EP:20 "The Biggest Challenge Our Operation Faces in the Future"

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 26, 2021 41:44

In this weeks episode, Forrest and Lane dive deep into what they believe to be the largest challenge their operation faces in the future. This topic was brought up after Bill Gates became the largest "farmland" owner in the United States after purchasing a farm in Nebraska bringing his total acreage to 242,000 acres. Continuing increase in land prices are a concern to producers who rely on this land for food production. Recent Industrial announcements in North Alabama have made a tremendous impact on new jobs, but also demand large tracts of land. Producers are struggling to compete with Industry for land and this is just the beginning. Though there is hope for farmers from technology and other resources to be able to produce more food with less land and other inputs.
