé du besoin d'évasion. Bien sûr, on s'enfuit en voyage à la recherche de l'étendue. Mais l'étendue ne se trouve pas, elle se fonde. Et l'évasion n'a jamais conduit nulle part.». Always, Never, Either or. These are words that are often used when we get stuck in "All or Nothing" thinking.  Our brains love to know, to hae clarity and understanding, so it is very easy for quick decisions and judgements to be made. However, sometimes these quick judgments lead to all-or-nothing thinking that isn't correct and allows little room for middle ground or a grey area. In today's podcast, we are going to talk about all-or-nothing thinking.  We are going to discuss some examples of some times I've seen this show up in myself, my coaching, and with family, and how to navigate through this! First, instead of using the more rigid words like always and never, try using more flexible language.   Second, catch yourself when you are using all-or-nothing or black and white talk.  This awareness is a HUGE first step! Another tip, say BOTH! Rath than assume that things have to be either/or, they can be BOTH! We are all awesome and flawed! Ask Questions! "Is this true?" Is always a great place to start! And last, COMPASSION! Talk to yourself like a trusted friend, family member, or the Savior. As you practice these tips even one time a day, this will give you so much leverage and awareness on your thought patterns and expand our all-or-nothing thinking into an approach with room for the middle ground!

Fyzické konflikty jsou ale naštěstí pořád raritou, kterou jinak známe třeba z parlamentů v Turecku, Jihoafrické republice, Gruzii či na Tchajwanu.Když už se něco takového u nás výjimečně přihodí, je událost náležitě rozebírána ze všech stran. Jako první se veřejně, a dokonce před kamerami, rozhodl řešit osobní konflikt někdejší místopředseda ODS Miroslav Macek: uštědřil pádný „záhlavec“ tehdejšímu ministru zdravotnictví Davidu Rathovi z ČSSD. Ponížený Rath se pak u soudu domáhal milionového odškodného a veřejné omluvy, dočkal se jen toho druhého.Jiný provokatér, někdejší poslanec Lubomír Volný, byl iniciátorem bitky přímo u pultíku, odkud se řídí schůze Sněmovny. Nelíbilo se mu, že předsedající Tomáš Hanzel mu vypnul mikrofon poté, co urážel ČSSD i samotného Hanzela. Volný si s ním šel celou věc vyřídit přímo k předsednickému pultu s legendárním heslem „Dostaneš flákanec!“Byla z toho mela několika poslanců, kterou musela vyřešit až ochranka, neboť Hanzela se týmově vypravili bránit jeho straničtí kolegové. Rūpa Goswami says, "Just as young boys are naturally attracted to young girls, and young girls are naturally attracted to young boys"—if you unload a busload of teenagers in front of the Grand Canyon, they won't see the Grand Canyon because they're in samādhi. He said, "In the same way, may my mind be drawn to you." So when Prabhupāda said, "This is a feeling festival, the Ratha-yātrā," there is a story behind it, a love story. But it's THE love story; it's not any love story, it's THE love story. It's the ādi-rasa that gets perverted in this world as what's called āhlāda-tāpa-traya—the love affairs of this world that end in misery and strife and difficulty and complications. Of course, there are complications in the love story of the spiritual world, but they're all ānanda. And this Ratha-yātrā is so remarkable because what we have here is an apparently ordinary parade, but we're pulling the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and not just an image of God. And we say, "God is great, and we're all small and we're all servants," but there's this very specific story of Lord Kṛṣṇa meeting again the residents of Vṛndāvana, and the depth of their separation from him, which is never broken, because true love is never broken. Even Shakespeare says that. And that's all encapsulated within the Ratha-yātrā festival. So brilliant was Prabhupāda to bring it out to the world that both aspects are there: kevalānanda-kāṇḍa—the bliss of the chanting, the prasādam, the display of booths, and "Here's Kṛṣṇa consciousness, you'll get inner peace." But beyond that, there's the most esoteric of all stories that highly advanced paramahaṁsas relish again and again, and tell over and over again, which they go into the details of again and again, and relish it unlimitedly. So we're part of that legacy to bring Ratha-yātrā to the world, and along with the Ratha-yātrā, we may also distribute Bhagavad-gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta. #209# Ted Rath is the New Orleans Saints director of sports performance.Rath comes to New Orleans after four seasons directing the strength and conditioning efforts of the Philadelphia Eagles. He originally joined the team as the director of sports performance in 2020 and was promoted to vice president of player performance in 2021. During his four full seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles reached the playoffs three times with Rath overseeing the team's strength and conditioning program. In 2022, when the Eagles reached Super Bowl LVII, he was named the Strength Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association for the second time in his career, an award voted on by the league's strength and conditioning coaches.In 2017, the first season of his three-year tenure with the Los Angeles Rams, Rath was named the Strength Coach of the Year for the first time, when according to Football Outsiders, Los Angeles finished as the healthiest team in the NFL based on adjusted games lost due to injury.
